Regional Groups
CWVYS has developed a successful Regional Group structure.
Regional Co-ordinators are:

The Regional Co-ordinators support members facilitate Regional Group meetings and also attend meetings and events on behalf of CWVYS in order to ensure a CWVYS presence.
The latest round of Regional Group meetings took place in late June/early July and included guest speakers from Careers Wales and YMCA Wales Community College. These were notable for a record attendance in North Wales and an increase in attendees at all other sessions; with 16 members present at the Central South meeting.
The next round of meetings takes place as follows: - North Wales: 25th September; - Central South: 1st October; - South East: 8th October; - South West & Mid: 7th October.
CWVYS websiteWe are pleased to say that the new CWVYS website will be launched later this month! We shall be retaining our domain name of www.cwvys.org.uk - look out for more details shortly!

New CWVYS AdministratorHannah Linton has joined us this week as our part-time Administrator here at CWVYS.
Hannah will be working across 3 days per week (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday) at Baltic House and can be contacted via [email protected] or by calling 02920 473498.
CWVYS StaffingCWVYS bade a fond farewell to Julie Skelton at the end of June as she left her role as Operations Manager for pastures new. Julie had been with us for nearly two years and in that time has managed the CQFW Phase 4 programme and led on the development of Youth Work Consortia amongst other things. We are sorry to see her go but know that several members will be seeing Julie again as she will be continuing to project manage the ‘Getting Together’ programme as an external consultant.

Spotlight on a CWVYS member organization!BAD Bikes
After Justin Miles lost his mother when he was just 10 years old, Andy McKay provided much need support.Justin, who is now 21, attended regular activities at Bridgend BAD Bikes, in Blackmill. Justin says having someone to talk to helped him get through a very difficult and confusing time.
‘I first met Andy when I was about nine years old and when my mum passed away a year later he was always there for me. I ended up going there often and it was nice to have someone to talk to’
‘I was an angry young man with a lot of issues and I would certainly have gone off the rails if I hadn’t regularly attended. It gave me loads of opportunities that I would never have had. I did lots of sporting activities; I did a graffiti project, and an air rifle day, and learned how to maintain my bike, loads of stuff like that.’
The project, has been given charity status, and has received regular grants from BBC Children in Need, brings together young people from deprived areas in the Ogmore Valley, which helps them strive for careers and gives them positive outlooks and new perspectives on life.
Both Andy McKay and Justin Miles are to apair on BBC’s Bargain Hunt, after filming a special episode in support of BBC Children in Need, inviting fans to the show to bid along live in the auction.
Andy Mckay and Justin Miles sported the blue for BBC Bargain Hunt alongside Kate Bliss who is a regular on the show.

Project Manager Andy has been involved with the charity for over 10 years and also helped set it up, ensuring that local young people stay active and engaged within their community.
‘BAD Bikes had helped so many young people. Just last year 113 children and young people accessed the project for advice, 17 found employment, and 16 worked for qualifications and we had plenty of activities planned for the summer holidays, including a trip to Mardi Gras, and cycling in Pembrokeshire and the Forest of Dean.
‘As a youth worker, you never really get a measure of your own success until you hear the young people talking about you and I’ll be honest with you, I well up sometimes when I hear them talking.’
‘You never know what sort of impact you have on the young people until you hear them talking without scripts or prompts or prior knowledge.’

CWVYS QUALITY MARK – CELEBRATING SUCCESS!
CWVYS proudly presented Cwmbran Centre for Young People (CCYP) with the CWVYS Quality Mark on Monday 23rd June - kicking off Youth Work Week in fine style!
CCYP is the first youth work organisation in Wales (the world!) to attain the CWVYS Quality Mark - we celebrated with young people, staff, volunteers and Board members at CCYP.
Entertainment for the event was provided by some incredibly talented young people: Chelsie Smallman and Anna Cullerton sang so brilliantly; young people who had designed and upcycled clothes as part of the Money for Life challenge; dancing by Unique Freaks – all involved in the Randomz social enterprise, set up by CCYP – check out their website at www.randomz.co.uk
Guests included Rob Norris (Chair of CWVYS), Sue Muxworthy (CWVYS Vice-President) and Dr Howard Williamson (Professor of European Youth Policy at the University of South Wales) who kindly presented 20 learners with their certificates for completing accredited units at Level 2 on the CWVYS Induction programme ‘A Stepping Stone to Youth Work’.A fantastic afternoon was had by all, Oh...and we had cake!!

