: A message from JD :

Thank you all for the support that you have

provided throughout the term. Term 1 was

tough as we attempted to develop alot of

things in a such a short space of time. It is

clear that we have taken a massive step in

the right direction but there is still a lot we can

do to continue moving forward.

I am excited about what the winter season

has instore (We have our fingers crossed for

some more grand final appearances). The

year 7’s showed a lot of promise in term 1, will

it continue into the winter sports??? Lets hope

that our senior students can learn something

from our junior students and begin to show us

both the commitment and performances that

we know they are capable of.

Thank you to those who made them selves

available to help out during the holidays, your

efforts do not go unnoticed, I really

appreciate it.

I hope you all had a great break and it that

you had some time to relax and rejuvinate

your selves for what is going to be a great

term of ACS sport. See you all next week!!!

FEBRUARY - The Newbie Award - Josh Papaioannou

The year 7 table tennis team are not only undefeated, but they are winning most

of their games convincingly. Josh has not only had success with his team but he

has also shown a great desire to see his team develop by including all of the

players in the squad and challenging them to play at a higher ranking each week.

Josh has shown a great commitment to his team and to the sports programme at

Loyola. Welcome to the team Josh.

MARCH - Coaches Favourite - Seb Zancan

As we all know Seb has a passion for Soccer, but he might correct you and tell you it’s

“Football”. Regardless of what we call it, Seb has shown a massive commitment to the

teams that he has been involved in. He puts a lot of time and effort into training and

preparing for games and is always willing to put his hand up to help. I can always count on

Seb to say “Is ther e anything that needs to be done???” Seb’s enthusiasm, work ethic and

commitment are just three of the numerous attributes that he brings to Loyola Sport.

Below are the ladder standings as of the end of term 1, games will continue in term 4

PLEASE NOTE: Y 7/8 LADDERS DO NOT INCLUDE 14/2 GAME V ST MICHAELS (Rnd9)

PLEASE NOTE: Y9 WE HAVE PLAYED 2 GAMES LESS THAN SOME OF THE OTHER SCHOOLS.

JANUARY - Mr Enthusiasm - Jack Pitts

Along with Ms Annie Malesic, Jack took on the year 9 girls volleyball team. Jack clearly spent

hours preparing for tryouts and training, with diagrams and drills coming out of his ears. His

enthusiasm was and still is, overwhelming. It was obvious that Jack wanted these girls to

succeed and did everything within his power to bring these girls together and have them

working as a strong unit of volleyball awesomeness. I almost forgot to mention that Jack drives

down from Ballarat to coach with us, now that’s commitment.

 PAGE 4 LOYOLA ACS COACHES

As we run tryouts again it gives us a chance to look at the bigger picture, there will be over 1000 kids

involved and almost 300 at each year level. If you have alot of kids interested in your sport I encourage you

to take a step back and look at the group as a whole, not just the players who stand out because of their

ability. It may be a good opportunity to select a child who shows great leadership qualities or who is highly

encouraging towards others. It may also be an opportunity to encourage kids to try other sports, as some

teams have well and beyond the number required. I also suggest that you take the time to prepare for the

tryouts with adequte drills and game based activities for large groups. I will do my best to bring in

additional coaches for tryouts if you require them.

Adriana completed

her first reverse park and plastered the

evidence all over

Michael Cocks and the Old
