Abstract:In recent years, magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) have attracted much research interest because of their interesting structures and advanced applications in magnetic sensors, magnetic fluid hyperthermia and targeted drug delivery etc. Out of wide range of magnetic NPs, the CMR perovskite oxides , where R is a trivalent rare-earth ion (La, Pr, Nd, etc.) and A is a divalent alkaline earth (Ca, Sr, K, etc.), have been a renewed subject of numerous investigation in recent years owing to their exhibition of colossal magnetoresistance and novel magneic properties [1].

In our laboratory we have grown CMR nanoparticles with chemical formulae . The characterizations of the grown samples have been made using X–ray diffractometer, transmission electron microscope and electron diffraction. The grain size of the samples lies in the range 30 to 55 nm. The electrical resistivity and magnetization of these NPs have been measured in the range of 50–370 K and analysed theoretically using existing models. These NPs have shown superparamagnetic behaviour and can have attractive applications in the field of targeted drug delivery and hyperthermia treatments.
