George Tomlinson News
Dear Parents and Carers, We've had a lovely week here at GT! This week our Nursery pupils have enjoyed a trip to the library in Leytonstone where they listened to stories and got time to explore the shelves. It's very quick and easy to sign up to the library when you get chance! This week was Bonfire Night and we spoke about why this is celebrated in assembly. We also enjoyed a delicious Bonfire lunch! Thank you to the kitchen staff for this. The school photographer was in on Wednesday to take individual pictures of pupils and their siblings. We will send the order forms home as soon as we receive them. On Thursday, some of our Year 3 and 4 pupils got the opportunity to visit Kensington Palace! They had an amazing day out. Thank you to the parent volunteers who joined us and to Ms Taylor Adams for organising these free trips! Our librarians very sadly informed me that there are many books missing from our library. These books have been bought with school funds and PTFA money over the last two years and are incredibly important. Missing books reduces the range children can choose from. If you have received letters from school asking you to return your child's library book please take the time to look for it; it will have a GT stamp inside. We have used hard-fought funds for these books and cannot simply replace them. Any child who does not return a book will be charged a flat rate of £5, however some of our texts cost us as much as £20. Please return any books you can find to us next week. Well done to all of our Stars of the Week this week! Tonight the PTFA are hosting a quiz night in the hall from 7:30pm! I hope that you will be able to come along for quiz questions, fish and chips and drinks! Last year's was fantastic and a great way to end the week! The parent evening slots have been released so please go online and book in! If you have issues with doing this on a computer please call the office who will be happy to help you. Have a wonderful weekend with your families!

One of our parents has sent the following message regarding road safety, which we wholly support.
Thank you for your support.
“I am petitioning Waltham Forest Council to convert the
pedestrian crossing on Leytonstone High Road, by Vernon
Road, to a pelican or puffin crossing (with traffic lights).
Cars frequently do not stop here and twice a vehicle has
driven over the crossing in front of me, when I have been
in the middle of the road with my child, who attends George
Tomlinson.
This is a route used by children from Davies Lane and
George Tomlinson Primary Schools and so it is vital safety
is improved here.
Please follow the link below to sign the petition:

A paper copy is also in the reception area outside the
school office.”

Yesterday, a group of children from years 3 and 4 went to Kensington Palace.
They attended the workshop "Changing Power of Kings and Queens".
Children also learnt about Queens Victoria life and they had the opportunity
to explore the rooms where she spent her childhood.
