The next newsletter, The Christian Messenger, will be

mailed WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY ,20 2019.

Articles are due in the church office by

SUNDAY, FEBURARY 17, 2019

One of my favorite people to follow on the internet is a priest in

Minnesota named Father Mike.

In a speech at the Seek 2019 conference, Father Mike stated, “The Gos-

pel will not advance from a stage. It will only advance through

friendships and through family. And if you don’t have time for

either, you don’t have time for the Gospel.”

What family members do I need to invest in and bring to church?

Who are my coworkers that need me to speak God into their lives?

What members of my social group need to be invited to come to church

with me?

Who did I see in church that I know and would like to see come back,

and how shall I encourage them to return?

How can I start a small home study/fellowship group with some people

at church?

You are the key to church growth and making a difference in our com-

munity. How can you be a “welcome sign” to those who visit the church?

Wouldn’t it be great to have your friends and family in church with you,

working alongside you in the Lord? The key to this is YOU.

CHRISTIAN ACTION TEAM REPORT

As a member of MCC, we are all aware that our tithes, offerings and gifts serve to keep Monticello Christian Church thriving and functioning. Our weekly contributions pay for our building’s upkeep, utilities, repairs, and updates. Our funds cover the salaries of our wonderful staff including our pastors, our office staff, our music leaders, and our custodians. Our generous giving paid for our youth building, purchases our Sunday School and Bible School materials and does so much more. But did you know that your contributions also support many missions each week, month, year? 10% of what is given to the church each year is tithed back to the local community and the world through the Christian Action and World Outreach Teams. Your giving supports much more and reaches further than most of us realize.

In 2018, through the Christian Action Team, your tithes, gifts and offerings blessed our community through support of The Salva-tion Army, the White County Food Pantry, the Twin Lakes Food Pantry, and the White County Council on Aging. You supported Trinity Missions as they sought funding for a new home to aid those working to conquer addictions. You supported Birthright in Delphi, a Christian based organization whose focus is to help mothers and infants in need, offering them basic necessities such as clothing and diapers, but also offering them love, support, hope and counseling and giving them options other than abor-tion. Your money purchased restaurant gift cards as we partnered with a Christian Church in Sheridan that were included in gift bags full of warm clothing, snacks, etc, and were distributed to 300 homeless people in Indianapolis. You provided warm meals to those with the least. Your gifts spread love to the world as we participated in Operation Christmas Child, and you spread love to our local community when we played elves and left small gift bags full of Christmas cheer and God’s love on random porches in Monticello this Christmas season! Your giving helped fund our very own Clothing Closet set up in the Forge so local foster Chil-dren have new clothes to wear to school. Your funds helped numerous families in this community in 2018 with rent, utility, and prescription assistance. Your giving supported Weekday Religious Education so they can continue to spread The Good News to our local elementary school children. Your gifts have also aided many members of Monticello Christian Church the last several years as they dealt with financial hardships, illness, house fires, job loss and auto accidents through our Pastor Emergency Fund. We are doing great things in our world and our community, sharing blessing, hope and God’s love with many. So next Sun-day, when you drop your offering in the basket, know that through your giving, God’s love, mercy and grace is reaching far beyond the walls of MCC!

SPLINTERS FROM THE BOARD

January 14, 2019

All minutes, reports, and financials were approved as presented.

Team and board training was held.

December average worship was 295.

Daycare reported Safe Sleep Training is scheduled.

Youth reported the bus was safety inspected with no concerns noted. The floor was repaired, new tires installed, a hitch placed

on the back, and a new enclosed trailer purchased to haul items for youth work trips. The trailer is in the back parking lot.

If the weather causes the worship services to be cancelled, TV (WLFI) and radio (WMRS)

will broadcast the closings. The closings will also be announced via email to the Prayer

Chain and put on Facebook.

If a committee meeting or event is cancelled, the respective chairperson will phone mem-

bers to notify them of the cancellation.

THANK YOU Dear Church Family, Thank you for the Bibles and plaque in Steve’s memory. Carol Hall and family To My Church Family, I want to thank you for all your prayers, gifts and thoughtful-ness. It means so much to me to be remembered. I wish I was able to be with you in church but you are with me in my heart! Rosie Ryan Thank you for the prayers for Jerry. He is doing great. Marsha Morlan Dear Monticello Christian Church, Your generous contribution of $2,000 to White County Weekday Religious Education will aid us in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the fourth grade students of White County. It is our desire that many will come to know Him personally as their Savior. Please pray for our students—that they will be receptive to the Word; our teacher Cheri—that she will see them for who they are in God; and for our Board—that we will make wise decisions for God’s kingdom and His Glory. God bless you. On behalf of the WRE Board of Directors, Martha Winger, WRE Board Treasurer Thank you for letting our family use the Fellowship Hall for our Christmas. It was perfect.
