NEWS, NOTES AND HAPPENINGS

Hawkesbury ‘Design an Ad’ Competition

Some classes from Stage 3 decided to enter in the Hawkesbury ‘Design an Ad’ competition with the Hawkesbury Gazette. This consisted of many schools across the Hawkesbury region designing an advertisement poster for a local business. Harrison from 5/6C did an advertisement on Munro’s Meats and Heidi from 5/6H designed an ad for Parravans Caravans. Heidi came away with second place, receiving a prize from the Gazette, and Harrison came away with third place also receiving a prize. Wilberforce just narrowly missed out on first place. Well done to both of those students and to everyone else from Stage 3 that entered the competition.

Happy holidays!

Swimming Carnival 2019

The 2019 Swimming Carnival will be held on Thursday 21st February. Students in Years 3 to 6 and children in Year 2, who turn 8 during 2019 and can swim 50m unassisted, will be invited to attend. Notes will be sent home early in Term 1 2019.

STAGE NEWS

Stage 1

Digging Dinosaurs Incursion

After recess we went into the hall for the Digging Dinosaurs incursion. The scientist Danny started to talk about Velociraptors. Did you know that they are only knee high?

Jamie M – 1/2A

Danny asked us if we think dinosaurs roar. We all said yes but he said that they didn’t roar. He picked up a big blow horn and he put a balloon around one end and then he put a small bit of hose in the balloon. He blew through the hose and it made a loud quaking sound which was the T rex call. He made another hilarious sound and he said

that was what the Woolly Mammoth sounded like.

Caitlyn M – 1/2A

Stage 2 & 3

Movie Mania Day

Our Year 3 to 6 students had a great time watching the Grinch last week as a reward for all their hard work. It is certainly a different movie experience with so many students in the cinema!
