Technology Will Destroy Our
Planet

Objectives
To unveil what scientist are saying on the ills of technology to
planet earth.
Point out the aspect of the world’s technological innovations
negatively impacting the world.
Make people aware of the dangers of "technology“: originally
fashioned for good courses.
2
Introduction
Technology has helped us create our
own processed environment of roads,
cars, buildings, foods, pharmaceutical
and medical resolutions that are
significantly advantageous to the life of
man. It has also lead us to innovations
like: guns, nuclear bombs, poisons and
medical practices like human cloning,
development of artificial intelligence,
sex change and indiscriminate abortion.
This ever advancing technology is
clearly seen to be very destructive to
man and has caused man to hardly have
any connection with the natural world
anymore (Folisi, 2009).
3
According to renown scientist -
Prof Stephen Hawking, "The
development of full artificial
intelligence could spell the end
of the human race." (Cellan-
Jones, 2014). He went ahead to
explain that the negative
impact technological
innovations will have in the
world will be huge in future
projected years

Impacts Of Technology
Social Isolation – People have no time to get to know each other anymore
but at every spare time keep their ears and eyes occupied, listening to music,
watching videos or browsing on their iPods, iPads or android phones. In a
bad way, technology has changed the way humans relate/socialize. It has
caused us to lack proper communication skills; losing the benefits of person
to person communication (Chrimbchin, 2007).
5
Machines taking the jobs of humans. Techno-replacement was
speculated about 50 years ago and today we see quick take-over of
blue-collar jobs by robots. This is a direct contributor to growing
unemployment (Dormehl, 2014).
6
Loss of lives through accidents: air-plane crashes, road accidents, rail
accidents is on the increase. Deaths through medical technology mistakes
has an annual record of up to 400,000 lives yearly (McCann, 2015).
7
Obesity – Indoor video games
is now the order of the day. It
has replaced the outdoor
physical games that enhance
body metabolism and healthy
living (Preidt, 2012).
8
Negative impact on the younger generation who started their lives
with computers and all new technologies. We now have a
generation who are getting more and more unable to calculate
simple figures without the aid of technological devices (Kim,
2012)
9
Nuclear power stations: a threat to
the world, terrorists are targeting to
take advantage of (Harris, et al 1998).
10
Not only are we creating unmanageable amounts of rubbish here on earth, but there is a build-up of debris outside of our atmosphere called space junk. Space junk consists of abandoned satellites and rockets and is estimated to contain around a million pieces, all travelling unbelievably fast around the earth (Marshal 2013).
11
Much the same way that a wifi system
works by transmitting radio signals to
a receiver, so wireless power means
that chargers and wires could become
a thing of the past. Soon you will be
able to zap power to your gadgets
without the need for any leads. But
would you feel safe walking into an
"electricity hotspot"? (Marshal 2013).
12
3D printers aren't just for the nice things in life, or for ripping off big firms' intellectual property. Defense Distributed wants to use them to make the world's first "Wiki Weapon", a fully functional, 3D-printed gun that means governments "must one day operate on the assumption that any and every citizen has near instant access to a firearm through the internet". Because if there's one thing the world really needs today, it's more guns (Marshal 2013).
13
Robot doctors are already here, and they're helping humans rather than zooming around the place stabbing us to smithereens. According to Popular Mechanics, the Da Vinci robot surgeon has "almost 2,500 units worldwide performing over 200,000 procedures per year". Robot surgeons are more accurate, leave smaller scars and are much less likely to leave their watch inside a patient than real surgeons, and recovery time is shorter too. Systems such as Da Vinci aren't fully autonomous, but that's the long-term goal - and robots don't just want to do the stabby bits. IBM's Watson is being trained to analyse symptoms and provide accurate diagnoses. We hope it's more accurate than Google: whenever we google any symptom whatsoever we end up convinced we've got cancer (Marshal 2013).
14
As the world deals with the Conficker worm, which has already
spread itself onto an estimated nine million computers around the
world, doom-mongers like to consider what a super worm could do.
If a super worm infected every computer in the world and switched
them off, effectively it could send humanity back to the 1970s and
cause global disorder
