CHARITY • COLLEGE BOUND ST. LOUISFor the Spring Conference, MASFAP will be supporting College Bound St. Louis.
Young people need resources to thrive. They need opportunity, counseling, classes, and encouragement not only during the school day but also when the school day ends, over weekends and summers. That is what College Bound provides. Fewer than nine percent of low-income currently graduate from college – compared to about 75 percent of students from high-income families.
College Bound was founded in 2006 by Lisa Orden Zarin to provide services to low-income students from their freshman year in high school through college completion. Services include critical programs such as tutoring and test preparation assistance, counseling and advice about college application processes, assistance with the FAFSA, and personal support and also help and encouragement by providing dorm room supplies, regular care packages, and more to students after they are enrolled in college. These comprehensive services help students not only prepare for and access college but also successfully complete a postsecondary credential. In six years College Bound has achieved postsecondary completion rates for its students at rates comparable to higher-income students. College Bound currently serves more than 1,500 students from 39 St. Louis area high schools.
There will be a “LIVE” Auction on Wednesday evening. You can participate by bringing cash or check to make purchases at the auction OR please bring an item for the auction. Remember, the item does not necessarily have to be a product, but services like baking cookies or hosting an ice cream social are also great ideas! If you are interested in donating, please bring your item/service to the registration desk on Wednesday. If you are not planning on attending the conference and still want to participate in a great cause, contact Becky Davis or Sara Edwards for more information.
“Just one adult with a college degree can end the cycle of generational poverty in a family line forever.”

The purpose of this workshop is to create an awareness of the behaviors inherent in dysfunctional team dynamics. Participants will be provided an opportunity to observe the five dysfunctions of the workshop team; absence of trust; fear of conflict; lack of commitment; avoidance of accountability; inattention to results. Conversations
There are three choices when any interpersonal situation has the potential to spiral into misunderstanding and anger. Then there is the option of choosing to be the assertive adult. This breakout session will provide the attendee with seven skills to guarantee the financial aid professional will be honest and forthright.