“For a child with a parent in prison, having someone to speak up for them can make all the difference to their achievement and behavior in the classroom. As schooling is the most universal service provision for children, it is crucial that schools address the needs of children affected by parental imprisonment. Many schools are making good progress in this area, but we know from our work that the quality varies. ACCREDITED TRAINING Youth Information Work for Practitioners
YMCA Wales Community College is offering, in partnership with CWVYS, the opportunity for you to attend an accredited course on Youth Information Work for Practitioners. This course is aimed at professionals who provide information services for young people for example: Youth Workers, Career advisers, librarians, practitioners in mainstream education etc. This training will help learners improve their own knowledge and skills within Youth Information and allow learners to gain the European YINTRO certificate. Assessment Learners will be asked to complete a number of individual assessments along with 4 assignments: A1 – Written assignment (History of YIW within a Welsh and European context) A2 – Produce a YI product (in partnership with young people create a YI product and evaluate its effectiveness) A3 – Written assignment (Contemporary YI services including the use of technology) A4 – Portfolio of evidence (to include formative assessed tasks and learner PDP)
The course will take place on: Tuesday 8th July 2014 Thursday 10th July 2014 Tuesday 22nd July 2014 Thursday 24th July 2014 (4 full days - 9.00am - 4.30pm)
Please note that all learners wishing to access this course must complete the assessed tasks (failure to do so could result in a charge)
This is a College funded course, course costs will be subsidised by the College for organisations that have a service level agreement in place for 2013/14.

Community Music Wales will be running a community music tutor training in Wrexham and Cardiff this July.
This is a five day practical course designed to give an understanding of community music and a taste of Community Music Tutor Training. This course is useful for those who have some experience of working with groups and would like to consolidate their skills. This course is also useful to those who work with community groups and would like to explore using music activity in their work.The course covers a range of theory and practice in community music, with practical workshops from professional community music trainers.
The training is accredited through Agored Cymru and thanks to the Arts Council of Wales lottery funding we are able to offer it at the amazing price of £20*.
Community Music Wales has been running community music tutor training courses since 1992. Since its inception, CMW has striven to ensure a high standard of delivery and of sharing best practice. CMW has had a huge success rate with over 500 people going through its courses. Community music can have a huge impact on skills, confidence and self-esteem. It can be used in a variety of ways, with a diverse range of groups, to provide hugely enjoyable and engaging activities.

Report on young people’s skillsThink tank Demos, supported by The Scout Association, has published Scouting for Skills. It recommends replacing traditional desk-based coursework projects with volunteering-style tasks. It also proposes that employers should recognize the benefit of employee volunteering and offer staff extra leave to pursue it.
The report also brings together, for the first time, all WHO guidance on the full spectrum of health issues affecting adolescents. These include tobacco, alcohol and drug use, HIV, injuries, mental health, nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, and violence. It recommends key actions to strengthen the ways countries respond to adolescents’ physical and mental health needs.

We work with organizations to offer short- term structured placements to keen interns with specialist knowledge and skills in areas such as education, fundraising, marketing, media, IT and research. Our interns are of all ages and from all walks of life - the only criteria is to have the relevant knowledge and skills. They may be seeking a career change and would like to test their abilities in a new environment, or they may just want to gain some valuable work experience – either way, they’re certain to be able to help you.
Examples of internships include:Business feasibility study / Marketing and promotion project / Carbon footprint monitoring / Community consultation / Event organisation / Graphic design / Research / Photography / Policy Review / Website design / Writing case studies / Volunteer engagement review

Placements are generally one to three days per week for two to three months, and are intended to complement job seeking or study while providing something relevant to enhance a CV. The only direct cost to your organisation is travel expenses.

