Turn-up Targets
• TFN Optical layer scheduled for completion September 2004, Routing layer scheduled for completion by October, 2004.
• All universities and colleges will be on the TFN backbone during the fall term
• All 15 research universities and medical schools will
have Gigabit connections by fall term to the TFN

• All other Colleges and Universities connectivity will depend on the last mile option selected to the TFN
• Lambda provisioned for SchoolNet, awaiting funding recent budget cuts have delayed implementation of SchoolNet’s configuration and equipment order (Sites will be turned up during the 2004-2005 school year)

– 124 college and university sites bid– 30 Schoolnet sites bid– Currently working with vendor’s to develop contracts
on an as needed basis
• Result: lower last mile costs for most schools and bandwidth enhanced 5 to 8 times
