members and 48 observers).
18 international organizations are liaison members of CASCO: BIPM, CEOC, CAC, EFAC, EOQ, Eurolab, IAF, IFAN, IFIA, IIOC, ILAC, INLAC,
IPC, IQNet, ITU-T, OIML, UILI, UNFCCC and IEC.
CASCO performs both policy and technical work (develops
standards)

STAR - promotion of CA standards
The Strategic Alliance and Regulatory Group (STAR) is responsible to oversee the CASCO communication strategy by:
• Providing a mechanism for industry sectors and intergovernmental regulators to interact with CASCO
• Providing a forum to discuss conformity assessment concerns of industry sectors and regulators
• Giving CASCO advice on how to enhance and develop relationships with intergovernmental organizations and economic sectors
• Promoting the CASCO toolbox to international agencies (regulators) and industry/economic sectors and other interested groups
• Another major effort is the promotion of the CASCO toolbox to developing economies. CASCO in conjunction with DEVCO.

• The ISO/CASCO Road Map, a plan where each document being processed within ISO/CASCO is referenced with targets for progressing the work;
• The CPC task group recommendations to improve the Management System Standards (MSS) complaints mechanism;
• The ISO/CASCO balanced scorecard, based on the ISO Strategic Plan that serves as a means of measuring progress and success of the conformity assessment (CAS) unit;
• To hold the next ISO/CASCO plenary meeting in Beijing.

Market Surveillance – Information booklet developed on regulatory Good Practice aimed to assist developing economies
Interpretation Panel – Completion of 8 requests for interpretation – process is functioning well.
Confirmed the CASCO interpretation process and undertook to review in 6 months
CASCO Newsletter developed and 3rd edition released.
Launched ISO Connect for CASCO news
IAF-ISO Action plan on monitoring the effectiveness of Accredited Management System Certification – progress is on schedule.
Also new strategic plan for the IAF-ILAC-ISO JWG
Making CASCO participation more accessible to developing regions a by meeting outside of Geneva and providing Web conferencing extensively for workshops and WG meetings.
Develop a brochure for use by the NMB in promoting the CASCO toolbox to national regulators.
Organize a regional workshop on the use of the CASCO toolbox by regulators
Task force on Management System Standards complaints and interaction with NMB and consumer organizationsen
