MEET THE CAST & CREW

RIP RUSSELL (Walter Hollander) Is a University of Iowa Theatre Arts graduate and has performed locally with Dreamwell Theatre, City Circle Acting Co., Theatre Cedar Rapids, Classics at Brucemore, SPT Theatre, Combined Efforts Theatre, University of Iowa Theatres, and over 20 productions with Riverside Theatre. Favorite roles include John Proctor in The Crucible, Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, Henry in Mud, and Eddie Carbone in A View from the Bridge. He was most recently seen in Kate Aspengren's play House of Wonders. This is Rip's 14th production at ICCT dating back to Same Time, Next Year in 1983. Rip lives in Iowa City with his wife Janis and their parrots, Dickens and Buddy. LOIS CROWLEY (Marion Hollander) was a Thespian in high school and enjoyed doing drama with her students during her teaching career. Lois was most recently Ann Putnam in Dreamwell’s pro-duction of The Crucible. She thanks Krista for giving her the opportunity to play Marion in Don't Drink the Water. In her free time, Lois enjoys gourmet cooking, reading, biking and playing bridge. REED PERKINS (Magee) is very much enjoying the chance to play the goofy yet lovable screw up in Don’t Drink the Water. It is similar to the role of Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace he played in college, and fairly accurately describes him in real life as well. He identifies mostly as a dancer and has played that role since he was 8 in various shows including the recent productions of White Christmas and Gigi here in Iowa City, but is still thrilled to stretch his acting muscles as well. ELIZABETH (BETSY) LITMAN (Susan Hollander) is delighted she finally has enough time off from graduate school to participate in theater again. This is her first show with ICCT and she is continually amazed by the work of her colleagues. She was last seen doing the pit in high school productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Oklahoma, as well as acting solo in the 2005 National Speech and Debate Tournament. She'd like to thank Krista for this wonderful opportunity, and Reed and her housemates for running lines all evening long. When not on stage, she's a full-time third-year graduate student at the U of I Dental School, and spends her free time sewing, baking and playing fetch with her dog, Linus. DUANE LARSON (Father Drobney) makes the long commute from Cedar Rapids for his first pro-duction with ICCT. In recent years, he has performed in Leaving Iowa, You Can't Take It With You, and Drama at Dry Gulch Creek at Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre, and Much Ado About Nothing and A Comedy of Errors with Ushers Ferry Community Theatre. He has also written for and performed in Theatre Cedar Rapids Underground Festival in 2010 and 2011. He'd like to thank Krista for giving him a fun character to play, and the cast for a lot of laughs. BRAD QUINN (Kilroy) Bio not provided. ALI AJRAM (Krojack) is making his Iowa City debut for ICCT, and is excited to be working on this project, and with such a great cast. He'd like to thank Krista for the opportunity to be part of this production, and the rest of the cast for their input and support. Ali studied at the U of I and lives in Cedar Rapids. TARA ACTON (Chef Colette) graduated with an MFA in creative writing and has enjoyed staying active with local theatre and opera in Iowa and Michigan. Her favorite roles include the Duchess in The Gondoliers, Maggie Cutler in The Man Who Came to Dinner, and Rusty in Footloose. Other credits include The Sound Music, A Christmas Carol, and Anything Goes. Tara would like to thank Krista for making this show a great experience, and her family, friends, and boyfriend for all their encouragement! KIM QUAL (Ambassador) This is Kim's first performance in an Iowa City Community Theater production. He played Giles Ralston in Agatha Christie's The Mouse Trap, when he was a high school student in 1969. His second performance was as Ensign Pulver in Mister Roberts, when Kim attended community college. Kim and his wife have lived in Iowa City for 25 years. They have three children. Kim has enjoyed this wonderful experience working with the cast and crew of this production. He plans to remain active in Community Theater. REBEKAH KENT (Burns) most recently appeared in White Christmas and Man of La Mancha. This is the first non-musical production she has been in since high school. During the day she works as a bank teller and enjoys singing, reading and cycling. This is Bekah's 5th show with ICCT. JOSEPH ANDERSON (Sultan) has not done formal theater in about 6 years and is more than thrilled to be back in costume. If he thinks really hard he can recall performing at multiple Madri-gals in recent years at Cornell College. However, he has done very little acting on stage recently,

