Step 3: Technical check

• Before you start preparing and rehearsing your dramatisation, check that you will be ready to record your podcast!

• Do a sound check: Each group member must record 3 top tips for creating a podcast on his/her Macbook

• Listen to each recording and check that it is clear

• Share and compare your answers to the quiz questions about how to create a podcast emailed after the last lesson

Step 4: Plan and rehearse!

• Using your groupwork skills, discuss and rehearse your dramatised reading of the poem

• Try to capture the ‘feel’ of the poem. Is it meant to be funny? Dramatic? Sad?

• Remember to make the moral of the tale (as suggested by Roald Dahl!) as clear as you can

• Think about using tone, volume, pace, pauses etc to create dramatic effect and humour

But wait a minute… Is this the true story??

Page 9: The 3 Little Pigs Podcast

Come closer while I read you the TRUE story of what

happened…

Page 10: The 3 Little Pigs Podcast

And for homework…

• Think of 3 other villains from fairytales or other well known stories, who could have a very different story to tell, if only they had the chance…

• In your beige exercise books, make a list of their names and the stories in which they appear

• For each one, write a brief paragraph (5-6 lines in sentences) explaining their side of the story. How would they tell the story, given the chance?

(STAR)• What do they need to work on for the

next time they create a dramatic reading of poem? (WISH)

• Give each group you evaluate 2 stars and a wish
