Program and Information Guide
Entries:
$20.00 per competitor.
$20.00 per person for R&R.
$50.00 per Boat crew and are to be entered as a separate event. No late entry’s allowed.
$50.00 per March Past Team, (but if they enter other events it is $20 per competitor)
Clubs are to submit entries online using the “Carnival Manager System” at http://carnival.sls.com.au
Sydney Branch will invoice all clubs after the carnival for payment, no payments accepted on theday
Entries close on Wednesday 17th December 2014 at 11:00pm
Late Entries:
Late entries on the day are $30.00 per person. Club’s will be invoiced by Sydney Branch –No payments accepted on the day.NO Late Entry’s accepted for boats.

General Supplementary Carnival Rules Competition shall be conducted as per the current edition SLSA Surf Sports Manual except where
detailed in this section.
All competitors must have their age group clearly marked on their upper left arm.
All competitors are to register on the day of the carnival prior to competing.
No overall point score will be conducted over the carnival. The only Club Point score to be awarded
will be over the 5 events of the Steve Warren Cup.
All competitors and handlers must wear pink fluorescent coloured singlets as their outer layer of
clothing when entering the water.
All surf craft, more than 12 months old, must be affixed with a ‘black & white’ NSW Scrutineering
sticker.
As per SLSA rules U/15 and under competitors are not permitted to compete in U17, U19 or Open
age group events.
All events will be conducted in block (i.e. heats where required) and finals immediately following.
Courses for all events, including those designated events for the Steve Warren Cup, may vary at the
discretion of the Carnival Referee in consultation with the Competition Committee.
Competitor eliminations (cuts) of greater than 50% may be taken, at the discretion of the Carnival
Referee, to allow for the efficient completion of the carnival program.
Primarily taking into account all safety issues ‐ field sizes for events may exceed the recommended
numbers outlined in the current SLSA Surf Sports Manual at the discretion of the Carnival Referee to
allow for the efficient completion of the carnival program.
Supplementary Rules: Steve Warren Cup
The Steve Warren Cup will be a cumulative point score over the following 5 events:
Events 1 & 2 ‐ All Age Swim Relay – male & female events.
Events 3 & 4 ‐ All Age Board Relay – male & female events
Event 5 ‐ All Age Taplin Relay – Combined gender event
It is not compulsory for a club to compete in all 5 events.
No club composite teams are allowed.
Each club is limited to 2 teams per event.
Clubs can vary the competitors for each event.
Points are awarded from 1st to 6th placing only for each event.
Points awarded as follows: 1st = 6 points, 2nd: 5 points, 3rd 4 points, 4th 3 points, 5th 2 points & 6th
receiving 1 point.
The ‘Blocking System’ for points will apply in that each Club can only score one set of points perevent however, if their remaining team also finishes in the top 6 then that team will ‘block’ ( orprevent) those respective points from being awarded to another club. Eg. Blue Water SLSC finishesboth 1st & 4th in one event. They will be awarded only a total 6 points for 1st and they will block ( orprevent) another club from being awarded the 3 points for 4th.
ALL AGE SWIM RELAY (single gender event)
4 person swim relay event with each team member swimming one leg each
The event is to be conducted around the swim & run leg course of an ‘ironperson’ course.
Each team must consist of:o 1 x U15, 1 x U17, (1 x U17, U19 or Open) and (1 x U17, U19 or Open)
The U15 competitor must commence the event after which the order of competitors 2,3 & 4 is at thediscretion of each team.
ALL AGE BOARD RELAY ( single gender event)
4 person Board relay event with each team member paddling one leg each
The event is to be conducted around the board & run leg course of an ‘ironperson ’ course.
Each team must consist of:o 1 x U15, 1 x U17, (1 x U17, U19 or Open) and (1 x U17, U19 or Open)
The U15 competitor must commence the event after which the order of competitors 2,3 & 4 is at thediscretion of each team.
ALL AGE TAPLIN RELAY ( combined gender event)
6 person Taplin Relay consisting of 3 females and 3 males
Each team must consist of :o 1 U15 male, 1 x U15 female, 1 x U17 male, 1 x u17 female, (1 x U19 or Open male) and
(1 x u19 or Open female)
An U17 athlete is not permitted to compete up an age as either U19 or Open.
The order of the legs of the event will be swim, swim, board, board, ski and ski.
The U15’s must be allocated the swim legs of the event with the males to commence the event (
U15 females must complete leg 2). The remaining competitors for legs 3,4,5 & 6 can be allocated
each leg at the discretion of each team.
