This was another year filled with manychallenges and opportunities for ARI. Wefaced state funding cuts, turnover in leader-ship, staff and consumers, and decreasedday program space. However, with our mis-sion focused on enriching lives and enablingpeople to achieve their fullest potential

always at the center of what we do, we found many new ways toimprove our programs and focus on meeting the needs of the peo-ple we serve. We supported several individuals in our residential program

through physical and mental health and financial challenges. Ourstaff truly demonstrated the highest level of dedication and team-work. Our Day program staff also showed incredible creativity andcollaboration as they made room for our new tenant and found waysto expand our programs while working in a smaller space. We wel-comed a few high school transition students and provided servicesfor new individuals referred by BRS and DDS.We could not do anything without the incredible dedication of

hundreds of volunteers and generous donors. We are especiallygrateful for our long-term supporters including First County Bank,The United Way, The Stamford Police Association, The Knights ofColumbus, Rebuilding Together, and the countless others who arelisted in this report. Your commitment ensures that we are able toimprove the lives of the people we serve every day.The future, like the past, will be filled with many challenges and

opportunities. One of the things ARI is best known for is the inti-mate size of our organization. We are a close knit family. And, likemost families, when times are tough we stick together, share ourresources, and move forward with strength and a focus on bettertimes to come. Everyone involved with ARI, our staff, board, volun-teers, donors, consumers and family members must come togetherand move forward with great passion, focus and a common vision sothat we can continue to make improvements and prevail even in theface of great challenges. Every person we serve, and those yet tocome, are counting on us. I look forward to working with you all toensure we don’t let them down.
