THE ENTREPRENEURIAL EDUCATION GROUP

(TEEG)

IN

COLLEGES

Founding Partners

Strategic Partners

What is TEEG?

Entrepreneurial education is firmly on the ‘curriculum map’

and TEEG is your Sat Nav!

The Entrepreneurial Education Group (TEEG) is a fusion between Entrepreneurs, Businesses and

Education to bring a more entrepreneurial and enterprising mindset to the world of work.

TEEG was founded by YES Education and OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations Board) and

launched at the House of Commons, Parliament, on January 22nd 2014 with over 100 guests from

education, business and Government. The launch ceremony was opened by Mr Speaker, John Bercow

MP and special guest speakers included Skills Minister Matthew Hancock MP and Lord Young of

Graffham, Enterprise Adviser to the Prime Minister. All applauded the initiative and encouraged

businesses and education to work together in creating more enterprising students for today’s

competitive jobs world and that entrepreneurship is an exciting career option, necessary for a

sustainable economy with new businesses starting up creating wealth and jobs for the country. It was

acknowledged that this education must start early in life. Creating our future employers as well as

employees.

In order to effectively embed entrepreneurial education, it first starts with a decision to do it! There

is a process:

1. Equip teachers with the knowledge and confidence in enterprise and entrepreneurship 2. Select the products and subject content 3. Deliver or facilitate the subject 4. Organise competitions 5. Bring mentors and businesses into the college to speak to students

…the list goes on! It can be a challenge for a college to embed what is essentially a new subject in

entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial ‘mindset’. Working with TEEG will provide colleges with

everything ‘entrepreneurial’ so that they can embed this throughout the curriculum, extending this

to all students studying for a career that could also lead to self employment in the future.

Some of the services are under development at the moment which are shown later in this

document, some are included in the Founder Member package. Founder Membership is therefore

at a discounted rate which will apply for life – not just during the early stages. Founder Membership

is offered to the first 20 colleges only. Once fully operational a new membership fee will apply

which is likely to be much higher than ‘founder’ status.

Membership is renewable annually.

CURRICULUM AMBASSADOR – HAIR & BEAUTY, AMY CHILDS

Amy Childs became famous for her starring role in the hit TV series The

Only Way is Essex (TOWIE). What many don’t know however, is that Amy is a

prolific young entrepreneur at 24 years old and is now building her beauty and

fashion empire in Brentwood, Essex, employing over 50 people! TEEG’s Carly

Ward met with Amy at her fabulous salon and had lots in common, both Amy

and Carly are fully qualified beauty therapists! Carly asked Amy if she would

help TEEG develop an enterprising spirit with TEEG member colleges and

encourage students studying Hair and Beauty to get entrepreneurial. Amy

readily agreed and now wants to help Hair and Beauty students reach for

success in life and/or start their own business beginning with Amy’s very own

spray tan start up package to get going. Details provided separately on how to get involved or you

can email [email protected] for more information. Amy’s tan also available for use by colleges.

TEEG will be setting a TEEG Task for all Hair and Beauty students.

An exciting task for students to get creative and impress Amy with their talent!

Winner to be announced by Amy herself next June/July 2015 when students will have the

chance of meeting Amy and to ask her questions.

This is the TEEG Task set by Amy:

Amy would like students to design/invent a brand new product that would fit within the beauty

industry. It could be a new piece of make up, an eyeliner, anything unique that a student might think

customers would want to buy when visiting a beauty salon to make them look and feel more beautiful

and could use at home.

Students will need to write a mini Business Plan to explain their idea. They could create a prototype

if designing a new beauty tool. Students are advised to use the YES Education 12 Steps to Success

online learning system to learn how to write a Business Plan and do some market research. Step 8

explains how to do this. Students going through The 12 Steps to Success will shine above those that

are not! This is because they will learn about the entrepreneurial world and be more able to come up

with innovative ideas. Students can get their Sign Up Code from their teacher and all they need to do

is access the online learning programme.

Registration on the website www.yes-educationuk.com/register

All TEEG Member Colleges can take part and finalists will be selected by TEEG’s Carly Ward to attend

a presentation and winners ceremony next summer (date to be announced). Students will therefore

be competing with students from other colleges and TEEG will select the most innovative ideas that

could work in the real world of beauty.

The Prize!

The winning design/idea will be picked by Amy and the successful student may be given the

opportunity of developing the product for Amy’s exclusive beauty product range. Students could see

their own design being a part of The Amy Child’s exclusive beauty range for real! In addition, the

winning student will also be offered work experience at The Amy Childs Salon in Brentwood, Essex!

Start your own spray tanning business with Amy Child’s tanning kit! From

only £250! Email [email protected] for more details. There is nothing to stop students from being

an entrepreneur! Amy’s tan kit also available for use by colleges.

TEEG CURRICULUM AMBASSADOR – CATERING

Wilfred Emmanuel Jones – The Black Farmer

Wilfred describes himself as ‘a poor boy, done good’. He was born in

Jamaica and then after his parents came to the UK in the 1950s, he was

raised in inner city Birmingham. It was there that his dream of owning a

farm began. As the eldest boy, he had the responsibility of helping his

father tend the family allotment. From a family of eleven, living in a

small two-up two-down, the sense of space and freedom that the

allotment provided instilled a love of being outdoors, nurturing plants

that would provide much needed food for his family. That was the

beginning of a long journey that has now led to Wilfred’s produce being sold in every major

supermarket. Gluten free gourmet sausages, meat balls and burgers plus much more.

www.theblackfarmer.com

TEEG will be setting a TEEG Task for all students studying Catering

An exciting task for students to get creative and impress Wilfred!

Winner to be announced by Wilfred himself next June/July 2015 when finalists will have

the chance of meeting him and to ask him questions.

This is your TEEG Task set by Wilfred:

Wilfred would like you to come up with a new recipe for a gluten free gourmet product such as a

sausage that would fit within The Black Farmer range of produce. It could be something else but you

will need to study the website www.theblackfarmer.com and see what they offer already.

It must be gluten free.

All TEEG Member centres can take part and finalists will be selected by TEEG’s Carly Ward to attend

a presentation and winners ceremony with Wilfred at his farm in Devon next June/July (date to be

announced). Students will therefore be competing with students from other TEEG member centres.

.

Finalists will do a 2 minute pitch to Wilfred, students can bring their creation with them cooked or

uncooked to demonstrate your idea.

The Prize!

This is a real life task, not a rehearsal or any kind of game! Dealing with supermarkets is highly

competitive and Wilfred is at the hands of the buyers with any new innovative idea. It is our intention

to tell the supermarkets about the winning recipe and to produce it for sale within The Black Farmer

gluten free range of food and to pitch the recipe to a team of buyers. There could be

acknowledgement to the winning student on the packaging. This may or may not be possible but we

think the buyers could be intrigued and would want to get involved. In any event, it’s not always about

the winning, it’s the taking part!

Costs

The TEEG Founder Membership package for 20 colleges only is £2,500 (plus VAT) per annum for life

(each). Once 20 Founders are on board the price will increase to approximately £5,000 (plus VAT)

per annum.
