The Cathedral Parish of St. Raphael is the merger of three historic parishes located within a few blocks of the Capitol Square.

Buildings at Holy Redeemer and St. Patrick provide the current facilities for the parish. Mass is offered every day in both churches. The parish rectory is at the Holy Redeemer site, while the offices are at the St. Patrick location.

Old St. Raphael Cathedral was destroyed by arson in 2005. Bishop Morlino has announced his intention to erect a new cathedral on the same site. In the meantime, an outdoor Way of the Cross is located there.

Welcome Todd Plumley! As of the beginning of this past week, we have a very valuable new member of our parish team — Todd Plumley, just hired to be the maintenance man for the parish. Todd has been self-employed for the last 36 years, doing floor refinishing and interior painting in Ro-chelle, Illinois. Todd brings a wealth of skills that will be very helpful in taking care of our venerable (read: “old”) buildings. Todd and his wife Martha, have recently purchased a home in Madi-son. In Rochelle, Todd was very involved at St. Patrick Parish — teach-ing religious education and taking Holy Communion to the homebound. He is also a very active and enthusiastic member of the Knights of Co-lumbus. Todd had already stepped forward to coordinate the ushers at our 9:00 Sunday Mass. So Todd brings to his new position not just prac-tical skills, but a great commitment to our parish. Welcome, Todd!

New Musical Settings for the Mass Parts Beginning this weekend and for the remainder of the summer, we are

using new musical settings for the sung Mass parts. All the music we are

using for the summer can be found in the Worship hymnal. The numbers

for the Mass parts will remain posted in both our churches, along with

the hymns that change each week. The Mass parts involved and the

Coffee & Doughnuts Next Sunday The monthly Coffee & Doughnut reception will take place after the 11:00 am Mass at St. Patrick next Sunday, June 17th. All parishioners and visi-tors are invited to join us for food and fellowship. Donations to cover the costs are gratefully accepted. Those who are new to the parish or are yet unregistered are espe-cially invited to attend and visit the registration table to meet someone from the parish.

Volunteers Needed at Capitol Lakes Several opportunities to help others are available at Capitol Lakes, 333 W. Main Street. Positions are available once a month, or as often as desired:

Tuesdays from 9:45 am to 11:00 am: to help transport residents to the 10:30 am Mass at Capitol Lakes.

Sundays: bring Holy Communion to residents at Capitol Lakes. Can finish in time to attend the 11:00 am Mass at St. Patrick.

Thank you for your prayers and support! After six years of study and priestly formation at Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity in Saint

Paul, MN, I have been called to be ordained to the priesthood of Jesus Christ by Bishop Morlino. The Mass of Ordination will be celebrated on June 29th, 2018 at 7:30 pm at Saint Maria Goretti Parish. After ordina-tion, I will begin my priestly ministry as the parochial vicar at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Sun Prairie, WI. Prayers for my priesthood and for the people I will be ministering to in the com-ing years are appreciated.

The community at the Cathedral Parish has played a significant role in my journey to

the priesthood. After moving back to my home state of Wisconsin, from living and working for a few years in Des Moines, IA, I entered the RCIA program here at the parish in October of 2008. The following spring, I came into full communion with the Church at the Easter Vigil Mass celebrated by Bishop Morlino. After receiving the many graces and joys of entering the Church founded by Jesus Christ, I continued to discern God’s call to the priesthood for the next few years as a member of the parish. I was involved with young adult ministry, a weekly ador-er at the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel at Holy Redeemer, a member of the RCIA leadership team, and served at Mass at the parish. Even during my time in seminary, the parish and the community have continued to be a “home” for me to return to, when I have been back in the diocese during academic breaks. I truly feel blessed to be a part of the Cathedral Parish and receive the fruits of the strong faith life which is present here under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I pray the Lord continues to bless the Cathedral Parish, Msgr. Holmes, and all of you as we continue to lead others to Jesus Christ and become configured to His Sacred Heart.

Summer Book Study Group begins June 19th A summer small group book study on the new book "The Power of Si-lence Against the Dictatorship of Noise" by Robert Cardinal Sarah will meet this summer to read and discuss the book. We will meet on Tues-day evenings at 6:30 p.m. starting Tuesday, June 19th. We will read one chapter a week before each meeting, and read the first chapter before we meet on June 19th. We will not meet the week of the 4th of July. We will meet at St. Patrick. Young Adult Brunch This Sunday Join us for brunch this Sunday, June 10th, after the 11:00 am Mass at St. Patrick. Our normally scheduled first Sunday brunch was transferred to the second Sunday this month to not conflict with our Corpus Christi procession last Sunday. Cash donations to help defray the cost of the brunch are greatly appreciated.

