‘The Skunk with no Funk’ written by Rebecca Young and illustrated by
Leila Rudge. Woody is not what his family expected. He is a skunk
with NO funk. A failure. A flop. An odourless plop. Poor Woody!
What is he going to do?
‘Big Pet Day’ by Lisa Shanahan and illustrations by Gus Gordon.
Everyone is so excited about bringing their pets to school that they don’t
notice Lily’s pet isn’t quite like the others. When the ordinary animals
cause a commotion, it’s up to Lily and her dragon to save the day. A
funny and heart warming story.

Wilvandee ~ Menindee Term 3, 2014
On Wednesday the 17th of Sep-
tember, 13 eager students,
along with Miss Sellens, Mr
Hoadley, Mrs Johnstone and
Mr Robertson, travelled to
Menindee to participate in
Wilvandee. After two hours of
singing and dodging emus, we
ar-
rived safely and ready to participate. Over
the two days students participated in sports
including basketball, Oztag, handball and la-
crosse against Menindee stu-
dents. Our students faced some
tough competition, however
they played strongly and dis-
played good sportsmanship,
which was pleasing. On
Wednesday night, students
danced the night away at the Menindee
Central School disco before getting
some much needed sleep. Thursday
morning saw students compete in their
final sport before taking on the teachers
from Ivanhoe and Menindee Central
Schools in an intense game of dodge
ball. Overall, teachers and students had
a fantastic time, despite Menindee win-
ning by one point.
The staff and students would like to say a huge thankyou to Mr
Roberston, who generously volunteered his time to drive the bus
to and from Menindee. It was very much appreciated by the
Ivanhoe School community.
