The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

an Inspirational prologue

(An inspiration without perspiration leads to

exasperation)

We have come to this world,

 Not to play, to dream to drift;

We have hard work to do & loads to lift,

Shun not the struggle, it’s God's gift

Man is not merely a banal creature. His life is quite different

from the life that is led by other Earthly things. He too like them

is mortal, no doubt, but the difference is that man's soul

experiences A deep struggle against earthly limitation and

always longs this struggle for eternal bliss. Man alone

experiences this spiritual struggle. He alone yearns for immortal

life. He alone feels the shortness of human life and this is how

he becomes an inspiration. An inspiration for those who aim

high, think loud and who are sagacious enough to be real sourceenough to be real source of motivation for there to be real source

of motivation for their contemporaries and for generations to

come

RW Emerson's famous lines depict the real traits of such

stimulating souls

Not gold but only man can make,

A people great and strong;

Men who for truth and honor's sake,

Stand fast and suffer not.

The struggle one makes to achieve an end is never futile. The

troubles endured and the agonies undergone are never fruitless.

It may be that a man's opponent remains as strong as ever and

shows no sign of retreat and that one feels one has not been able

to change the face of things at all. But the fond hopes have

deceived him; it is also possible that his fears may be equally

unfounded. Everything is shrouded in mystery and one does not

know the end of things. It is one's enemies to continue the

struggle and be the masters of the situation. The best thing,

therefore, for one to remember is that continuous struggle is ever

rewarded with success.

Preservance is the very hinge of all virtues. Not failure but low

aim is crime. Those who fail in achieving their objects do so not5

Page 6: The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

because they lack in ability, but because they lack in

preservance. They do not lack the desire to employ their talents,

but because they lack steadiness. They are of a hesitating nature,

always wavering between two courses of action. They are easilydiscouraged by small disappointments. The result is that they

create a series of difficulties for themselves which is so large

that no human force can conquer it. If a small stream can carve

out for itself a deep and wide channel by constant flowing, why

a man cannot set his course of action by continuous toil and

labor?

It is a wrong belief that stars preside over our destinies. Man is

the architect of his our fate. The fault does not lie with our stars

but exists in ourselves that we are underlings, passive and

lethargic. Men who are always grumbling about their poverty,

complaining about their difficulties, whining over their troubles, pining from their worries, frowning over their misfortunes and

thinking of their mean lot, will never get any happiness out of

life or achieve any success. However mean our life may be, if

we face it bravely and honestly and try to make the best of it, we

shall find it quite charming and attractive and enjoy the

pleasures and joys it can give. As a strong and swift current is a blessing for the swimmer, so the hard knocks of Life are for us

blessings in disguise. They make us self reliant and they render

us tough and strong.

We should, therefore, not be disheartened if there has been no

progress in our work. We should always remember that years of

hard toil are necessary to achieve anything great. If we want to

reach a target without putting our 100% effort, we shall merely

end up in disappointment and dejection because:

Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent

 perspiration.

Foreword

(A Mockery of bad revision habits)

Disclaimer: This ‘Foreword’ is satiric in nature. All the

characters, settings and/or any details are imaginary. Any

similarity between the content within and real life is pure

coincidence.

Almost all the people skip the foreword so I am quite sure that I

am writing it for myself only.

Students do not need any guidance when it comes to revising for

the examination. Every student has his own revision method

which is effective enough to earn an “E” grade. However, there

are a few students who work hard and are –finally– able to

achieve a U grade. However, as per Edexcel board rules, their

achievement, a U grade, does not appear on their result sheets.

School’s top students have revealed their jealously guarded

revision secrets.

It is a very bad revision habit found in many students that they

revise a day before exams. Mariam, a revision expert, says

“Don’t prepare a day before exams, prepare on the same day of the exams”. Mariam also instructs the students to follow the

rules; she says “They do not allow you to take mobile phones

into the exam halls, so you can only make use of walkie talkies”.

Taking tuition is one of the most sought after paths in

examination success. Ali takes tuition. The only qualification of

his tutor is that he is a friend of Ali’s father.

Hard work is the key to success and one typical hard worker is

Fatima. She stays awake all night in order to study. However, as

everybody is asleep,  all the lights in the house are turned off

hence preventing Fatima from any kind of revision.

