What caused the civil war?

Are you wondering what caused the Civil War? Well, what caused the War was slavery. The South thought it was good and they used the slaves to get money and to make cotton. The North thought that slavery was wrong and terrible.

When did the civil war break out and where was the first battle

The Civil War broke out in 1861. The location of the first battle is Fort Sumter and that is the place where the first shots were.

Fort Sumter and the Generals

The General for the Confederacy (south) was Robert E. Lee and for the Union (north) was Ulysses S. Grant. Fort Sumter was the location of the first war for the Civil War. That is where the first shot fired, and the south won that war.

John brown’s raid on harpers ferry

John brown’s raid was when John brown gave guns to the slaves to fight for their freedom. He needed men and gun. This was a sudden attack, the people who gave John Brown money were abolitionist. This made the situation worst.

The Atlanta Campaign and March to the sea

The Atlanta campaign was when William Sherman marched with his troops to Atlanta and burned everything down. The march to the sea was when William Sherman and his troops marched to savannah destroying everything.

Gettysburg address

This is where Abraham Lincoln gave his famous speech on November 19, 1863 . At first during this war the south was winning, then the north won. This was a turning point for the North.

Appomattox Court House

The Appomattox court house was when Robert E. Lee (south) surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant. It was fought on the morning of April 9, 1865. Some soldiers went home instead of celebrating. This was the last war.

When did the war start and end

The war started on April 12,1861 and the war ended on April 9,1865. So the war lasted for 4 years.
