BOARD OF TRADE NEWS:

The Annual General Meeting of the Bear River Board of Trade was not held in January as required by the by-laws. The AGM will be held on

March 14 at 7:30, upstairs at the Fire hall.

The next meeting of the B of T will be held Feb. 21 at 7:30 at the Fire hall.

Anyone joining at the February meet-ing will be able to vote at the AGM. However, remember, you don't have to be a current member to get elected to office. A "code of conduct" is being prepared by Don Rice for new member s t o read and s ign . Plans are underway to reclaim and fill the Municipal land (formerly the Irving property) beside Cherry Brook grocery store so that it can be used as a park-ing lot/festival and event vendor space. The Committee explained that the development of this space is a relatively small and affordable pro-ject, but the location is very high pro-file and will greatly enhance the visitor experience and first impressions of Bear River. It was determined that the project could be completed for under $10,000. Proposed project completion date is March 2011. The Municipality of Digby has agreed to allow the Board of Trade to use this property.

Read more about the activities of the Board of Trade at thebearriver-tides.com. Thanks to all our supporters!