Cheating is a great habit too. Huda is very great at that, used the

Morse code to get answers for her Chemistry paper. She could

have learnt the Equations instead of the Morse code though.

It is a scientifically approved fact that revision makes one dumb.

It has also been reported that the scientists who approved this

fact were under the influence of alcohol. Still, this fact is

universally accepted and that is why Khalid does not study at all.

He believes that Prayers are the key to success. Khalid puts a

status on Facebook saying “Pray for my exams” and in no

time he is showered with millions of prayers.

However, the best method of preparation for exams is that of

Nasrah Tariq. She believes that everything must be done step

wise: One intelligent step at a time.

.: Step 1:: Iron the uniform.

.: Step 2:: Check out all the essential stationary :Chewing gum to

remove stress, A Panadol tablet to control sudden panic attacks

and a comfy pillow to sleep comfortably in the exam hall.

.: Step 3:: Find a good place to dump all the books in, after the

exams.

How to use question banks for

Exam revision?

(A set of Interviews of boys’ wing teachers)

Your most trusted friends are your question banks when it

comes to revision. There are many misconceptions regarding the

usage of question banks. We interviewed some senior boys’

wing teachers to get a lesson on how to use question banks.

Ibrahim: We have Mr. D.A. Nazer, a senior Maths teacher, with

us. He has been with IES boys wing for very long time... Sir,

regarding Maths, how must one use the question banks?

Mr. Dawood: Question bank is an important tool for

examination preparation. However, do not go directly in to the

question bank! First be thorough with the whole chapter and

then solve the papers…..but on your own! Do not rely on the

marking scheme, believe that none exists.

If you are not getting the answer, TRY! TRY! TRY! But even

then if you are unable to catch the concept, then ask the teacher.

Ibrahim: Thanks.

Ibrahim: Mr. Zia Ul Haq is with us right now. He is a Chemistry

teacher, so sir the question here is: how shall I –or anybody– use

the question bank for revision?

Mr. Zia Ul Haq: You should have an idea of the syllabus, be

thorough with it. Do not depend on the teachers alone as they

may not get into the details. So get a syllabus copy and make

yourself familiar with the topics. Then you go ahead for solving.

Ibrahim: You mean to say that no year wise solving?

Mr. Zia ul Haq: Yes! Do it topic wise.

Ibrahim: Sir I get you.

(End)

Ibrahim: Sir we are asking this question from many teachers…

Mr. Zaheer: what is the question?

Ibrahim: the question is that how can we, the students, make use

of the question banks?

Mr. Zaheer: That how you can make the use of the question

banks? Well you must first understand the concept completely.

Once you are familiar with the topic, then solve the question banks.

Ibrahim: Shall we finish the whole syllabus?

Mr. Azam’s view on revision

Introduction: Mr. Azam is one of the very few teachers who can

view things from different perspectives. We dedicated a

complete chapter to interview him alone because he is worth it.

If you read the text that follows, you will understand that what

gives Mr. Azam an edge over other teachers.

Ibrahim: Assalamualaikum sir.

Mr. Azam: Walaikum Assalam

Ibrahim: Sir first of all, the same question that we asked others:

How can the question banks be used for revision. Board exams

 preparation that is.

Mr. Azam: Well, you must have a grip at the whole concept.

And then you can browse through the bank immediately

recognizing the questions that are from the topic you just

finished. On the other hand, if you haven’t learned everything in

regard to a single topic, you will not be able to spot questions

from the intended topic. Also, there are questions similar to

exam questions at the end of the chapter.

Ibrahim: I am sorry to say, sir, but you all teachers keep saying

that we must solve the questions at the end of every chapter but

15

Page 16: The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

you never make us solve any. You just bombard us with

question banks at the end of the year.

Mr. Azam: Well, we the teachers have the burden that we have

to finish the whole syllabus. It’s no less than climbing Mount

Everest. You, the students, must also be responsible to some

degree yourself.

Ibrahim: Okay sir, what do you think: Shall a person study at the

home or concentrate in the class? Like if parents irritate us a lot

at home, we are forced to study there but we do not concentrate

in class. On the other hand we have friends who concentrate in

the class and do not study much at home. What is better?

