Father’s Day Breakfast

Today we held our Father’s Day Breakfast; it was a great atmosphere with hundreds of smiling faces all around. Many thanks to all the teachers and staff who assisted in making this a special time for our Dads to spend with their children. Thanks also to all the fathers who attended as you play a critical role in supporting our students’ education. I would also like to thank the helpers who assisted in wrapping presents for our Dads and who helped at the stall this morning. We hope you enjoy your weekend.

Carpark, Parking and Bike Road Safety

We would like to ask all parents, and especially students, to avoid using the carpark gates as an entry and exit point for the school. The area around the carpark is out of bounds and students should not pass through it under any circumstances. All students, who ride to school, by law, must wear a helmet. Please ensure students wear helmets when they are riding to and from school. We continue to have issues around parking in the bus bay. Please do not double park to let students out as this is extremely dangerous. Please adhere to the road signage around the school.

Are You Leaving Us?

We are currently in the process of looking at our class structures for 2019. We realise some families move or have a variety of changes occur which may result in them having to leave our school. If you do anticipate that you and your family will not be with us next year, please fill in the slip and return it to Mrs Turner in the office as soon as possible or ring us on 45751424 or email [email protected]

This information is vital to us, so we can ensure we form the correct classes and support structures for our students.

Conjunctivitis

We have had a number of instances of conjunctivitis in K-2 over the last few weeks. Please be cautious and alert for the signs and symptoms. We attempt to reduce the risk of transmission at school as best we can. A link below to NSW Health will give you more information about this disease and some other common childhood infectious diseases.

https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Pages/childhood.aspx

NAPLAN

As you would have undoubtedly heard, NAPLAN results were released this week. Individual student reports will be sent home to parents when the school receives them. The tests cover skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. NAPLAN results provide our school with an annual snapshot of cohort achievement, trend data and of the learning progress of individuals. We use this data to inform curriculum planning and target instruction, but this is only one aspect of the assessment information we use at school. A report on the school’s results will be raised at a P&C meeting in Term 4.

Reports and Sentral

100% of teachers and parents who responded to the report survey were open to changing the format of the reports for Semester 2, 2018. Subsequently, we have purchased the school management software Sentral and are working on developing a new report format. A draft document will be available to comment on at the October P&C meeting. Over the next 12 months Sentral will be phased in to manage many key components of school and student data.

Thank you

Kindergarten Science- Living Things!

This term, Kindergarten are learning about living things in Science. We are very engaged in this unit as we get to have the Henny Penny Chickens in our rooms for two weeks. They are teaching us about life cycles and giving us an interesting topic to write about! We have particularly enjoyed watching the eggs hatch.

We have 7 chickens and 7 more eggs still to hatch!

How exciting! A chicken is hatching!

We get to carefully hold the chickens.

Welcome to the world little one!