Groundwork are looking to support employers in the voluntary sector who cancreate a new job for a young person in North WalesGroundwork North Wales is now looking to create more opportunities for young people. As the contracted management agent for the Third Sector Strand of the Welsh Governments’ Jobs Growth Wales programme, Groundwork is delivering across six counties in North Wales. Employers receive full reimbursement of wages at the National Minimum Wage and NI contributions, for up to six month that the young person is employed through the programme. Employers are also supported through the recruitment process and given free advice and support to help source the right candidates.

ASPIRE ASPIRE is a new project funded by the Big Lottery to support parents aged 14-25 years in Flintshire and Wrexhem. It brings together the experience, knowledge and expertise of Barnardo’s Cymru, Flintshire Mind, Careers Choices, Flintshire and Wrexham Family Information Services and Glyndwr Unversity.
The ASPIRE team will work with young parents to idenitify areas of personal, practical and parenting skills which they can enhance to enable them to develop both as parents and individuals.
The ultimate gaol will be to build self-esteem and confidence along with emotional and mental resilience so young parents can successfully undertake the difficult tranistion from adolescene to adulthood.
As part of our project we will be inviting all young parents and expectant partents to join us in our Drop-in groups that we will be holding around the local area.

Children in Wales would like to hear your views on the proposals to introduce a new legislative framework for supporting children and young people with additional learning needs. This will replace the current legislation for the assessment and provison of suppoort for children and young people with special educational needs in schools and learning difficulties and/or disabilites in post-16 education and training.

Get started with Football with Prince’s TrustThe Prince’s Trust are currently recuiting young poeple for Get Started with Footballm a free 5 day course run in partnership with Wrexham Football Club that will be running in July.
The course will run in Wrexham from Monday 21st July – Friday 25th July with a taster sesion on Tueday 15th July (10am-12pm) travel expenses will be reimbursed and lunch will be provided throughout the course.

The ‘Listening to you – Your health matters’ White Paper sets out a series of proposals for legislation to help furhter improve and protect people’s health and wellbeing in Wales. The proposals cover a range of public health issues, including action to reduce the harms to health caused by smoking, alcohol misuse and obesity. “Supporting Children and Young People with Autism Spectrum Condition” –Two day course for childcare and Leisure providers.
Accredited at Level 3 via the Open College Netwrok. Beaufort Park Hotel, Mold, 14th & 15th July 2014, 09:30-15:30. Course Led by: Sally Slater, Concept Training. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
The the costs of this training will be covered by the LA (Austism Grant). There are 20 places available and allocation will be based on a first come, first served basis.
The course is suitable for Childcare and Leisure Providers who may come into contact with children and Young People with Autism Spectrum Condition. The course is practical and requires no pre or post course work. All completing the course successfully will get 2 credits at OCN Level 3.

Understanding How to Safeguard the Welfare of Children and Young People- Accredited Training Level 2 through Agored Cymru16th July 2014, Cardiff.
A one day course aimed at anyone working directly or indirectly with children and young people in a wide range of workplace and community settings. The purpose of the training is to give participants confidence and essential knowledge on how to safeguard the children and young people in their enviroment.
The training is accredited thorugh Agored Cymru and participants will need to complete assessments to demonstrate learning. Upon successful completion of an assignment the participant will achieve 3 credits at Level 2. This unit forms part of the Welsh quality assurance framework for vocational training.

The Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust was established through an agreement between the Millennium Stadium and the Millennium Commission and its income is generated through a levy on every ticket purchased by people attending public events at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
The Trust strives to enrich the quality of life in Welsh communities by investing in inspirational sporting, arts, environmental and community-based projects that will have a lasting impression on the people who will benefit.

