Strategic Planning & Investment Committee w
Parish Advisory Board w
School Advisory Board
Dear Brothers and Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
This is an especially significant day in the life of a Catholic Church family. We will prayerfully bless all those who take on the challenge of teaching your children the essentials of our faith. All engaged in the ministry of Catholic education on our behalf will be invited to the altar at the 10:00 A.M. Mass to renew their commitment. Academy faculty will be on the altar. Catechists of all ages will be on the altar. Children’s Liturgy of the Word leaders will be on the altar. Please take note of these parishioners and faculty who do this work for us. Please thank them personally. Anyone who might have the time to get involved in this good work is always welcome to speak up and we will find a way to use your talents!
I wish to restate the invitation to our Leadership Retreat on Saturday, September 24 from 9:30 A.M. to 12 Noon in the Titus Room. Members of the Parish Advisory Board, Strategic Planning and Investment Committee and School Advisory Board will be gathered in the Titus Room for reflection on these roles and how important they are to a Church community. Anyone who would like to be considered for these ministries is also welcome to attend.
We received a letter from Archbishop Myers authorizing a special collection to support the victims of the recent flooding in Louisiana. Since we already have a second collection for Eastern Europe in your envelope packets, I will send a check from our Charity account in the yearly budget in the amount of $1,500 to this very real human need. I trust that is okay with the Church family.
It is good for us to gather as a family again after the summer. Thanks for being part of our family!
Sincerely yours in Christ and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
fr. Dan [email protected]

BEING OPEN TO LOVE
Jesus’ love is so great that it continues to fill us with mercy and grace.
What barriers keep me from accepting the strength of Christ’s love in my heart? How can I overcome these barriers?
Lord, help me to open my heart to you without fear, and help me to know that nothing I’ve done can ever separate me from your love.

Catechetical Sunday September 18, 2016
Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. This year’s catechetical theme is “Prayer: The Faith Prayed.”
This Sunday at the 10 AM Mass our team of catechists are commissioned to teach in this school year’s program of religious education.
Everyone is invited for hospitality in the Parish Auditorium following the 10 AM Mass!
JUBILEE FOR CATECHISTS
On September 25th Pope Francis will join with catechists from around the world to celebrate the Jubilee for Catechists in Rome. The Catechetical Office of the Archdiocese of Newark invites all catechists of children, families, and adults from every parish to join us for a special Mass in celebration of the catechetical ministry.

For those living in Central and Eastern Europe, rebuilding in the wake of 70 years of Soviet rule is a constant struggle. Often, people face poverty, infrequent pastoral care, and lack of spaces for worship, presenting challenges as they try to live lives of faith. Your support of the Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe (CCEE) helps provide grants for projects to restore the Church and build the future in these areas. Thank you for your generosity!
