Vision Dinner Update:The 2013 Vision Dinner gave the Alpha

Center the pleasure and privilege to share what God is calling us to do. We trust that our mission to reach women and men in

crisis pregnancies resonates with everyone who hears it to partner with us, together in

faith, to accomplish the outreach that God has entrusted to us.

Please keep us in your prayers in the coming

weeks and months as we look at finding a larger facility, adding personnel and

bringing our mobile pregnancy center to more communities.

If you missed the event, you can still make a Faith Promise gift to the Alpha Center using

the enclosed remittance envelope.

LAURAEvery Tuesday night, Laura faithfully volunteers during Parenting Class. Laura helps with whatever needs to be done that night. Alpha Center Parenting Classes meet weekly for 12 weeks. It is an opportunity for new parents to come and learn more about their pregnancy, having a baby, and becoming a parent. Laura’s regular tasks include staffing the front desk, greeting the parenting class speakers and participants, taking attendance, entering data into our database, and helping with clean-up at the end of the evening. Outside of Tuesday nights, Laura has also loyally volunteered at the Alpha Center booths during special events.

LARRY & MARVELLALarry and Marvella have always had a heart of service. Their daughter, Christy, remembers volunteering together as a family at the Union Gospel Mission, the Alpha Center and the Omega Home as kids. She believes her parents wanted to pass on a legacy of caring for “the least of these,” and to have an eye for the needs of others. Christy tells us, “Since becoming empty nesters, this heart of service has not gone away. Instead of vacationing, they choose to spend their days working on projects for the Alpha Center. They often say they are just behind the scenes doing jobs that aren’t that important, but I don’t think they will ever know the impact these ‘insignificant’ jobs have had on the ministry, and most importantly, the people it serves. Thanks Mom and Dad, for your cheerful heart of service and for giving your family the most precious gift… a glimpse at the heart of Jesus!”

Thanks to the commitment of countless volunteers and donors over the

last 29 years, the Alpha Center has grown to be one of the most influential

pregnancy care centers in the United States. As we near the end of Alpha’s

third decade of life-saving service, Allen and I wish to share a vision of

where this ministry needs to go to meet the increasing needs in the Midwest,

as well as the national and international vision that has put the Alpha Center

at the forefront of the battle to protect pregnant mothers and their children.

Proverbs 29:18 tells us, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

Helen Keller’s thought-provoking comment, “I feel sorry for people who

have perfect eyesight, but have no vision” should also propel us to look to

the future and prepare for what God has in store for this ministry.

You, the body of Christ, have enabled the Alpha Center to secure a safety

net for women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. Most people don’t

realize that the Alpha Center is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. These

are the moments when people are vulnerable, and their minds are full of

panic and fear. They often are pivotal moments and it’s absolutely critical

that someone can offer Christian love and support in those times of need.

The Alpha Center will rise to the challenges it faces! We believe one man with truth is an army,

and one man with God is a majority. To better equip us for these challenges we need resources

and people. We must employ additional full-time staff who are professionally licensed in

counseling. We need to hire additional certified personnel to run our ultrasound machines and

operate our mobile pregnancy center wherever it is needed.

The Alpha Center is bursting at the seams and is in need of a larger facility to serve our growing

client base. Add that to the costs of additional personnel, training, equipment and expanded

utilization of our mobile clinic and you can see the vision also comes with a larger operating

budget. Will you partner with us to make these goals happen?

Some of you can sense the presence of God calling you to be involved in the Alpha Center.

Maybe it’s being trained as a client advocate or working in our facility as a volunteer or staff

member. Maybe you feel called to reach out to the rural and reservation communities by being part

of our mobile pregnancy center program. Please listen to that call—we need you!

Your financial gifts will also help us continue to stand in the gap. Please use the enclosed

remittance envelope to show us that you want to be part of Alpha Center’s vision for the future.

Defenders of HIS unborn,