Rights and Justice- to promote racial justice and equality of opportunity as a basis for a harmonious multi-racial, multi-ethnic society in the UK.
Sustainable Future- to delvelop and promote sustainable, low-carbon alternatives to the current consumerist and growth-based paradigam.
Nothern Ireland- to fund work which would will contribute to the ongoing transformation of the Northern Ireland conflict.
Grants are made to a range of organizations. It is not necessary to be a registered charity to apply to the Trust; however, the Trust can only support work which is legally charitable as defined in UK law.

Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme
The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme provides one-off donations of between £500 and £4,000. The funding provided goes towards providing practical benefits, such as equipment and resources for projects that directly benefit children, the elderly, and adults and children with disabilities, living in the local communities around Tesco stores in the UK.

The Youth Challenge Fund
The Youth Challenge Fund is designed to give young people the opportunity to:
Enhance their international experience and intercultural awareness in a creative, practical and enjoyable way;
Pick an area of activity and develop skills in a UK-German context; Take an active role in a creative, hands-on team venture, with or without a
language element.
The possibilities for activities and themes you choose to undertake as part of the project are almost endless.
Grants provided through the Youth Challenge Fund go towards project resources, joint activities and costs for the visit to Germany, as a contribution to the overall costs. There are three deadlines each year for the Youth Challenge Fund, which are 31 January, 31 May, and 31 October.

Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowships
The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust opens its applications for its Travelling Fellowships in the summer. Fellowships provide British citizens, of all ages and all backgrounds to travel overseas and bring back inspiration, for the benefit of others in their communities and professions in the UK. No qualifications are required as every application is judged on the individual themselves and the merit of the project, although please check eligibility before applying.
Applications open in the summer for travelling the following year.
The application to completion timeline is approximately one year long and applicants must be 18 years of age to be eligible for a fellowship through the WCMT.

The Trust house Charitable Foundation's grants programme supports projects in the UK which address issues in rural communities and/or areas of urban deprivation. It awards around 300 grants totalling roughly £2 million each year. The Foundation awards Fast Track Grants of £5,000 and under, Small Grants up to £10,000 and Large Grants up to £30,000.
The Peter Cruddas Foundation aims to benefit disadvantaged and disengaged young people in the UK by ensuring their funding reaches those most in need. Those they cannot help financially, they hope to help in other ways through mentoring, business planning and networking. The deadline date for 2014 is 1 September.
The Big Lottery Fund has announced its newest funding programme which will bring together the environment and young people. The £30 million Our Environment Our Future programme will support projects that enable young people (aged 11-24) to improve their local environment and increase their employability through learning new skills. The Big Lottery Fund is seeking one UK-wide strategic partner to coordinate the programme. The deadline for Stage One applications is 16 May.
Awards for All, the small grants scheme from Big Lottery Fund, gives groups a quick and easy way to get small Lottery grants of between £300 and £10,000. The programme aims to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.
The APPG on Poverty has announced the Paul Goggins Memorial Prize. The prize, worth £3000, will be awarded to the best civil society initiative that can demonstrate that it has reduced poverty in a tangible way. To enter, the organization or project will need their local MP to nominate them before 5 October 2014.
The Ibrahim Foundation makes grants to organizations that aim to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the UK, both now and in the future. They like to consider projects that others may find hard to fund, perhaps because it breaks new ground, appears too risky, requires core funding or needs a more unusual form of financial help such as a loan. Grants range from £500 - £10,000. Extraordinary projects may receive grants up to £50,000. They are particularly interested in the following areas: Community-building; Strengthening non-profits; Environment; Supporting families.
The Triangle Trust 1949 Fund offers funding for specialist organizations working with careers or the rehabilitation of offenders or ex-offenders. Grants are available for up to £40,000 or 50% of the organization’s current annual income, whichever is lowest, per year for 3 years.
The Stuart Halberton Foundation provides grants for projects focused on People, Animal welfare, Armed forces or the Local community of Tynedale Valley. There are no deadlines for applications.

