Joystick Control. The joystick allowsthree simultaneous boom functions andincorporates unique slider switches.

Two joystick control patterns areavailable to meet applicationrequirements.

The joystick also operates the auxiliaryhydraulic function and allows the optionof a second auxiliary service for the useof work tools that require more than onehydraulic service.

Hydraulic System. The Cat ElectroHydraulic system allows all three boomfunctions to be operated simultaneouslyand proportionally. This enables preciseplacing of loads in challengingapplications.

Auxiliary hydraulic functions areavailable on the joystick to allowoperators to utilize more complexwork tools.

A continuous flow auxiliary hydraulicsupply is available for operating toolssuch as brooms that require continuousflow for long periods of time.

Integrated System. The Caterpillarintegrated management system allowsthe engine, transmission and hydraulicsystems to operate with maximumefficiency, control and productivity.

Flow Sharing. Three simultaneoushydraulic functions are achieved usinga full flow sharing hydraulic valve.A load sensing variable displacementpump allows full hydraulic powereven at low revs.

Ease of OperationEase of operation was paramount in the design of the new TH460B. The single joystick withits intuitive, modulated, hydraulic functions and the new Cat electronic machine informationdisplay are designed to maximize operator efficiency.


Lift Height. The TH460B can effectivelyand quickly place bricks, roofingmaterials and trusses to a maximumheight of 44 ft (13.5 m).

Reach. Job site obstacles presentchallenges demanding a machineto place loads at greater distances –the TH460B delivers.

Maneuverability. The TH460B offersexcellent maneuverability due to itstight turning circle and its three differentsteering modes.

The TH460B has a 48 degree axleturning circle and no rear tail swing,allowing it to work productively andsafely in confined areas.

Steering Modes. The TH460B offersthree steering modes (two wheel, craband circle steer) to allow an operatorto easily position the machine.Steering modes are selected by asingle three position rocker switch.Steering position sensors are fitted as standard to all steering modes to be changed while moving.

High Torque Rise Engine. The Cat 3054EElectronic engine is U.S. EPA Tier 2compliant. While continuing to delivermaximum performance it featuresimproved timing, reduced smoke and exceptional service improvements.For improved sound characteristics,a venturi tailpipe has been packagedinside the engine enclosure.

The cooling system has been designed towork in the most challenging conditions.

Transmission. The TH460B has a purposedesigned Caterpillar four speed forward,three speed reverse powersyncrotransmission with powershift controls.

For improved machine performance indifficult conditions, a differential lockis available (front axle).

Quick Coupler. An IT interface isstandard on the B-Series. It is availablein both a manual and a hydraulic version.

For optimum versatility, machines canbe equipped with the hydraulic quickcoupler, allowing the operator to quicklyand easily change work tools withoutleaving the cab.

Hydraulic Services. Machines areequipped with Auxiliary Hydraulicservices, allowing the use of hydraulicallyoperated work tools. All B-SeriesTelehandlers are equipped with a singleauxiliary hydraulic service andcontinuous hydraulic flow.
