Architecture PrinciplesArchitecture Principles are statements of intent or purpose related to the use of Information Technology (IT) within
the organization. They describe preferred practices to be followed when implementing new or upgraded systems.
They provide the foundation upon which the IT Architecture is built.
Architecture principles relate business and Information Technology requirements in language that all managers can
understand. The principles outlined are derived from overarching Enterprise Architecture principles for businessresulting in the development of detailed principles to guide the development of technology models, technology
selection and criteria, standards selection and policies and procedures affected by the use of IT.
Policies - High-level rules or constraints
Principles - underlying general rule; require motivation and implication
Guidelines - a general statement of direction, not normally mandatory
If we do not know where we are going, we are unlikely to get there.
If you cannot describe it you cannot built it.

If a SW product is configured it allows for
future product roadmap.
If a SW product is customised, it more often
leads to a deadend when SW is EOL, requiring
a 'Forklift upgrade'