Mr. Azam: I look at things from quiet a different perspective. A

student’s grades are affected by four factors:-

1. Teachers

2. Parents

3. The environment of study

4. The student himself

You see, a maximum of 8 hours can be spent at school by

students. The rest at the home he spends. He must revise at

home as well as concentrate in the school. Some students are

naturally bright, that’s an exception! They do not even need to

open the book. Just like yourself, I have (while checking the

papers) felt that you write from your mind and do not need to

revise from the book.

The environment of study must be proper and the parents must

remember that they have 60% influences on their wards’ results.

Ibrahim: Sir, you said that the parents are so heavily influential

on their wards’ grades, but should they not be educated properly

so that they are smart enough to handle their wards.

Mr. Azam: Yes! It happens in many cases that the parents are

either too lenient or too strict. They do not know what their wards are studying. They do not know how stressful revision

can be. By constant pressurizing, they irritate their wards.

Ibrahim: and the ward says “Mom, I am studying” while, in fact,

he is surfing the net or reading a novel.

Mr. Azam: Exactly, that is what happens

Ibrahim: You just said that parents are an important factor in a

students’ result, so is the school doing anything to educate the

 parents?

Mr. Azam: Yes! The school is now organizing a workshop type

of thing to educate the parents. The ones of O Levels students.

17

Ibrahim: whose idea was it to hold this workshop?

Mr. Azam: It was Mr. Asim Khalil.

Ibrahim: That man impresses me.

Mr. Azam: but if you look from another perspective, there are

major drawbacks of this workshop if we ever hold it. Like, some

parents are too smart for that. The teachers might simply be

bombarded with questions that they may be unable to answer.

Ibrahim: You always view things from a plural number of

perspectives. Your interview, I believe, will be very useful for

our project I may say.

Mr. Azam: Thank you!

Ibrahim: Welcome.

The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

Ms. Fatima’s ultimate guide to

revision

It has been observed that many students do badly, or fail to

achieve their desired grades for not adopting the right method

for their exam preparations.

Here is a tried recipe that you may adopt to perform better in

exams.

You cannot study without the right study aids. You will need

your diary, books, pens etc. but most of all, you will need your

will power and self discipline.

Willpower (the strength of will to carry out one's decisions).-

Pupils can take tuition or extra help from tutors but

unfortunately they cannot buy willpower. However, fortunately

enough, we can find an unlimited supply of it within ourselves.

However, we need to get it out of our "Inner selves" and into our

"Willpower tank". For that you need to be alone so that you canconcentrate on what you will be doing.

19

Page 20: The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

8/7/2019 The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/the-art-the-technique-of-revision-of-exams 20/37

The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

Try this; it works! As soon as you have time, go to your room

and lock yourself in, so no one will disturb your concentration.

You say to yourself "I m going to build up the determination

that will make me to succeed. There is no one in the world thatis going to stop me. If other can do it, I can do it better". Stay in

your room until you feel you are completely convinced, and

until your reservoir or "fuel tank" of will power is full. In the

future, whenever you feel low on willpower, go to your room,

lock the door and fill up your tank again.

Self discipline.- Self discipline is, in a way, similar to

willpower  , but it is also different .

Self-discipline means that you get yourself to do what you have

planned to do, no matter what. If you set your mind to do certain

things, at a certain time, and you succeed in your plans, then you

are self disciplined. You need a lot of willpower to be self

disciplined. When you try to practice self discipline you

sometimes run out of willpower. You are frequently tempted to

relax and to have fun instead of work. You will have plenty of

time for real fun when you finish your work! If you give in to

temptation, you lose out on both learning and fun. When you

feel you are giving in to temptation, you have to go fill up your will-power tank again.

20

Page 21: The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/the-art-the-technique-of-revision-of-exams 21/37

The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

It is useless to try to apply the "Recipes" in the remaining part of

this sheet if you cannot build up your willpower and show self

discipline.

How to study effectively

NO EATING OR DRINKING WHILE STUDYING.

Eat or drink or go to the bathroom only during the time you haveassigned for rest, and never during study time.

NO TELEPHONE CALLS!

Do not make or accept telephone calls during study time, even if you need to ask questions about your studies. Leave all

questions till break time.

NO TV OR RADIO!

