The dreaded head lice are around again and students need to be treated to remove any lice, nits or eggs before returning to school. It is important to comb through your child’s hair carefully on a regular basis to check for any infestation. Regular combing with conditioner is very helpful. on the 6th of March

Relaxed races and fun events. Parents/guardians welcome!

WHAT WE BOUGHT WITH OUR EARN AND LEARN POINTS FROM

2017!

The education department now requires schools to contact parents/guardians on the actual day of an absence if the school has not been previously notified. So if your child is away from school and the school has not be notified in person, by phone call, note or Flexibuzz, then you will receive a friendly phone call asking about your child. We’re not that scary– we promise!

If the office is unattended, please place any notes or money into the

mail slot below the front desk.

We would like to congratulate Mark

Simpson on earning his motorbike licence!

Congratulations also go to James Simpson

who has been competing in motorbike

racing for years and has been so successful

he has now moved into racing in

professional races!

Well done boys!

Hello travellers! You were right, I had visited Canada last time! But can you guess this weeks destination? Here are some clues to help you: 1. The RMS Titanic was actually built in this country. 2. The longest place name in this country is Muckanaghederdauhaulia. 3. 88% of the population are Catholic. 4. This country is snake free. 5. According to their birthday traditions, people hold the birthday child upside down and

bump the head slightly on the floor. The bumps correspond to the age of the child. It is believed that this tradition brings good luck.

6. This country is known throughout the world for its vast amount of castles. It’s history is dotted with wars and violence, so castles were built to protect families from invaders.

Research in books and the internet and when you think you know the answer write it down with your name and place it in the Jelly Bean basket. A name will be pulled out to win a prize at assembly! Best of luck!

Signing off!

Hai Semua, This week the students began their tennis lessons with Melissa (tennis coach from Broadford). The students worked really well in their lesson and were very enthusiastic about their lesson. Both classes were taught how to do a volley and did activities on that. It was great to see all students participate in all the activities and have a go and enjoy their time. If any students do tennis lessons or have a racquet at home they are more than welcome to bring it along each Monday to use in their PE lesson. Did you know that the Indonesian flag is Red and White? Merah dan Putih. This week P-2 students had fun making the Indonesian flag. They practised saying their name in Indonesian- nama saya…. Years 3-6 were introduced to Gestures on Instructions- using actions as you speak. After watching a clip on Gestures and practicing, they then made posters. Some examples were- sit, read, listen, good morning, good bye, quiet and asking to go to the toilet. Look out for the posters in the class illustrating the gesture. Terima Kasih, (Thank you) Samapi Jumpa, (Until next time/see you later) -Bu Cullum

Kaylee, Oscar, Yaacoub and Joey showing off their

Indonesian flags.

It has been incredible to see all the happy faces returning to school for 2018! It has been an excellent start to the year! The students have returned to school with happiness and positivity and this is showing through their work. The 3-6 room is a pleasure to be in, the grade is working well together and has been enjoying the new learning space. The students are constantly demonstrating our school values of Bouncing Back, Compassion, Respect, Personal Best and Teamwork, in the yard and in the classroom. Welcome back and keep up the good work Year 3-6! -Mrs Zala

What did Annie spy this week? Why Pumpernickel and his parrot friends sitting on top of our sunflowers and bending them over to eat every last seed out of them! We hope they enjoyed their tasty meal because our sunflowers are no more now!
