Mission Statement
In thankfulness to God, we, the Church of the Good Shepherd, gather at the Lord's Table, welcoming all, renewing our traditional Catholic faith, and worship-ing together through meaningful liturgies to build our community, the Body of Christ. We embrace life-long catechesis to grow spiritually and serve as an example to our children. We commit ourselves to sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ. As good stewards and followers of the Lord, we open our hearts to all, sharing our God given talents and treasure.

Parish Registration and Changes – Registration Forms are available in the vestibule of the Church. You may notify the office if you wish to register with, or be re-moved from the parish records, or if you have a change of address or telephone number.
Baptisms – Meeting with pastor required. Baptismal preparation class required for all first-time parents. Contact Mary Langhill at 365-0579 for additional infor-mation.
Marriage – Registered parishioners must contact the parish at least 6 months prior to the intended date.
Reconciliation – Before each Mass, or during the office hours by appointment.
Visitation of the Sick – Please call the office to arrange for communion, anointing of the sick, or when some-one is ill or hospitalized.
Scheduling Events – Please contact the office to schedule all meetings and activities at our facilities.

Food Bank
Our quarterly food collection is scheduled for Febru-ary 6 & 7. This year we are particularly in need of peanut butter, jelly and cereal. Please pick up a gro-cery bag from the table by the entrance as you leave this week, fill it up, and bring it back next weekend.

Calendar Update

Education News
The Family Catechesis for 7 Feb has been cancelled. Nor-mal Religious Education for K-8 will be held immediately following the 10 am. Mass, dismissing at 11:30 am.
Date change: K-8-led Way of the Cross has been changed from 18 March to 11 March. All parishioners are invited to attend and all school-age children are invited to partic-ipate.

Year of Mercy
All are encouraged to help the sick and home bound attend Good Shepherd’s healing Mass on Saturday, February 6 at 5:00 pm. Fr. Oscar will administer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick during Mass to those in need.

Mission of Hope at Good Shepherd
Mission of Hope is a non-profit, locally-run, night-stay service which hosts the homeless of Isle of Wight County during the winter months and of which Good Shepherd is a proud sup-porter. Please stop by the sign-up display in the commons to see where you can help serve the needy in our community this January (23rd-30th) and February (13th-20th). We will need meal providers, donated goods, cleanup crews, overnight chaperones, receptionists, Saturday loaders and unloaders, and a laundry crew. Open House at Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Diocesan Liturgy and Music Conference
3rd Annual Liturgy and Music Conference February 15: Join us as we welcome Fr. Roc O’Connor, SJ and Robert Feduccia to Richmond to speak at a one-day workshop on this year’s theme of “Sing of the Lord’s Mercy”.