Theology on Tap Theology on Tap is a monthly speaker series where 20s & 30s are invited to join us for engaging talks by some of the leading thinkers, speakers, educators, innovators, and activists in the nation as they share their in-sights on various contemporary issues facing young adults today. PARA REFLEXIONAR

Te amo ¡pero no lo manifiesto! Yo te amo, Señor, pero a veces siento que soy avaro de ese amor, que no pienso, que no reparo, que si he conocido lo que es amarte, ¡sea posible que no lo grite a los "cuatro vientos"! Y no solo que no lo grite sino que guarde silencio a veces por respeto humano, porque no se sonrían burlonamente, por no entrar en discusión. ¡Qué gran cobardía! ¡Perdón, mi amado Jesús !. El Papa Francisco nos lo pide. La Iglesia nos lo pide y Tú mi Jesús Sacramentado, nos lo pediste desde hace muchos siglos, pero no nos animamos a dar la respuesta con deci-sión, con una postura radical y valiente. La respuesta tiene que ser ahora y desde este momento. Tenemos un serio y grave compro-miso, como hijos de Dios, de ser verdaderos apóstoles. Este compromiso me enfrenta pri-mero, con los más cercanos, con los seres que me rodean, con las personas que forman mi familia y mi entorno. En todo momento, tú nos pides, Señor, que estemos "en pie de lucha", que quiere decir que no deje pasar la ocasión para acer-carme a quién pudiera sentir o pensar que me necesita. Solemos decir: " No, yo no me meto, yo no digo nada, cada quién con su vida". Es cierto que a veces no es fácil abordar o penetrar en la forma de vivir de las personas, pero si están muy cerca de nosotros, tal vez no sea tan difícil buscar la ocasión para poder brindarle, a esa persona, nuestro apoyo y consuelo, hablándole de Dios, del amor que nos tiene, de que trate de encontrar o recuperar esa fe que no se sabe en qué mo-mento se perdió y orar, orar mucho por esa persona, ante Ti, ante este misterio de amor que nos brindas diariamente ¡Tú mi Jesús Sacramenta-do!. Tú nos oyes siempre y la oración puede no cambiar las cosas, pero si cambia los corazones y la forma de ver las cosas. Ya no podemos decir: "Eso hay que dejárselo a los sacerdotes". Los sacerdotes son pocos y la mies es mucha. No dejes que lo olvidemos ha llegado nuestro momento. Si estamos convencidos de que tenemos la VERDAD, en nuestra reli-gión católica, es indispensable que esa VERDAD, la trasmitamos con el mismo ardor, con muchísimo más ardor que invitamos y casi empujamos a los amigos animándolos para que vayan a ver una obra de teatro o pelí-cula, que nos pareció excelente o que no se pierdan un paseo o lugar sen-sacional porque los queremos y deseamos que disfruten tanto como no-sotros lo disfrutamos. Seguirte a Ti, mi Jesús, es una aventura tan mara-villosa para el ser humano que en ello hemos de poner toda la fuerza de nuestra existencia. Seguirte a Ti, mi Jesús, es participar de la verdad su-blime de sabernos hijos de Dios y herederos del Cielo pero no para noso-tros solos. No tengo que tener miedo de hablar de Dios, de Ti, Jesús, de la Santísi-ma Virgen a los demás. Hay tanta ansia en el corazón de los hombres y mujeres de encontrar un camino. y nosotros les podemos hablar te ti, del único Camino, del que dijo: "Yo soy la luz, el camino, la verdad y la vi-

¡Qué triste no compartir, no participar a los demás de esa grandeza de amor que ciega la vista por ser más luminosa que el mismo sol!. Hemos de ser valientes con nuestra fe y proclamarla. Ayúdanos, Jesús para hablar con los que nos rodean, de esta "gran ex-periencia" que aún en medio de los sufrimientos, nos traerá la paz en nuestro diario caminar por la vida.

Pastoral de Niños y Pre-Adolescentes Los niños y niñas de 4 a 12 años (y si se puede jovencitos también) se reú-nen todos los jueves a las 6:00 pm en el comedor de la Iglesia de Holy Redeemer. En estas reuniones se enseña a los niños a conocer y amar a Dios, a iniciarse en los misterios de la fe, a educarles el corazón, a acer-carles a Jesús y a María, a inculcarles valores y comportamientos como los que tuvo Jesús en su infancia, y a desarrollar un profundo amor al Santo Rosario. Todo esto es un trabajo muy valioso y es una gran bendición. Sin em-bargo, como es un arduo trabajo, pedimos a los padres que sean constan-tes al traer a sus hijos, y de ser posible, que también participen ellos. Grupo Juvenil Los jóvenes de 13 a 21 años se reúnen dos miércoles al mes a las 7:00 pm en la Iglesia de St. Patrick. Bienvenido Todd Plumley! Desde el principio de la semana pasada, tenemos un miembro muy valioso para el equipo de la parroquia: Todd Plumley, quien ha sido recién contratado en el área de mantenimien-to. Todd ha trabajado por cuenta propia du-rante los últimos 36 años, realizando trabajos de acabado de piso y pintura interior en Ro-chelle, Illinois. Todd trae una gran cantidad de habilidades que serán muy útiles en el cui-dado de nuestros edificios venerables (por no llamarlos: "viejos"). Todd y su esposa Martha, recientemente han comprador una casa en Madison. En Ro-chelle, Todd estaba muy involucrado en la Parroquia St. Patrick Parish — enseñando educación religiosa, o lle-vando la comunión a los enfermos. También es un active y entusiasta miembro de los Caballeros de Colon. ¡Bienvenido Todd!