Do not watch the TV while studying (or even listen to the radioif you find it distracting).

21

Page 22: The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

8/7/2019 The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/the-art-the-technique-of-revision-of-exams 22/37

The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

CONCENTRATE!

Never study without a pen and a notebook (or a piece of paper)

on which to write. The best way to concentrate is to write down

a summary of what you have read. When you write things down

you force yourself to concentrate.

Another technique that may help is to set a time limit for a

particular assignment. When you set a time limit for an

assignment, you force yourself to concentrate.

GETTING STARTED.

The first major difficulty many students face is to make

themselves start studying. This is why a study timetable is very

important. Set an alarm clock to ring when you should start; ask

your parents to help you get started at a specific time; use your

willpower. Use ANY technique to get yourself to start studying.

MAKE THE EFFORT

The second major difficulty is to get on with the work. Many

students sit to study but do not make any real effort to get going.

22

Page 23: The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

8/7/2019 The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/the-art-the-technique-of-revision-of-exams 23/37

The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

The result is that they "Punish" themselves by sitting at their

desks for many hours, day dreaming and not learning anything.

They may read but nothing goes into their heads because they

are thinking of something else. They do not make that extraeffort to concentrate, so they end up washing time instead of

studying.

A major problem with many students is that the moment they

open a book to study they feel sleepy. It is important to know

why this happens: SATAN- you arch enemy is in your way. So

never forget to ask for divine help to ward off Satan before you

start.

You are not just a single unit; you are just a single personality.

Your brain has billions of individual units - cells - that areinteracting with each other. Like people in government, these do

not always agree on what to do. Some cells want to do certain

things; other cells want other things to be done.

When you have to study, the part of your brain that we call

"Common sense" tells you that you should study. Other cells

that we call the "Energy savers", or the "Work is boring" group

of cells, realize that studying could be tiring, so they come up

with another argument: "Okay, you have to study, but not now.

23

Page 24: The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

8/7/2019 The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/the-art-the-technique-of-revision-of-exams 24/37

The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

Now your body needs rest. You feel sleepy, and you must go to

sleep". These cells try to convince your body that it is tried, and

tell your eyes that they must close. So you feel sleepy. Actually,

you may not be sleepy at all if your best friend calls and asksyou to come over, you'll find yourself to be full of energy and

ready to go! So what do you do?

One of two things: The first thing is to play the game of the"Energy savers" and Go to sleep for ten to fifteen minutes.

When you wake up start studying, this time the "Energy savers"

can't tell you that you are sleepy.

The other thing you can do is tell the "Energy savers" to shut up.

Sit up in your chair, write, and study while pacing the floor. Do

anything to conquer the feeling of sleepiness. Concentrate on

your work.

In order to concentrate you can try one of the following

techniques, or find some other technique that works for you.Another major difficulty which students meet is to continue

studying until the task is properly completed.

24

Page 25: The ART & The TECHNIQUE (of revision of exams)

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/the-art-the-technique-of-revision-of-exams 25/37

The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

Many students stop studying when they have "Understood" what

they have read. Understanding is not studying; it is only the first

step in studying. The second step is to commit to memory what

has been studied. You should not stop studying until you canclose the book and repeat without error what you have studied.

In case of English, you need to learn idioms, figures of speech,

standard vocabulary and their synonyms. Most importantly you

must learn the concepts of how to write and what to write in

each section of your paper.

Off course memorizing without understanding would be utter stupidity.

In fact, learning using all your senses plays a key role in a

lasting impression on your brain. Use your fingers to count each

point, try to picture the objects you are learning use highlighter

pen for important points make side notes beside each paragraph,

learn loudly, but repeat what you have learnt in your own words

as far as possible.

Another major mistake students make is to study only their

favorite subjects, leaving out the ones which are boring or difficult. Such impartiality towards subjects will only inflict

harm on your performance.

25

The ART & The TECHNIQUE: of Revision for exams

Try to tackle the subject you find difficult till you feel you have

mastered it. Don't hesitate to get extra help from the teacher

after school or during Library periods you may also check

concepts from study guides or from the Edexcel website. Youmay even e-mail them questions. Facebook can be utilized for

such purpose though it is not without its dangers as students

often succumb to the temptation of unnecessary chatting.

