SLIPPERY ROCK AFRO‐COLOMBIAN DANCE ENSEMBLE:  The Ensemble is directed by Slippery Rock University professor Melissa Teodoro who has ethnographically re-searched the dances of Colombia’s Caribbean Coast since 1996. The performers are all dance majors from SRU who have assisted Teodoro in the research, re-construc on and re-staging of these dances. We will perform thee dances; Pilanderas, Fandango and Mapalé. Amigos del Cine Group will be presen ng short movies about Mafalda on a con nuing

basis—and an extra li le surprise!! You can arrive and leave at any me during these

two hours. These short movies last between 10 to 15 minutes each. Mafalda is an Ar-

gen ne girl, approximately six years old, with a great concern for the state of humanity

and a proverbial hatred of soup. She o en leaves her parents at a loss by asking about

mature or complex topics. As an example, she gets chided for not concerning herself

with childlike things but asking, instead, about China's communism; in response, she

pretends to play with bubbles in soapy water only to promptly proclaim that she is

done and then restate the China ques on once more. Her incisive observa ons o en

leave the adults at a loss. Mafalda is very popular in La n America, Europe, and Asia,

leading to two animated cartoon series and a book. A er Mafalda, we will share an-

other short movie, which will be a very nice surprise for the audience. Open to chil-

dren of all ages and to those who are children at heart!! See posters displayed around
