Tennis Seniors Victoria and Tennis Seniors Western Australia invite you to participate in the 2013 Australian Seniors Teams Carnival and Individual Championships in Perth, Western Australia.

You and your friends will enjoy these two weeks if you:

• Enjoy competitive teams doubles in a friendly spirit• Wish to represent Victoria and compete against other states and overseas teams• Wish to play in your own age group and standard of play• Would like to form your own team of 5-6 players in your own age group and standard of

play• Wish to nominate individually for a team in your own age group• Like to play on excellent lawn and synthetic grass courts• Like to participate in the many social events that are included• Enjoy competitive individual singles and doubles events and would like to be considered

for Australian Team selection

Tennis Details

Week 1Teams doubles matches (men and women) from all States, territories and overseas countries compete for the Australian Teams trophies. 160 teams are anticipated to compete in age groups 35-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-74, 75+. Age brackets have been expanded to ensure at least 2 divisions in each group.

• It is anticipated that teams will play at least 8 matches over the 5 days• Matches consist of four 2 set rubbers played on 2 courts• Four timeslots of 2.5 hours duration commencing at 8.00am each day• Captains may play their doubles pairings in any combination, except that in the 3rd and 4th

rubbers you cannot play with the same partner as in the first 2 rubbers• Individual player ratings will be the major means of grading teams within any age group to

determine Division 1 or 2 participation (allocated by the State selectors according to Tennis Seniors criteria)

• With the possibility of playing 8 sets per day, it is recommended that teams consist of at least 5 or 6 players

Social Activities• Official Opening Ceremony and welcoming function Sunday 6 January• Victorian State team dinner – Monday 7 January at Miss Maud’s, cnr Murray & Pier

Streets, Perth.• Teams Carnival presentation dinner – Friday 11 January• Catering and bar facilities available at the venues• BBQ night each night (except for the State Dinner and Presentation Dinner)

MembershipTeam members must be members of Tennis Seniors Victoria or a $20 temporary membership will apply. Any player who is not a member of Tennis Seniors Victoria will not be considered to represent Australia.

Event costs$110 per team member for a week’s tennis and social activities.

TransportTransport is provided regularly during the day from the Headquarters to and from all tennis venues.

Nominations & SelectionEntries for team selection close on Monday 10 SeptemberEntry forms and a Player Release forms are attached to this flyer or can be downloaded at www.tennisseniorsvictoria.com.auTeams are selected and graded by the State selectors. Whilst every attempt is made to retain teams as nominated the selectors retain the right to make up the strongest first team of each age group if possible.

Uniform RequirementThe Victorian uniform consisting of navy shorts for men and a navy skirt for women is required to be worn for the Championships.

The Victorian shirt is available to purchase for $25 plus postage. The order form is available on our Website or by ringing Rob Hughes 9801-2939.

Week 2• Individual singles and doubles events in 5 year age groups from 35+ to 75+• The winners become the 2013 Australian Champions for their age bracket• Prize money is awarded• At the completion of the event both the mens and womens teams are selected in Seniors

(35-55) age groups to represent Australia in the ITF World Teams competitions in Antalya, Turkey from 18-23 March 2013. Super Seniors teams will be selected following the Australian Claycourt Championships in March 2013.