Finally, just as you begin in the name of Allah, end with a

thanks giving prayer, for helping in a successful study. May

Allah help you to study well and accomplish the Sunnah.

Subhanaka la ilmalana illa ma allamtana innaka antal alim ul

hakim!

We approached the secretary of the school council, A. Moiz, and

the Head boy, Asad Saeed, with a carefully engineered script. They, in return, revealed something that no one would expect.

Ibrahim: Moiz, How are you?

A.Moiz: Ummm… I am fine!

Ibrahim: You got five A grades…

A.Moiz: … four As

Ibrahim: Well, okay, we had students with 10 As also but we

picked you because you are not a nerd. You enjoy life and study

and have a balance between both. So without flattering you any

further, let’s move on. What is your revision method?

A.Moiz: Well, I concentrate in the class. Most of the lecture, I

absorb in class.

Ibrahim: I mean what is the time you give to your studies at

home?

A. Moiz: It depends, actually, on the mood.

Ibrahim: On average, let’s ask

A. Moiz: One hour on average.

Ibrahim: Hey! What’s that? Just one hour?28

A. Moiz: Actually I learn in class…

Ibrahim: I won’t even fall for that one! Okay, let’s move on,

what do you do when not studying?

Moiz: Well, is this an interview about my studies or my

 biography?

Ibrahim: We are interviewing you for your biography; you know

you are a celebrity on our tabloid’s cover.

(Moiz and Ali Laugh)

Moiz: Well, I surf on the computer.

Ibrahim: You “Surf on the computer”! What is your grade in

English?

Moiz: Ummm..B!

Ibrahim: Okay! So you “Surf on the computer” then?

Moiz: I meant that I surf the net. And I hang out with friends.

Ibrahim: So Ladies and gentlemen, He hangs out with friends

and he “Surfs on the computer”.

Moiz: Surf the net!

Ibrahim: What do you do when online?

Moiz: Facebook and …

Ibrahim: Okay lets comeback to the initial question: We usually

come to face a pressure from our parents who want us to keep

studying.

Ali: As a side note, it turns out to repel us from our studies.

Ibrahim: So do you ever face such pressures guy?

Moiz: No! I study when I feel like studying.

Ibrahim: So all the parents who are reading this, I have 2

messages for you:-

1. Stop pressurizing your children to study when they do not

feel like it.

2. Stop reading a book that is meant for your children to read.

(End)

Ibrahim: Hi Asad, What is your name?

Asad: Asad.

Ibrahim: That even I know, I mean your full name.

Asad: Asadullah Muhammad Saeed Mazin Syed Khan

Yousafzai

Ibrahim: Asad has scored an excellent amount of A grades in his

O Levels and scored straight As in his AS Levels. Partially, this

contributed in him being made the Head boy of IES. However,

the question is: How did you manage to get so many As? Now

don’t tell me you were born brilliant or something…

Asad: Most of the Knowledge I absorb in the class…

Ibrahim: what do you do at home?

Asad: As far as home study is concerned, on average, I study 15

minutes.

Ibrahim: Okay, let’s move ahead, your home revision strategy

 before:

• CCCAs

• Mock papers

• Final Exams/ Board Exams.

Asad: Before CCCAs, I study 15 minutes and take a 30 minutes

break, total amount of revision time I spend before CCCAs is 1hour and 30 minutes on average.

Ibrahim: Okay, so before we come to exams, it is really stressful

for students who do not revise regularly but what about people

like you who revise daily and concentrate in class?

Asad: Before Exams, well, I feel relaxed that come on, a whole

week is there!

Ibrahim: Before we come to the question that how much you

revise before the Board examination, just give us a short

description of what you do in your free time. Let me give an

example of myself, because it makes me feel important, I am

busy with this project in my free time so do you do anything

 productive?

Asad: Well, I do nothing productive. I am, basically interested in

Music, movies and my Laptop. I also play football.

Ibrahim: Well football is productive after all. Okay, let me know

whether your parents pressurize you or not?

Asad: They don’t even disturb me near exams. I work on my

own will and in my own room.

Ibrahim: You mean that your parents trust you, and that you

have never let them down. You got straight As in AS Levels.

You have lived up to their expectations. Excellent. Now tell me

about your preparation strategy before the Final/Board

Examination.

