BRAE NEWS & EVENTSAdvice for our Graduates from the

BRAE Department

Dr. Mark Zohns: Play hard. Work harder. You have recieved an outstanding education while you’ve been here at Cal Poly. The education part doesn’t end now. Don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know.” Do be willing to say, “I’ll find out.”

Virgil Threlkel: Wear a tie. Stay smart. Keep your eyes open. Get involved. Above all, have fun!

Dr. Charles Crabb: Don’t ever let go of your curiosity to continue learning.

Dr. Art MacCarley: “The first requisite for success is to develop the ability to focus and apply your mental and physical energies to the problem at hand - without growing weary. Because such thinking is often difficult, there seems to be no limit to which some people will go to avoid the effort and labor that is associated with it.” - Thomas A. Edison

Dr. Bo Liu: If you are offered a great opportunity, take it first, then figure out how to do it later!

Tom Mastin: Graduation is just the start of your learning experience!

Dr. Andrew Holtz: Don’t be a stranger

Tina Pedersen: Take action!

Dr. Samantha Gill: In the past few years, we’ve taught you how to learn and my advice is to never stop learning. By continuing to learn new and exciting things, you can achieve whatever you set your mind and heart toward.

GW Bates: Never stop learning!

Gary Weisenberger: Have fun! Good luck in the real world.

BRAE NEWS & EVENTSPup of the Week:

Jonathon Michael KeithMeet Jonathon Keith! This second year BRAE student was born and

raised in the town of Lodi, California. When he isn’t hitting the books or working around the clock for good old Virgil Threlkel, he is out in the great outdoors fishing, kayaking, and golfing. He loves being part of the Cal Poly community and has been welcomed with open arms into the BRAE family by the lovely faculty and peers in the department. He loves working in the

labs and compliments Virgil saying, “he isn’t just our boss, or the shop technician, but he is a friend to everyone in the department”. Jonathon is

involved in tractor pull, as well as, Cal Poly. He always fancies a BLT during his breaks for a snack. His goals for the next five years include using the

next few summers interning in different fields of agricultural engineering to find out what he wants to focus on for his career.
