Blitz – that was the key word for this year's Spring Rush. The Communication team pulled out all the stops for a new marketing campaign that got the whole school asking who we are. Delta Omega Zeta saw an unprecedented amount of interest: Over 200 students registered for Spring Rush!

Actives and potential members mingled at fun events spanning the two weeks of Rush: A formal info meeting, a Meet the Actives game night, a Flag Football BBQ, a speaker event with the CEO of MySpace, and tons of bonding in between. We also began a new tradition: a formal Prospective Member Sunday Brunch at the Radisson Hotel, with a more intimate crowd of actives and students.

After three days of interviews, reading through a new chapter record of 70 applications and a treacherous decision night, we offered bids to 22 dynamic and passionate applicants. This new class has made DOZ history with their spirit and incredibly close bond.

Say hello to Alpha chapter's Gamma Class!

DOZ Basketball Tailgate

This semester has been all about new events and fresh traditions. Courtney Quinn, our Vice President of Programming, and her appointed team stayed on the ball and put together a Delta Omega Zeta Basketball Tailgate! Actives and Journeymen spend a sunny Saturday gobbling up freshly-grilled hot dogs and hamburgers (and Veggieburgers!) on McCarthy Quad. After sufficient face-stuffing, everyone headed over to Galen to watch the Trojans take on Oregon State. Fight On!

Spring invite brought out almost twice as many people as Fall! The culminating social event of the semester brought together Actives, Journeymen and their beautiful dates for all-night food and dancing. After a little pre-Invite mingling at Phil's house, we headed out via taxi to the venue. The Programming team booked the lavish e3rd Steakhouse in downtown Los Angeles, where we enjoyed delicious gourmet appetizers, an open bar and a massive dance floor. Needless to say, we took full advantage of that dance floor.

English [email protected]

Best part of DOZ: Personal growth. Friends I can call family.

Post Grad plans: I’m planning to move to Washingto, DC over the next few months to

pursuit a career in policy development. Don’t know excatly what that entails yet, but I’ll let you

know..

Max Slavlin, Founder B.S. Political Science Minor in Jazz Studies [email protected]

Best part of DOZ: When DOZ started it was a small idea for a class project. Watching it go form that to a

dynamic group of USC’s best and brightest - and being able to spend so much time with everyone - has

by far been the best part.

Post Grad plans: I’ll be moving to New York in the fall for the Coro Feloowship in Public Affairs. Along with 11 other fellows in New york - I’ll work for a

business - union - non-profit - government agency - and a political campaign over the course of 9 months. Nothing could have prepared me for it like DOZ has.

The Alpha chapter has the bittersweet duty of sending off six seniors at the end of this Spring. We are also saying goodbye-for-now to the last of our undergraduate Founders, who have provided endless support and wisdom this past year. We'll definitely be keeping in touch with our amazing seniors, following their successes as they carry Delta Omega Zeta's legacy into the “real world”.

To the Delta Omega Zeta Class of 2009 – Kristen Priddy, Max Slavkin, Mike Thomsen, Wendy Barclay, Larry Del Santo and Celeste Perez – it has been a pleasure and a privilege learning and growing with you. Congratulations and best of luck!

Lawrence Del Santo, Alpha Class Communication

Minor in Marketing [email protected]

Best part of DOZ: Having the opportunity to meet people like me that like to work hard and play hard. If I wasn’t in DOZ, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet the awesome people I have that come from all

areas on campus. Post Grad plans: I am interviewing with some companies right now, and I hope to get into the

Entertainment Industry to do creative marketing for movie studios.

Wendy Barclay, Alpha Class Psychology

[email protected]

Best part of DOZ: The people. Enough said. *An ode from Wendy (on the right) to the writer.

Post Grad plans: USC Graduate School for Education!

Mike Thomsen, Founder Business Administration

Minor in Theatre [email protected]

Best part of DOZ:The coolest part of DOZ is having new journeymen come in and be just as enthusiastic and excited about the idea of the fraternity as I and the founders were just a year ago. It’s been awesome getting to know everyone and learning from people who I wouldn’t have met without this organization.

Post Grad plans: After graduation, I’ll be living and working in dowtown Los Agneles for Deloitte and Touche as a consultant. I’ll also be dropping by

campus now and then to bug everyone.

Celeste Perez, Alpha Class B.A. Broadcast Journalism

Minor in Music Industry and Business Entrepreneurship [email protected]

Best part of DOZ: DOZ has helped me broaden my USC experience, and nothing else could compare to the life DOZ has offered to me. The relationships I have made and the sheer ambition and drive of the people in this fraternity are a constant source of inspiration for me. Though we may all be leaders in some

capacity, I value the personal aspect of DOZ the most.

Post Grad plans: I’ll be starting my own clothing line, working with the GK (Gawad Kalinga) foundation to rebuild impoverished communities, and cultivating

my musical skills after I graduate.