but plenty of acting in real life. He understands that the insinuation that acting is not real life will likely be met with more than subtle jeers and boos, so he will clarify. BRETT MYERS (Kasnar) has appeared in several Iowa City productions and is currently direct-ing a few more. He is a student in the speech pathology graduate program at the University of Iowa. He previously acted and directed in Baltimore, MD where he appeared in another produc-tion of Don't Drink the Water as Father Drobney. Brett sends a thank you to all the patrons for sup-porting the great arts community in the area. DANIELLE PAULSEN (Countess) is a student at the University of Iowa and a Veterinary Techni-cian at All Pets Veterinary Clinic who just recently started tapping into the local community thea-ter after a hiatus for a couple years. Don’t Drink the Water is her third area show and she has previ-ously been seen on stage in City Circle’s The Rocky Horror Show as a Transylvanian and A Christmas Carol as Belle Crawford and Mrs. Fred. She'd like to thank her family for unconditional support. REBECCA ANDERSON (Sultan’s First Wife) is partially seen and heard in this, her first appear-ance with ICCT. Her favorite past roles include Celia in As You Like It with the Cornell College English Dept, Jessie in 'night, Mother with Stage Left Productions, and a puppeteer for Claire in The Long Christmas Ride Home with Riverside Theatre. Her first love, however, is musical theatre, and she hopes you will see and hear more of her in the near future. ROXY RUNNING (Sultan’s Wife) has been in a number of area shows since her Iowa City debut in The King and I (ICCT) and was most recently on stage as Rachel in House of Wonders (ICCT). She played Susan in her high school production of Don't Drink the Water and jumped at the chance to do the show again. She'd like to thank Krista for making room for her on the stage. When she's not acting Roxy enjoys knitting, singing, and sleeping. JACKIE ALLEN (Sultan’s Wife) has been involved in various theatre projects around the Iowa City area for the past 5 years. She's been back stage doing sound, stage manager, etc. as well as onstage. Her latest role was ensemble for Gigi. She'd like to thank her husband for spending extra time with their three small sons so she can do theater. Her next adventure will be joining the ensemble in Guys And Dolls (City Circle) in June. SUSAN MANUEL (Sultan’s Wife) has been in numerous productions at ICCT including most recently, Sound of Music, And Then There Were None, My Fair Lady and South Pacific. This one by far has made her laugh the most. Susan loves singing with her church choir and the women's ensem-ble Sisters of Song. KRISTA NEUMANN (Director) was a professional actress in the 70’s and 80’s after which she retired to raise a family. Born and raised in Chicago, Krista has a BA in Speech and Theatre from Carthage College, has taught theatre at high school level, and has run a successful community theatre, T4.C in Southern California. Her directing credits include: A View From The Bridge, Uni-versal Language and The Philadelphia, from All in the Timing, Godspell with Zachary Levi, Teach Me How To Cry, The Time Of Your Life, Great Expectations, Annie, The Sound of Music, 42nd St, and Crazy For You. EVIE STANSKE (Assistant Director) - Bio not provided. RICHARD BEEBE (Stage Manager) comes to ICCT from the Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica, Ca., where he stage-managed H.M.S. Pinafore, Two Trains Running, Broken Eggs, The For-eigner, Paper Angels/Bitter Cane, Hotel Paradiso, Twelfth Night, Tartuffe, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and Measure for Measure, among others. “Thanks to Krista for inviting me to join such a dedi-cated and fun cast!” REBEKAH OULTON (Lighting Designer) has been involved with theater since she saw her first live show, Fiddler on the Roof, at age four. After spending most of her childhood performing on-stage, she discovered about 10 years ago that she felt more at home backstage. Since then, she has worked as lighting designer, assistant director, or stage manager for countless productions in California and – most recently – as lighting designer for White Christmas (ICCT). She’s delighted to be working with ICCT again for Don’t Drink the Water and hopes you enjoy the show as much as she does. RUTH FISHER (Props) Ruth has been doing props for many years. She should know how by now. It's fun to work with old friends and get to know new ones. Thanks Krista.

You can become a member of the ICCT family for a fee of $25/yr., which gives you voting rights at our meetings, newsletters and other mailings, and advance information about shows and events related to the ICCT.

We can help your business get broader exposure in Iowa City and Johnson County. This is usually done by advertising in our playbills, but can also be by sponsorship of shows, elements of shows, or specific actors.

We are always in need of new and interested individuals for help at the community theatre in a number of different capacities: acting, directing, back stage, and at the front of the house.
