Elephants , monkeys and deers uenched their thirst from the same stream !here crocodiles lived.

Every morning , the animals met and e"changed ne!s a#out the village and its people.

$hile all the animals lived in perfect harmony , the cats !ere #ratty , rude and very #ossy.

They gave a hard time to the mice that !ere terrified #y the terror that the cats unleashed on them.

The cats pro!led at night , chased and ro##ed the rats of their peace.

%ali#en lived !ith her trusted pet, &hera.

Tired !ith the !ild !ays of the cats, the mice approached their good friend, %hargosa for help.

*Is there a !ay , the mice could trick the cats and get rid of them forever+ asked %hargosa to &hera .

&hera had often !atched %ali#en cook up magic potions on her huge cauldron.

-n full moon nights , he had seen her utter magic spells that could transform ordinary things intosomething e"traordinary.

$hy ( he even remem#ered ho! she transformed him into a singing monkey once .

-f course, her magic never !ent !rong and he !as &hera again ( , after she uttered another spell.

It !as another full moon night.

&hera uttered a magic spell he had learnt from the !itch and lo and #ehold (, the mice had turned intoAloo Monsters.

Monsters !ith eyes that #ulged out like #aked eggs(

The Aloo monsters indeed looked terrifying.

And !hen they opened their mouth, they croaked like a hundred frogs playing an orchestra .

The cats !aited , ready to pounce on the leftover %heer.

But to their utter horror, out came Aloo monsters from the cauldron , croaking like a hundred frogs.

The cats !ere terrified #eyond !ords .

The village !as haunted , they #elieved (

They !ere heard muttering that they !ould leave the village for ever (

The animals partied the elephants trumpeted , the ra##its hopped , the monkeys !agged their tailsand as for the mice / !ell ( they !eren)t aloo monsters any more. They !ere just mice and notterrified anymore (

Every one had a hearty laugh !hen &hera and %hargosa narrated the story .