The Heritage Lottery Fund’s Young Roots grants programme aims to provide young people aged between 11 and 25 years-old with active roles in planning and delivering their own heritage projects. The programme, with an annual budget of £4million, now awards grants of between £10,000 and £50,000. Young Roots is a rolling programme, meaning you can apply anytime.

Big Potential, a BIG Lottery Fund grant fund, will deliver approximately £10m of grant funding over 3 years to eligible VCSE organizations with the aim of improving the sustainability, capacity and scale of VCSE organizations in order that they may deliver greater social impact. Eligible VCSE organizations will be able to access specialist one to one support from the Big Potential program partners before making an application for grants between £25,000 and £75,000 to undertake more in-depth investment readiness work with one of Big Potential's approved providers.
The Santander Social Enterprise Development Awards Growth Award aims to support charities and community groups looking to grow and develop their organization in order to improve their local community. This award category is administered and managed by the Community Foundations. Awards of £2,500, £5,000 or £10,000 are available to fund a capital item or growth project. The deadline for applications is 21 May 2014. The Social Ventures - Catalyst Award offers a prize of £5,000 to social enterprises looking to grow their business. Training programsInspire Motivate & Engage (IME) an ethical global learning provider, has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative providing funding for third sector training courses to employees who would not be able to access such programmes without financial support. The programme is offering accredited training as a gift in kind (up to £5,852) to charities across the UK. There are 200 places available.
Qualifications and equipment for young peopleThe Lawrence Atwell Charity aims to assist young people who come from a low-income background to become qualified or equipped to work in their chosen career. It provides grants (up to £1500) or loans for young people aged between 16 and 26 towards the cost of vocational training or equipment that is essential for work. Applicants may receive a one-off award or a series of payments across the duration of a course of study.
Instrument and Equipment Awards
Funded by the EMI Music Sound Foundation, these awards allow schools, music teachers and individuals in full time education to apply directly to the Foundation for assistance with the purchase of music instruments and/or equipment.
Funding for course and training opportunities are also eligible under the scheme. Grants up to £2,000 are available, and the deadline for the next round of applications is 10 September 2014.

Digital enterpriseHRH The Duke of York and Nominet Trust have created the Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, iDEA, an award scheme for 16-25 year olds with a flair for all things digital and an entrepreneurial spirit. Over the next five years, the scheme wants to support more than one million young people to pursue their own ideas, develop their digital skills and get to grips with the reality of business. In 2014 iDEA will support 1,000 young entrepreneurs during the pilot stage of the project and will invest over £150,000 in seed funding, with 20 of the best ideas set to receive a grant, mentor support and a business placement.
Community projectsFrom 1 April 2014 The Tudor Trust has made some changes to their funding guidelines. The main difference is a change to the questions asked for the application. The Tudor Trust makes grants, and provides other types of support, to voluntary and community groups working in any part of the UK. It particularly wants to help smaller, community-led organizations which work directly with people who are at the margins of society.

Disadvantagethe Lloyds Bank Foundation has launched new grant programs. Invest, Enable and Enhance –will offer short and long term grants. Support will be adapted to the needs of small and medium sized charities (income between £25,000 and £1 million) that are committed to delivering work which breaks or prevents cycles of disadvantage. The Enable Programme will provide smaller short term grants (up to a total £15,000 over two years). The Invest Programme will provide longer term core or delivery funding (to £25,000 per year for two or three years) for organizations delivering clear outcomes.
European funding The European Commission has published a Call for Proposals under the Erasmus Plus program with the aim of supporting the introduction or modernization of apprenticeships within initial vocational education and training (VET) systems. Grants will be for between €100,000 and €300,000 for up to 75% of eligible costs (a total of €4 million is available for this Call). The deadline for applications is 26 June.
Europe for Citizens Action Grants aim to strengthen remembrance and enhance capacity for civic participation at the European Union level. The program contributes by developing citizens' organizations’ capacity to engage citizens in the democratic life of the EU. A budget of €229 million has been proposed for 2014-2020. Match funding of between 30% and 50% is required. The next deadline for applications is 1 September 2014.
EnterpriseThe Lloyds Bank 2014 Enterprise Awards support students and graduates, who can win prize packages of up to £50,000 and a two year mentoring program to support their business ambitions. The deadline for applications is 23:59 on 23 July 2014.
Supporting young peopleThe Shackleton Foundation provide up to £10,000 of seed funding and support to enable aspiring leaders and social entrepreneurs to establish their own ventures to help young people in challenging circumstances. Applications should explain what the leader’s vision is, and how this vision meets a clear need and benefits disadvantaged and socially marginalized young people.Wessex Youth Trust is interested in supporting projects which provide opportunities to help, support and advance children and young people. Preference is given to pump-priming projects for development and more extensive fundraising initiatives. No minimum or maximum level of grant is specified. There are two annual deadlines: 1 November.
The Equitable Charitable Trust is an education charity that gives grants towards projects for children and young people under the age of 25 who are from disadvantaged backgrounds or disabled. The size of grants ranges from £3,000 to £30,000. Applications can be submitted at any time and are considered monthly by the Trustees.

