MODULE 3TECHNOLOGY VISION OF
VETERANS MIDDLE SCHOOLBy: Julio M. Hernandez
MISSION STATEMENT
My mission statement is enhance every student with the knowledge of different science concepts by having them engage into the classroom material through different types of activities. As part of this engagement student will be require to use technology to continue to improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills while developing the foundations for a successful academic life.
TECHNOLOGY VIEW
Basically everybody wants to have technology helping them
to do a better job.
CHALLENGES
Students lack of knowledge of some of the basic software or computers.
Students without technology resources at home
Not enough computers in the classroom or equipment not working properly.
Not enough knowledge of the different technology equipment.
More time and training to keep up with technology implementation expectations.
POINTS OF VIEW IN REGARDS TO TECHNOLOGY
By asking teachers in the hallways I found that many are using limited resources available by our district.
Most of these resources tend to be limited to the use of the computer, the camera, and in some occasions the smart board.
Some of the common excuses given by fellow teachers were:
-There is not enough time to do everything in the classroom!

NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY OBJECTIVES
According to ISTE objectives, these two objectives are in my opinion, we definitely need a lot of improvement:
1.A Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
1.D Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to –face and virtual environments.
OBJECTIVES
Modeling and promoting some of these tools are probably the most important aspects of technology that we as teachers need to practice more often in our classroom.
Many times is not so much about the intention but the availability of knowledge that keeps us from staying align with technology objectives.
GOALS
Students will perform according to the teachers expectations and if guided properly we can have our students doing wonders with some of the technology tools that we have available so far.
Here some examples of our students at work:
STUDENT WORKING WITH SMARTBOARD
STUDENTS DOING RESEARCH IN COLLABORATIVE GROUPS.
RESEARCHING CREATING A POWERPOINT
INDIVIDUAL WORK FOSTER BY TECHNOLOGY!
OBSERVATIONS
My belief is that we as MTT representatives need to create a technology environment by leading the way in the new era of technology application in the class room.
We always are going to find obstacles in the way to accomplish our goals but we shall never give up in continuing enhancing our classroom instruction; what better way than by incorporating technology into our students’ academics!
THANK YOU!
