President’s Report 20-10-2015
All our efforts promoting the Rotary Club of Croydon and the Club’s
activities is starting to pay off.
Ticket sales for the Normie Rowe Fundraiser Concert are looking very
favourable and the Tickets for the Dressmaker Movie are flowing out the
door with the recent media promotion of the Movie. Your continued
efforts selling tickets, especially for the Normie Rowe Concert is
appreciated. Keep up the good work.
Sunday the 18th October, is the 3rd Croydon Scouts Jamboree Fundraiser. Rotary Club of Croydon will have a stand
there promoting the Club and membership. If you are able to venture down to Birdwood Avenue from 10am. to
3pm., please wear your Rotary Badge. There are plenty of activities to get involved in and I hear the Devonshire Teas
are excellent value. Say good day to the members that have put their hands up to enjoy the day and the sunshine.
The Normie Rowe Concert is being organised with members putting their hands up to help run the show. If you have
not been allocated an activity and would like one, please give Kevin Francis a call.
The Dressmaker is all good in Ross’s capable hands. Ticket sales are still required.
The Pegasus Swap Meet Barbecue and Sausage sizzle is well under way with Marlene at the helm. This is one of the
best fellowship days we have for the year. Take part and enjoy.
The Maroondah Festival and Membership day is approaching fast. There is a clash with the Bike Count being held on
the same day. We will need all members’ participation on the day to be able to carry off the two events.
David Ferres got some air time on Friday Night on 3AW and got the word out on Rotary and the concert. Here’s
hoping for some tickets sales come from his endeavour.
On Tuesday October 27th at the Dorset Gardens Hotel, 6.00 p.m. for 6.30 p.m. start we are holding the Grand Final of
the 4 Way Test, Public Speaking Competition to be completed by 7:30pm. This will be followed by dinner after which
we will have our meeting with Club Reports etc. We eagerly look forward to your participation at this event.
On Tuesday Night to give the members an idea of what is happening in the club and in the future, can all Committee
Chairs be prepared with a report to present to the members?
Catch you tomorrow at the Scout Venue, if not see you on Tuesday. Cheers, Richard
‘PINCHAPOO’
Last week we had a very interesting speaker in, Kate Austin, a domestic violence survivor and founder of ‘Pinchapoo’.
‘Pinchapoo’,is a very cheeky concept of ‘pinching’ shampoos and toiletries provided in your hotel rooms and donating
them to those who need them most.
Kate spoke to us of how she and a handful of volunteers collect all types of essential personal hygiene items for
thousands of disadvantaged Australians. Some of the organisations they supply these items to, are VincentCare, the
Salvation Army, Cottage by the Sea and even the prisons. These donations also allow the homeless to shower, shave
and deodorise for the first time in weeks, and also ensures those escaping domestic abuse have basics like a comb and
toothpaste.

The Travellers
The Three Musketeers, Marlene, Greg and Tony gave us a rundown on their recent boating expedition.

The Rotary Club of Croydon cordially invites you, your friends and associates to come along and enjoy
Australian music legend, Normie Rowe, singing his most popular songs.
Normie Rowe AM is proud to be a Patron of Kidney Health Australia.
Australia’s second Big Red Kidney Bus, providing holiday dialysis, is now in the planning thanks to the Rotary
Club of Croydon’s partnership with Kidney Health Australia (KHA).
Following the success of the first KHA Big Red Kidney Bus, the Rotary Club of Croydon has undertaken to
raise $150,000 to get the second Big Red Kidney Bus on the road. This will include the refurbishment of a
donated retired bus into a state-of-the-art holiday dialysis unit for 12 people each week.
This project allows Australian families to have a holiday in popular Victorian destinations, where dialysis is
not currently available.
The bus will be parked in a local holiday park for six weeks at a time, where Monash Health dialysis nurses
and renal technicians will provide the service.
