We are so glad you’ve chosen to worship with us this week! Hearing assistance devices are available for the Sanctuary. Please see an usher to obtain these aids. Enjoy fellowship, coffee, and snacks in the Family Life

Center Gym between worship services.

Our Vision Christ-centered, multigenerational, family and community relevant ministries

through worship, discipleship, and mission.

Our Mission REACH, TEACH, and SEND

We REACH out to our congregation, community, and the world to TEACH the word of God as provided in the Holy Scripture, and SEND our members and missionaries to be witnesses to God’s grace and His promise of eternal

life to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Worship Services

Break Free

Our Saturday evening service begins at 6:00 pm in the Family Life Center. This transformational service involves modern music, multimedia, and a style of preaching that is practical and participatory.

Traditions

At 8:00 and 11:00 am Sunday mornings in the Sanctuary we celebrate through the rich traditions of our faith such as hymns led by organ and piano, seasonal vestments, and traditional Methodist liturgy. Our Chancel Choir leads the 11:00 service.

Connect

At 9:30 Sunday mornings in the Sanctuary we engage in a four-fold service of gathering praise, service of the Word, Holy Communion with candle stations for prayer, and sending forth. The music is a blend of contemporary praise songs and upbeat hymns.

Freedom

At 11:07 Sunday mornings in the Family Life Center Gym we worship through modern music, multimedia, and a teaching style message in a non-traditional atmosphere. We come to God as we are to experience the freedom of not having to stay that way.

Welcome to Shalimar UMC

Welcome to Shalimar and the Month of May

Welcome to Shalimar UMC! And welcome to the month of May! The month of May lives up to its name because it “MAYbe” the month offering the most variety of special days and observances. Every week on our calendar this month will have a distinctive significance. What do the upcoming weeks hold for Shalimar UMC! This weekend we dedicate the new playground. What a joy to hear the sound of children playing on the new playground. As we dedicate the playground today, we as a church are consecrating a space for children to come and be filled with joy and fun. We are grateful to those who gave so generously of their resources and for those who have been stewards of the vision to make the playground possible. What an exciting day for our children and church! Today, we also welcome Rev. Jeff Spiller who will meet and consult with our staff and laity to gain insight that will help us become more fruitful as we move into the future. Jeff has been a very successful pastor and great resource to come in and engage local churches to help identify possibilities in planning for future growth. Jeff was the founding pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile and served for thirty-five years of phenomenal growth. The next three Sundays we will have three distinctive kinds of Sundays. Next week, May 13th, will be Mother’s Day. We will honor our Mothers and look forward to welcoming those who will be visiting their Mothers from out of town. The following week, May 20th, we will recognize 2018 graduates. (Families of Seniors: Please see the Beacon article with request for Senior information and pictures for this celebration.) On May 27th, we will have remembrance of all who died in the service as we observe Memorial Day Weekend. As you can tell, every Sunday in May has a special theme. We hope you will be “ALL IN” for these special days of May. In addition to our special observances in May, our church will be the host for end of the year school banquets and festivities. Our church campus is always in demand. In May, our church campus will be abuzz with constant ministry and community activity. This happens all the time! The month of May just “MAYbe” the month with something different and special every week. The All IN series also continues into the month of May. In addition, we will gather at the table of the Lord this weekend for Holy Communion. As we do, let us remember the love of Jesus for each of us and may we seek to be one with Christ, each other, and the world!

"Being all in and living all out for Jesus is about action, taking chances, and following God's will no matter what the cost. It is not enough to simply believe the Bible and have correct information about the Christian faith. We need to do something!" Read James 1:22-25.

Think about inaction and the refusal to be transformed. How is this

self-deception?

What keeps you from following God?

What steps of obedience do you need to take?

Read Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Luke 10:27.

What does it look like when we love God entirely and passionately?

When was a time in your life when you did this?

How has God used your passion for him in your life?

Read 1 Samuel 14:1-23.

How does fear keep us on the sidelines?

How does faith move us to the front lines?

When was a time you followed God's call?
