Run by a part-time staff of 2 and 67 dedicated volunteers, IA operates in over 80% of the care homes on the island and has successfully pioneered the use of innovative, digital tools. Independent Arts

Independent Arts on the Isle of Wight tackles dementia, social isolation, disability and disadvantage through using the arts as a daily tool to improve the health and quality of life of the elderly. Run by a part-time staff of 2 and 67 dedicated volunteers, IA operates in over 80% of the care homes on the island and has successfully pioneered the use of innovative, digital tools.

A grant of £7120 funded a wide-scale pilot of technology researched and developed by IA, using iPads to benefit dementia sufferers. The success of the pilot provided proof of concept for a number of marketable products including a model for dementia services care now available for sale on the website, which are already generating on-going income streams.
