TEENAGE BOY 

Chivalrous: The teenage boy saves the protagonist from falling onto the floor, representing other teenage boys as kind and respectful to females.  

The focus was on our teenage girl protagonist and briefly featured a teenage 

boy in the last 10 seconds of the sequence. Therefore, the audience can 

only make a couple of assumptions about the teenage boy. This is the way we interpreted our leading male role. 

Shallow/superficial:When he catches the girl, the male love interest ‘checks her out’ by looking at her appearance. Teenage boys may be represented as shallow and only care about superficial elements instead of the qualities a person holds. This isn’t completely negative but his shallowness could spur conflict later in the film, potentially damaging his relationship with the protagonist.
