Joe Dittmar, Sr., 40-year veteran of the insurance industry and 9/11 survivor
9-11 survivor Joe Dittmar’s eyewitness account of the sights, sounds and scenes inside the World Trade Center complex on 9-11 provides an inspirational perspective on what really happened before, during and after the terror attacks. Joe's personal and uplifting point of view includes lessons learned for a new awakening of patriotic spirit, human determination, and living in an ever-compacting world community. “Always remember and never forget,” Joe Dittmar explains, so history doesn’t have to repeat itself.

Janet Minke began her title career in 1970, serving with distinction until her retirement in 2018. Janet started as an escrow assistant and worked her way up to hold several key roles with regional and national underwriters. She is widely viewed as an expert on all things title insurance and was a frequent and popular speaker and instructor at TLTA educational programs. Janet was a TLTA volunteer extraordinaire, serving on or chairing many committees over the years and making contributions too numerous to list. She was named TLTA’s Title Person of the Year in 2006 and received the President’s Award in 2012.

CYNTHIA DURHAM BLAIR, NTP ALTA President Cynthia Durham Blair is a founding member of the law firm of Blair Cato Pickren Casterline, LLC. She has been practicing residential and commercial real estate, REO and relocation law in South Carolina for more than twenty years. Cynthia is a frequent speaker on real estate and real estate-related topics at CLE and other real estate industry seminars around the country.
AARON DAYAaron Day serves as Director of Government Affairs and General Counsel for TLTA. In addition to representing TLTA during legislative sessions, he manages the association's role and participation in TDI regulatory activities, including rate hearings, rule hearings and other regulatory hearings and meetings.
JOE DITTMAR, SR.On Sept. 11, 2001, Joe Dittmar, 40-year veteran of the insurance industry, attended a business meeting on the 105th floor of Two World Trade Center. He is one of seven who survived that meeting of 54 insurance executives. Joe is a Chapel Hill, North Carolina resident and a founding member of the Naperville 9/11 Memorial Commission.
STEVE GEMPERLESteve Gemperle is a Senior Special Agent with the United States Secret Service assigned to the San Antonio field office who specializes in cyber-crime. Steve has been recognized as the U.S. Secret Service’s top network intrusion investigator for the last five years. He was named one of the top five forensic investigators in the U.S. Secret Service in both computers and mobile devices. He teaches computer crime and network intrusion investigations both domestically and internationally.
ALEX GOULDAlex Gould is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he obtained his Bachelor of Finance with a concentration in insurance. He started at CRC Insurance Services in 2009, where he continues to practice his specialty in cyber and professional liability. He currently resides in Birmingham where he spends his time with his wife Kelly and two sons, Welles and Hagen.
KERRY HALLKerry Hall serves as executive managing director for Texas Capital Bank, overseeing regional banking in Austin, Fort Worth and San Antonio. She is responsible for executing effective strategies and serving as the link between regional offices and the bank’s major lines of business. Active in civic organizations, she has served as the chair of the Austin Chapter of the American Heart Association, co-chair of the Safeplace Celebration, and a classroom volunteer for Junior Achievement. In 2005, Gov. Rick Perry appointed her to Texas One, the Texas Economic Development Corporation Board, where she served as a board member until 2011.
JEROME MAGANAJerome Magana’s Select Specialty Insurance, which he started in 2009, provides insurance solutions for independent title agents in 42 states. Prior to founding Select Specialty Insurance, Jerome built and served as president of Stewart Speciality Insurance Services, where he focused on the independent agency force and helped create the escrow security bond being used in the market today.
JOHN C. MARTIN, CESP, CTIPTLTA President John Martin is owner and President of Lone Star Title of El Paso. His title agent operations in Texas and New Mexico include Camino Real Abstract and Title Company, Hale County Abstract & Title Company, L.P. and Reagan County Abstract & Title Company. John’s service to the Texas Land Title Association stretches back more than 32 years. He is a current member of the Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association and recently served as President of the Independent Title Agents of Texas.
ERIKA MEINHARDTErika Meinhardt is Executive Vice President for Fidelity National Title Group, Inc., the largest title insurance company in the United States. In 2005 she was named President of Fidelity’s Agency Operations - a position she held until her semi-retirement at the end of 2017. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Cannae Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded company and is a Trustee on the Georgia State University Foundation Board.

Kathy serves on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Central Texas, and she was named one of “Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2014” by Houston Woman Magazine.
EVAN SMITHEvan Smith is the CEO and co-founder of The Texas Tribune, a pioneering nonprofit, nonpartisan digital news organization whose deep coverage of Texas politics and public policy can be found at its website, texastribune.org, and in newspapers and on TV and radio stations across the state. Evan is also the host of “Overheard with Evan Smith,” a weekly half-hour interview program that airs on PBS stations around the country.
TRACY L. STEEDA 20-year veteran of the United States Secret Service with 31years of law enforcement experience, Tracy Steed is a supervisory agent in the Secret Service’s San Antonio Field Office responsible for the supervisory oversight of all criminal and cyber investigations within the office’s jurisdiction. Steed’s other assignments within the Secret Service have included the Presidential Protective Division, Criminal Investigative Division - Asset Forfeiture Branch in Washington, DC.
BILL SVOBODABill Svoboda is the co-founder of CloseSimple - home closing support software for title agents. An entrepreneur who’s built and sold an apparel enterprise that worked with Google, Facebook, Linked-In and others, Bill is a passionate speaker on the topics of customer-engagement, customer experience, marketing and growth strategies.
