Eid Mubarak or Blessed Eid (Arabic: يد بارك ع is a traditional Muslim greeting reserved for use on the festivals of Eid (م

al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. Eid means "celebration" and refers to the occasion itself, and Mubarak means "blessed"; for

example, performing the Eid prayer.

So Eid, meaning “celebration,” and Mubarak, meaning “Blessed” literally translates to wishing your friends a blessed

holiday. The celebration continues until the end of the day for Eid al-Fitr and continues a further three days for Eid al

Adha.

However, in the social sense people usually celebrate Eid al-Fitr after Ramadan and Eid-al-Adha in the month of Dhul

Haj (12th and Final Islamic month), greetings like "Eid Mubarak".

Some state this exchange of greetings is a cultural tradition and not part of any religious obligation. However, it is only

used during the celebration of the two Muslim holidays.

Friendly Way to Get Rid Of Roaches In an Apartment

Getting rid of roaches naturally can be a slow process.

With powerful insecticides, you’ll see results right away,

but you'll be exposing your family to toxic chemicals in

the process. Getting rid of them naturally not only keeps

your family from being exposed to harmful chemicals, but

it can also prevent the problem from reoccurring. So how

do you do it?

1. Clean, clean and clean again. As with most household pests, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

What do I mean? You’ve got to make sure your house is spic-and-span, because cockroaches are attracted to

food residue, particularly grease. That means wiping down the counters each night, never leaving dirty dishes

in the sink, making sure the stovetop is clean and sweeping the floors before you go to bed.

2. Seal up cracks and holes. That means inside your pantry, between the countertop and the wall, and in the

baseboards. Roaches (and other insects) can crawl through even the smallest of spaces, so it’s important to

seal the entries into your home. This may take time, but in the end, it’s worth the effort, especially if you live

in an apartment and have neighbors who don’t maintain the same standards of cleanliness as you do. You can

use a tube of caulk and a caulking gun to do the job.

3. Fix any water leaks. Roaches are attracted to moisture and water from leaks in pipes. That's why you often

find them scurrying under your sink. Some cockroaches can survive for months without food, but only days

without water. Close off their water sources by repairing even the tiniest of leaks. Don't let water stand in your

sink and don't overwater indoor plants.

4. Make your own, natural cockroach bait. Mix three parts boric acid with one part powdered sugar. The sugar

lures the roaches, while the boric acid kills them. Although the boric acid isn't toxic to people or pets, it can be

irritating so keep it away from counters and places where little fingers and noses can reach. Sprinkle it under

and behind the refrigerator, stove and dishwasher, under the sink, and into cracks along the edges of cabinets

and pantries.

5. Bring in the experts. If you want to get rid of roaches naturally and you’ve got a big infestation, try contacting

a natural pest control company. My pest control company uses a substance called diatomaceous earth in the

walls of my home (inserted through the holes around the wall outlets). Diatomaceous earth is a soft

sedimentary rock that is easily crushed into a fine powder. It is used in many things (including some medicines

and skin care products) but is often used as a mechanical insecticide because it causes an insect to die without

the use of chemicals. Look for a pest control company in your area that uses the substance — it’s not harmful

for you and your family and best of all, it’s effective.

JAKARTA SIGHTSEEING PLACES

Sunda Kelapa is the old port of Jakarta located on the estuarine of Ciliwung River. "Sunda Kalapa" (Sundanese:

"Coconut of Sunda") is the original name, and it was the main port of Hindu Sunda Kingdom of Pajajaran. The port is

situated in Penjaringan sub-district, of North Jakarta, Indonesia.

Today the old port only accommodate pinisi, a traditional two masted wooden sailing ship serving inter-

island freight service in the archipelago. Although it is now only a minor port, Jakarta has its origins in Sunda Kelapa

and it played a significant role in the city's development.

From the 13th to 16th century Sunda Kelapa was the main port of Sunda Kingdom. The port served the capital, Pakuan

Pajajaran, located about 60 km inland south, along the Ciliwung river hinterland, now the site of modern Bogor. The

port thrived on international spice trade especially pepper, the main spice produce of the Sunda kingdom.

Sunda Kelapa, together with Aceh and Makassar, were one of the few Indonesian ports that maintained ties with

Europe.

By 1511, the Portuguese had conquered Malacca and established the earliest European colony in Southeast Asia.

According to Suma Oriental, written in 1512–1515, Tomé Pires, a Portuguese explorer reported about the importance

of the port of Calapa which corresponds to the port of Sunda Kalapa.

In 1522, the Portuguese secured a politics and economic agreement with the Hindu Kingdom of Sunda, the authority

of the port. In exchange for military assistance against the threat of the rising Islamic Javan Sultanate of Demak, Prabu

Surawisesa, king of Sunda at that time, granted them free access to the pepper trade. Portuguese who were in the

service of the sovereign, made their homes in Sunda Kelapa.

However, in 1527, Fatahillah, on behalf of the Demak attacked the Portuguese in Sunda Kelapa and succeeded in

conquering the harbour on June 22, 1527, after which Sunda Kelapa was renamed Jayakarta. Later, the port became

a part of the Banten Sultanate.

In 1619, Jan Pieterszoon Coen, an official working for the Dutch East India Company, seized the port of Jayakarta from

the Sultanate of Banten and raized the city. From the ashes of Jayakarta, the Dutch built a new city, Batavia.

The old port served as the main port of Batavia until the late 19th century, when the Netherlands East

Indies government decided to build a new Tanjung Priok port to accommodate the increasing traffic as a result of the

opening of the Suez Canal.

The new port is located 9 kilometers to the east from the old port. After the independence of the Republic of Indonesia,

the Batavia old port was renamed back to its original name, Sunda Kelapa, as a tribute to the long history of the port

as the cradle of Jakarta.