Cash prizes of £10,000 are awarded to charities, small voluntary groups and other local projects that display innovation and effectiveness in addressing the root causes of poverty, turning lives around and reversing social breakdown. MSE Charity, the charitable fund of financial advice website MoneySavingExpert.com, can offer grant support for charities, self-help groups, and other community organizations to enable them to educate people across the UK about problems relating to consumer debt. It provides grants of up to £5,000. The next deadlines for applications are 30 September 2014 and 31 January 2015.
The Freemasons' Grand Charity, which has donated over £57 million since 1981, supports projects which deliver important services, complement the work of other charities or tackle issues that are less popular with other funders. Support for Vulnerable People and Youth Opportunities are two of the main areas of focus.
The Ernest Hecht Charitable Foundation awards grants that benefit the disadvantaged, with priority categories including: the vulnerable, the young, people who are mentally and physically disabled, and the promotion of the arts, sport and education. The Foundation distributes in the region of £200k each year.
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is promoting two schemes. Its Community Grant Program provides from £500 to £10,000 (previously £5,000) to organizations, community groups and social enterprises that can make a positive difference in our communities. . The Enterprising Communities Program aims to develop capacity and/or community assets in coalfield organizations to enable them to become more enterprising, sustainable, and investment ready.
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has a small open fund for projects and which are a good fit with their new strategic priorities for 2014-2019: participatory/socially-engaged performing arts; the marine environment; and transitions in later life. Grants average between £10,000 and £30,000.

The Steel Charitable Trust is a grant-making trust supporting general charitable purposes. Grants are made primarily to registered charities in the UK within the following funding areas:

You need to sit down with your mates and come up with a few ideas about how to make a difference to your community. Then, those ideas are put forward to a selection panel who will decide if they like the idea, and if they do, will fund your plans with a grant of up to £500 per project. So it’s well worth giving us a call.

The Foyle Foundation Small Grants Scheme is designed to support smaller charities in the UK with an annual turnover of less than £100,000 per annum, especially those

working at grass roots and local community level, in any field, across a wide range of activities. Grants of between £1,000 - £10,000 are available. There are no deadlines for submission.
The CLA Charitable Trust gives out about £80,000 per year to projects, mostly £1,000 - £2,000. Their objectives are:
To promote education about the countryside for young people from towns and cities and those who are disadvantaged.
To provide facilities for those who are disabled, who have learning difficulties or who are in some way disadvantaged to enjoy the benefits of the countryside
To support the advancement of education in agriculture, horticulture and conservation for disadvantaged people, particularly the young
The Causeway Youth Exchange provides grants for youth groups in Ireland and the UK to participate in educational group exchanges between the two countries. Annual deadlines are 1 May and 1 October.
NPT Homes – Community Development FundNPT Homes have an exciting new fund available to the communities of Neath Port Talbot called the Community Development Fund.
It’s an opportunity for local people to improve their environment, neighbourhood or community through identifying projects that can provide added value and wider community benefit.
Tenants, residents and other community groups can apply for up to £5,000 per project which they will manage and deliver.
The Community Development Fund provides residents with the opportunity to develop their communities through initiatives such as making improvements to the community environment, improving social, cultural and recreational opportunities, creating new or enhancing current community facilities and/or supporting or creating innovative approaches to crime prevention, crime reduction and safety.
Applications are welcomed from tenants, residents, community groups and schools. However, the only requirement is that individual tenants and residents come together and form a group to submit a single application that addresses their idea and vision.
Expressions of interest are required before Friday 4th July with a full application needed to be completed before Friday 1st August. Successful candidates will be notified of the decision in September.

