The regular meeting day is the third Monday of the month, which would make it March 21. Confused? So are we. According to the by laws of the Board of Trade, a nominating committee for the annual general meet- ing must be appointed three months prior to the day of the general meeting (which is mandated to be held in January.) As of the council meeting in Janu- ary, no nominating committee had been put in place. Recently it was pointed out by the web- site, www.thebearrivertides.com that the minutes of the November 8 council meeting of the Board of Trade noted that a discussion was held regarding the "reduction of riffraff" for the new planned greenspace. The Board of Trade was asked to ex- plain who exactly they referred to with that term, but no answer was forthcoming. Bear River Riff Raff buttons are now being proudly worn throughout the village in response to this very inappropriate com- ment by the directors of the Board of Trade. "The seaplane C G Y F I of the Royal Canadian Air Force arrived in Bear River on Saturday and made a fine landing on the River opposite Clarke's marsh. SOCIAL NEWS: On Feb. 12 Andrew Henshaw accom-

panied by his parents, Matt and Joy, attended a Calliou Show in Halifax. Andrew was thrilled to see his favorite TV character.

We're proud to share that some of our Bear River residents gathered in B.C. to take part in a Ball Hockey Tournament in Feb. Chris and Greg Trimper traveled from Red Deer, Alberta where Chris met up with team mates Steve, Matthew and John Robinson. Team mate, Myles

Trimper and Tanya Wright also made the trip. While in the west, Tanya enjoyed visiting with her sister and daughters.

Glad to hear Gary Hurlock is ‘out and about’ after his recent illness.

Bob Benson returned from his holiday in Florida and Caribbean cruise looking a little more relaxed and ready to get back to plans for the Millyard's grand opening.

We wish a speedy recovery to Cory Melanson who recently fractured his leg in a nasty fall.

Flora Doehler and Larry Knox have survived studio fever and & opened a Etsy store to sell their work.

We look forward to the upcoming opening of a new eatery; Jon Welch's cafe in the Rebekah Hall building, in the former location of the Heritage Museum.

Congratulations to Gordon Tingley & Martin McGurk of Sledding Hill who have recently been approved for membership in A Taste of Nova Sco-tia. Sledding Hill is the former prop-erty of Don Rice & Norma Wagner.

Weary world traveller, Francois Bellefontaine, is exhausted after shopping in Hong Kong's Stanley Market, and can't wait to relax in his garden back home in Bear River.

Happy Birthday and speedy recov-ery to Doreen (Hopkins) Hall on Tues-day Feb. 22. She spent the day hav-ing gall bladder surgery at the VRH in Kentville.
