The Art of Creating Awe

Remembering how it was and what actually happened

Page 3: TED Talk Evaluation

Thesis: Awe comes from the emotions and feelings of the audience and

incredible work of the artist.

Page 4: TED Talk Evaluation

Rob grabs the audience’s attention by:

Page 5: TED Talk Evaluation

Retelling a story about when he worked on the Apollo 13 movie.

Page 6: TED Talk Evaluation

Restating his thesis but in a more fluid and easier to grasp explanation.

Showing clips from work he has done

Page 7: TED Talk Evaluation

Explaining an experiment he conducted on how we perceive awe

and how it affects the way we perceive them.

Page 8: TED Talk Evaluation

Rob followed two major parts of the

TED Commandments:

Page 9: TED Talk Evaluation

Page 10: TED Talk Evaluation

VIII: Thou shalt remember all the while: laughter is good

Dynamism Level!

3/5Rob’s speech was very well made, yet he had a somewhat awkward approach to his audience. He did not move much, but kept his hands moving and used them to accentuate his tone.

Tips used by Rob from

Raynolds and Duartes:

Page 13: TED Talk Evaluation

Duartes Raynolds

He maintains a constant and interesting string of audio and visual examples in his presentation.

As Duartes explained is crucial to a successful presentation

As in Raynolds explanation of Zen and simplicity, Rob keeps his slides simple and with little to no words. He does not need much to explain a lot

Page 14: TED Talk Evaluation

What I learned from Rob’s presentation and delivery:

Keep you’re audience happy and laughing. Nothing is more memorable than a good time.

Use visuals and video clips to reinforce examples and grab the audience’s attention.
