The cıty from the volcano In Turkey, there is a city that arose from volcanic eruptions so it consists of soft rock and it is called Goreme. In the Goreme valley, there are many churches.These are carved in the rock where monks and nuns used to live more than 1000 years old agou. Many churches, cells, stables were built between 900-1200 d.c Christianity in this area has been influenced by St. Basil, Grigore de Nazian and Grigor Nyssa. Goreme churches have three altars while the present Christian churches have only one altar. Both on the walls of their churches and our churches, we can find paintings of saints, the colors being very similar. As much as I like to describe these wonderful places the only way you can be convinced that these places are special is to simply visit them.
