Students V. Staff Basketball Year 6 and 7 students put their skills up against a staff team on the basketball court in the last week of Term 3. The staff recruited well and managed to secure Mrs Remmerswaal’s husband, Tom, who is a State Basketball League (SBL) player to be in a staff shirt for the day. Tom provided plenty of highlights with a variety of dunks throughout the game. The students managed to score a few baskets and definitely had a lot of fun.

Furniture to Take Away We have a number of tables, desks and shelves that are no longer being used by the school that are available for you to take home and put to good use. The furniture is on the veranda next to the library for you to have a look at. Please come and speak with somebody in the office if you would like any of these items and then arrange a time to collect them.

Dudley Park’s Got Talent The final of our talent show was held in the last week of Term 3. 1st Place: Boys Dance Group (Kyle Rudman, Kobe Farmer, Tyler Hampton & Mitchell Hampton)

2nd Place (Draw): Nasman Donovan (Singing) Jolin Fono (Played guitar and sang)

3rd Place: Year 1 Dance Group (Room 1)

Congratulations to all winners and thank you to all contestants for displaying your talents.

Prize Draw Winners Congratulations to Jarrah and Izabell who were the winners of our prize draw at the last assembly. Both students made it into the draw with excellent behaviour, attendance and for wearing their uniform every day. Jarrah took home a digital camera and Izabell won a games pack. Our next prize draw will be at the assembly in Week 6. Make sure that you are there on the day to be in with a chance.

Health Issues Headlice Head lice are tiny insect parasites that live on your head and feed on your scalp (the skin covering your head). They reproduce by laying their eggs (nits) on your hair shaft (the part of your hair closest to the scalp). Head lice are not dangerous, do not carry diseases, and are not a sign of poor hygiene (cleanliness). Please check your child’s hair, treat if necessary and return to school once treatment has been completed.

Impetigo (School Sores) Common symptoms of impetigo include: The skin itches and reddens A collection of blisters forms, commonly around the nose and mouth The blisters pop and weep a yellow, sticky fluid The area develops a raised and wet-lookingcrust The scab dries and falls off The skin completely heals after a few days. Please check your children for any symptoms and contact your doctor if you have any concerns.

Child and Parent Centre You have probably noticed that the new building near our oval now looks finished. This is the new Dudley Park Child and Parent Centre. The official opening will be on Friday 21 November with Ministers Collier (Education) and Hames (Health) attending the event. A community opening will be scheduled after the official opening and we are looking forward to welcoming you to the centre at this time. The Child and Parent Centre aims to improve the health, education and development of students aged 0—8 years old. The centre will have a Community Health Nurse, Speech Therapist and Councillor on site and will be able to bring many other services closer to our community.

Halloween Disco The Halloween Disco will be held in our Rec Centre on Friday 31 October. There are prizes for the best Halloween costumes and plenty of food, drinks and glow products for sale. Make sure that you have completed your permission form and returned it with your money to the box in the front office. There will not be any ticket sales available at the door. If you would like another copy of the permission form and information sheet please collect it from the front office.

Junior Disco 5.00pm—6.45pm Senior Disco 7.30pm—9.30pm

To make sure that our disco runs smoothly we require a number of volunteers to help out on the night. If you are available to help please come and see us in the office.

Youthcare Calendar Youthcare support our school by providing funding for our Chaplain, Mrs Greer. In order to help out our school, Youthcare is raising funds through the sale of its annual calendar which can be purchased from the school office for $5.00.

Arts Display and Community Breakfast Come along on Thursday 6 November to our community breakfast and art display. Each class will have a display board with works that they have created in the theme of Fibres and Fabrics.