Uniformed youth social actionYouth United Foundation and the Cabinet Office are inviting bids for a new £10 million fund (from LIBOR fines) to enable young people living in disadvantaged areas to get involved in social action. Bids for funding are now being invited from members of the Youth United Network and from other uniformed youth organizations that are not members of the Network, but which offer social action opportunities and structured activities. A second funding round will be launched in the autumn.
Research and innovationThe Nuffield Foundation has four grant programs that support research and innovation. Grants normally range from £10,000 to £250,000.
Children and Families - helps to ensure that the legal and institutional framework is best adapted to meet the needs of children and families.
Education - supports innovative research and development in specific priority areas.
Law in Society - promotes access to, and understanding of, the civil justice system.
Open Door - for projects that improve social well-being, and meet Trustees' wider interests, but lie outside the three program areas above
The next deadline for applications is 4 July.
The European Cultural Foundation are inviting applications from those working in the arts, cultural, academic and educational, environmental, trade and industry, health and social care, and human rights sectors for innovative and daring ideas for cross-sectoral collaboration that engages Europeans in re-defining and shaping public space. Fifty ideas will be chosen, and their applicants will attend the 'Idea Camp' in Marseilles, France, from 23-25 October. Twenty five research and development grants of up to €10, 000 will then be awarded for applicants to develop their ideas further.
The Mark Evison Foundation provides Major Awards of up to £5000 for people aged 18 to 30 to undertake challenges with specific goals. The award may be given for a group activity. Applications are invited four times a year, to be submitted by 31 January, 30 April, 31 July and 31 October each year.

Hilton in the Community FoundationThis is the charity and grant-making organization of the Hilton Worldwide chain of hotels in Europe. Hilton funds the central administration costs of the foundation so that every £1 and Euro raised goes directly to help young people. Generally the foundation does not make awards of more than £30,000 a year.
The foundation funds projects that help disadvantaged children and young people under 25 with the overall aim of enhancing access to formal and informal education and ensuring they receive appropriate health interventions. This includes young people with physical and learning disabilities, those who have suffered abuse and neglect or are homeless and at risk. The Edge Fund is currently accepting applications from communities, campaign groups and activists in the UK that are working for social, economic and environmental justice and have not been able to find funding from other sources.
Groups should be:
Facing discrimination and injustice because of their class, ability, gender, race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or other factors - those who are actively working to challenge these injustices and to create just and healthy communities;
Working for systemic change - those who seek to dismantle and replace the structures and processes that create oppression, inequality and environmental destruction.
Priority will be given to grassroots or unfunded groups.
Grants are not likely to be for more than £5,000.
Grants of up to £1,000 are also available to individuals who face challenges because of their personal circumstances or background and have a real passion for justice and can demonstrate a clear commitment to taking action.
The deadline for applications is 8 September 2014 (5pm)

The Association would like to promote our Community Development Grant which is open all year. It is a grant scheme for groups working within some parts of our operational area (see map on information leaflet) of up to £500 aimed at local communities. It is available to voluntary and community groups or to a group of residents who would like to get together to make a difference in the area they live. It is not essential to be a constituted group.
If any groups approach you who are in operation in the areas that the grant is available we would very much appreciate that you could mention our grant as an opportunity to secure funding for a project.
