Our Mission StatementOur Mission Statement The Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE) is a professional

association committed to advancing experience-based theological education for

seminarians, clergy and lay persons of diverse cultures, ethnic groups and faith

traditions. We establish standards, certify supervisors and accredit programs and

centers in varied settings. ACPE programs promote the integration of personal history, faith tradition and the behavioral sciences in

the practice of spiritual care.

Inc. we will be distinguished as the premier provider of clinical pastoral education and recognized by the United States Department of Education:– Encouraging creative response to the changing context of

accreditation processes to support innovation

• Begin new centers in diverse settings

• Incorporate new developments in educational theory

• Relate to field educators and seminary faculty including The Society for Pastoral Theology and Association of Theological Field Educators

• Perform research on best practices and distant learning

• Support publications in the field of clinical pastoral education

• Integrate multicultural competencies

– Purpose• Increase number of supervisory

education students• Support centers and students

doing supervisory education with resources and money

• Initiate and organize educational events at conferences and regional meetings

• Be a resource for consultation in program start ups

This is a bold move on the part of the ACPE shifting its identify from being an administrative entity to also be a program entity.