Asad: Yes, as far as the preparation for the Board exams is

concerned, I concentrate a lot. I focus on studies and that is what

I want the other students to do. Those are the days when you can

say to yourself “Just these days will decide my fate”. I used to

prepare from 8PM to 2AM. My advice for all is to study as

much as they can to the point that the can concentrate no more.

That’s for the final days

Echoes from the field

(Tips from a field Expert)

Disclaimer: All the characters, settings and/or any details are

imaginary. Any similarity between the content within and real

life is pure coincidence.

Haseeb is the world’s ideal when it comes to revision techniques. He has

so high a social worth that as I write about him, my article is given thelowest priority and is placed in the end of this manual. More than ten

years of schooling (which have been saturated with more than enough

teachers) have been enough to drill this piece of information into

Haseeb: If you don’t study beforehand, you are sure to screw up in the

exam! He doesn’t know if this rule applies to everyone, since some have

the capacity to thrive under horrible pressure. So it’s always helpful to

have a few tricks up your sleeve. Here he has compiled nine top revision

techniques that may help you:

1) The first one is rather obvious- start studying from day one. While

this is easier said than done, if done tends to produce astonishing

results, Haseeb can’t tell you how astonishing, since he has never

tried.

2)  Don’t daydream in class. Scientists have proved that day-dreaming

is a healthy past-time as it keeps your mind active, but while you

have to hear your teachers talk about surds and more surds?

Haseeb doesn’t agree!

33

3) Time yourself to solve the practice question bank papers within the

time limit. No wonder so many students complain about being

unable to finish the Maths O’Level paper within the time limit

every year. And there’s a newsflash: the board people won’textend your time limit. But you can shorten your thinking and

acting time. For the Pak Studies History paper, take a half hour for

each question, since you have to do three questions, and only 1 and

a half hour.

4) Study in your parents’ room. He has learnt that He’s normally

drawn towards anything that isn’t academic while He’s studying

(and that includes reading Joseph Conrad, who had to be the most boring writer on planet Zorkon. No offence to those who like him.)

Haseeb’s parents are there to stop him from uncontrollably logging

onto Facebook or switching on the TV to watch “The Simpsons”.

5)  Keep your fuels burning.  Don’t get tired because that way, you

can’t get much studying done. You only look like you’ve been

doing a lot of work (Oh, wow you’re studying so much Haseeb!)

Keep snacking in between time intervals and drink lots of water – it keeps you hydrated. But don’t make the fatal mistake of drinking

a lot of Red Bull. One guy drank 6 Red Bulls in a day and has

been admitted to hospital for nervous disorders. Haseeb’s story?

He bought a huge stack of Red Bulls during his O-Levels, which

didn’t help him AT ALL. For some reason, he just felt tired and

drained after the exam, and his eyes kept on twitching during the

exam, which was a really pleasant sight.

6)  Never be over-confident or under-confident.  Haseeb studied 2

Maths Chapters which he really believed to be easy, and so

slackened off a bit. The next day, during the Class Test, his eyes

were bugging out of his head as he tried to solve the very sums he

had been so sure of and passed over the previous night.

Generally, Maths always tends to undermine his confidence

(wouldn’t it, if your younger sister proves to be more capable of solving your sums than you are?). And the one time he became

over-confident, it back-fired on him.

7)  Don’t believe the theory that you should chuck away your books

and PSP games because they distract you. Everything should be in

moderation. The only thing that will happen is that you’ll feel

miserable. Haseeb’s not a kill joy, and probably will never be. Do

what you want, and study alongside.

8) Make sure that your environment is suitable to study in.  Haseeb

has found that he can’t study at all if the room is freezing. And this

may sound funny: if he studies, he wants a little bit of noise. If

there isn’t any, his ears start buzzing, which is a lot more

distracting than the noise would have been. Who knows if the same

applies to you?9)  Above all, don’t try to study a lot at a time.  Cover topics little by

little according to importance. His mom’s favorite quote is,

“You should revise everything before hand, and watch T.V the

night before the exam”. He tries to do so, but studying every night

requires tremendous will-power. Which he hopes all of you have,

because it’s horrible cramming all of your workload on the last day

and then asking your friends for answers. Take it from someonewho’s been there.
