FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AirAsia X and Thai AirAsia X

New Service Starts on International Routes from Kuala

Lumpur/Bangkok to Narita/Osaka

The expansion of Japanese route by the AirAsia group is one of their growth

strategies to strengthen the position by focusing on North Asia and Japanese

markets

July 7, 2014 (Narita)—AirAsia X, a leading long-haul low cost carrier in Malaysia under the

umbrella of the AirAsia group, announced today that they will start the service flying into

Narita International Airport 4 flights a week. Thai AirAsia X, the first long-haul low-cost

carrier in Thailand, also announced that they will establish Bangkok-Narita and

Bangkok-Osaka routes.

AirAsia X started the flight operation bound for Tokyo (Haneda) in December 2010 and for

Osaka in November 2011. Since June 2012, they have increased the flight between Kuala

Lumpur and Tokyo (Haneda) from 3 to 7 flights a week. In addition, this time they will start

the operation of a Kuala Lumpur-Narita route 4 flights a week, which will be increased to 7

flights a week from May 2015. Because AirAsia X has been emphasizing Japanese market,

this expansion into Narita is in line with their growth strategy targeting Japan.

For a Kuala Lumpur-Narita flight, the airline offers at 299 ringgit (¥9,990) for Economy Class

and 799 ringgit (¥38,000) for Business Class as campaign airfares. The applicable period of

these prices is between November 21, 2014 and July 31, 2015, for which you can make an

online airfare booking from July 8, 2014 to July 13, 2014.

For a Bangkok-Narita or Bangkok-Osaka flight, the airline offers at 2,990 Thai Baht (¥9,900)

for Economy Class and 9,990 Thai Baht (¥38,000) for Business Class. The applicable

period of these prices is between September 1, 2014 and July 2015.

Regarding this announcement, AirAsia X CEO, Azran Osman Rani, states as follows:

“AirAsia X will respond to ever growing demand for travel to and from Japan. Our company

recorded an 89% of boarding rate on average in the first half of 2014, which has shown a

great demand for Japanese route since we started business in November 2011. Overall, the

number of our passengers to and from Japan exceeded one million, accounting for 12%

plus of our company’s sales in the first half of 2013.”

He further comments, “The increased number of flights served by AirAsia X and Thai AirAsia

X will provide the benefit of flexible journey and convenient transit for passengers, who go

from Malaysia and its surrounding areas to Japan as well as those who go from Japan to

Southeast Asia and beyond there. Our company’s “Fly-Thru (connecting flights)” service is

convenient for travelers who use a long-haul route of ours or the AirAsia group, providing

them with smooth changes to more than 90 destinations. Our increased service will open a

new horizon for various businesses and promote tourism in Japan and ASEAN regions.”

Thai AirAsia X CEO, Nadda Buranasiri, says, “Thailand is one of the most popular

destinations for Japanese tourists. It is very gratifying that we can offer convenient options to

people who want to visit Bangkok at affordable prices. In 2013, 1.5 million Japanese visited

Thailand, an 11.9% increase from the previous year. We believe that the number of travelers

will increase more.”

You can use the “Fly Thru” service for a flight via Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok to respective

destinations: Indonesia (Bandung, Medan, Jakarta, Bali, and Surabaya), Malaysia (Penang,

Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Alor Star, Johor Bahru, Kota Bharu, Terengganu, Mili,

Sibu, and Tawau), Thailand (Phuket, Krabi, Hat Yai, Chiang Mai, and Chiangrai), Vietnam

(Ho Chi Minh), Singapore, India (Cochin and Tiruchirappalli), Cambodia (Siem Reap),

Myanmar (Yangon), and Australia (Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide). You can also

use “Fly-thru” service for a flight between Osaka and Mandalay, Hanoi, or Singapore.

AirAsia X is the first LCC that installed premium flatbed seats in Business Class as a

standard. The seat is 20 inches wide and 77 inches long (when fully reclined), with a space

of 60 inches between the seats.

The seat is equipped with a tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy protective

screen in addition to universal power outlet and adjustable headrest. Business Class

passengers can enjoy high-quality free services, such as a reserved seat, priority check-in,

priority boarding, priority luggage claim, unaccompanied luggage up to 25 kg, in-flight meal,

pillow and duvet, etc.

KIX’s Megasolar observation deck came into operation along with visualization monitors

The Kansai International Airport (KIX) set forth the functional enhancement of environmental measures in a strategic growth program under KIX’s medium-term plan. On the basis of the above, KIX formulated a concept of the Smart Island-Proposal for its commitment to activities for global and local environmental protection in pursuit of being a safe and environmentally advanced airport at the world’s highest level with the effective use of clean energy, including solar, hydrogen, and wind power and efficient use of energy.

Recently, KIX has constructed a 4-meter-high KIX Megasolar observation deck in the special management area to look over facilities named KIX Megasolar as airport solar power facilities of Asia’s largest class. KIX has installed a total of four monitors in Terminal Building 1, Terminal Building 2, and the general area of the Observation Hall as well in order to display the power generation status of the Mega Solar.

Since July 19, 2014, the KIX Megasolar observation deck has been incorporated into the Waku Waku airport explorer tour (Smart Island course) in the KIX Official Guide, and visitors can visit and see KIX’s efforts toward environmental protection.

In addition, visitors can see small-scale facilities of wind power generation through the windows of the bus used for the Waku Waku airport explorer tour (Smart Island course). The facilities are located in the general area. Came into operation : Saturday, July 19, 2014 Location : [Megasolar observation deck]

• SF Kansai Mega Solar near KIX’s power plant [Visualization monitors] • 2nd and 4th floors of Terminal Building 1 • 1st floor of Terminal Building 2 • 5th floor (Entrance Hall) of Observation Hall

Outline of facilities : [Mega solar observation deck] • 4 meters high with a maximum capacity of 50 people [Visualization monitors] Display contents • The amount of power generation and CO2 reductions (up to date) • The amount of power generation of the day (in total), achievements (6-stage display), and the amount of power generation of the present • The amount of solar radiation intensity of the day (5-stage display, i.e., intensive, rather intensive, normal, rather weak, and weak) • The comparison graph of the amount of power generation of the day, that of the previous day, and the amount of solar radiation of the day
