The Class of 1997 in 2017 Hello former classmates, Stacy Reed here. Here is the yearbook I have pre- pared in honor of our 20 year high school reunion. I hope you enjoy reading this book about your classmates. I enjoyed mak- ing it. At least I did the first 100 hours. I’m really poud of everyone and everything they have done. It was really an honor to put this together and to go to high school with such a great bunch of people. Our reunion took place on September 16, 2017 at Borgia High School. There was a tour led by Fr. Kevin and also featuring Dale Gildehaus. After the tour there was a dinner at the Wingbermuehle Activity Center. It was highlighting lo- cal favorite foods and drinks. There was an afterparty at the Old Dutch. A good time was had by all. We raised $2500 in honor of our former classmates, Barry Riechers and Erin Pruneau. The Foods class has 30 new aprons embroidered in their memory. We also bought foods an air fryer. The golf team has three new pull carts. The dance team has all new outfits and poms. I am very sorry if I have forgotten any- one or anything. If I did I apologize. Thanks for your time, Stacy Reed Rio

  • The Class of 1997 in 2017Hello former classmates, Stacy Reed here. Here is the yearbook I have pre-pared in honor of our 20 year high school reunion.I hope you enjoy reading this book about your classmates. I enjoyed mak-ing it. It was highlighting lo-cal favorite foods and drinks. There was an afterparty at the Old Dutch. A good time was had by all.We raised $2500 in honor of our former classmates, Barry Riechers and Erin Pruneau.

The Foods class has 30 new aprons embroidered in their memory. We also bought foods an air fryer. The golf team has three new pull carts. The dance team has all new outfits and poms. I am very sorry if I have forgotten any-one or anything. If I did I apologize. Thanks for your time,Stacy Reed Rio

  • I live in Hendersonville, Ten-nessee - home of Johnny Cash and where Taylor Swift went to high school. Other than the music city aspect, Hen-dersonville is pretty much just like Washington, MO. It’s just in Tennessee.

I moved to Nashville to work as an Assistant Attorney General at the Tennessee State Attorney General’s Of-fice. I loved it! I worked as a Consumer Advocate, where I worked as both an attorney and an accounting expert witness. I got to learn from brilliant attorneys

    - either because they were my colleagues or because they were my opposition and I had to figure out how to beat them. Although I loved what I did, when I had to work every weekend upon my return from maternity leave, I knew I had to find something different. So, now I work at a home office as a legal advisor and proposal writer for a St. Louis based company. I have the best of both worlds now. My family is the priority, including my hus-band Ryan McGehee, and my daughters Roxanna McGehee (3 years old) and Carolynna McGehee (7 months)What are you currently obsessed with?I’m currently obsessed with surviving... oh I mean, enjoying... the adjustment of having an infant + a threenager. Oh, and vacation. VACATION. Four days at the beach without the kids (which is why it is a vacation rather than a trip). First time for going to the beach since before Roxie (my oldest) was born.Places you have lived/traveled:I’ve lived in Springfield, MO (college - MSU); Sittard, The Netherlands (semester abroad); St. Louis, MO (work); Brisbane & Sydney Australia (work); Nashville, TN; Hendersonville, TNTraveling for work or pleasure was a top priority after I graduated high school. I’ve traveled to Mexico (Tijuana, Cancun), Bahamas, Aruba, The Netherlands (Amsterdam, Sittard, Maas-tricht), Belgium, Austria, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, Germany (but just to the grocery store there once); England, Northern Ireland, Canada (Banff National

Charlena Aumiller Park, Toronto, Halifax); Australia (Brisbane, Sydney, Cairns, Fraser Island, Melbourne, some mining town that I’ve forgotten the name of but it was in the outback), Mackay, etc.), New Zealand (South Island - Queenstown, Fox Glacier, Christchurch), Fiji, 39 U.S. States (all ex-cept Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Montana, North Dakota, Louisiana, Alabama, South Caro-lina, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine). How are you different than you were in high school?I’d like to say I’m wiser, or at least not so stupid, but some days, that is just not so.In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I’m still pretty passionate about my opinions. I thought it had been tempered by law school / work experience / age, but it turns out, it has not been. It’s just some days I’m smart enough to bite my tongue (see previous answer), or at least sup-port it with all kinds of fancier reasons. Oh, and I’m still a vegetarian. I always thought I’d start eating meat again when I got pregnant, but that didn’t happen.People you keep up with from high school.I don’t keep up with anyone from high school outside of Facebook. I was at the playground in my subdivision and I saw someone with an AB wagon and I asked them a little bit about it. Turns out, there’s a couple who lives 2 blocks from me that graduated in 1998 or 1999 from Borgia. It was then that I realized Hendersonville is just another name for WashMO, TN. Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite local food to eat when you are back in the area?I live outside of St. Louis, and when I return home, I LOVE Imo’s, toasted cheese ravioli, Aldo’s, gooey butter cakeWhat songs are on your 90’s playlist?I’m old school in the sense that I enjoy listening to the radio. I like other people to pick my music and I don’t want to be bothered with having to find and download it. I still enjoy hear-ing TLC, Salt n Pepa, Pearl Jam, U2, Green Day, Bel Biv Devoe, Shaggy, No Doubt, OMC, Third Eye Blind, Everclear, Chumbawamba, Desitny’s Child, Usher, Guns N’ Roses, and there are a couple of other songs that are on the tip of the tongue. I’m sure they’ll come back to me that night, though. What is the probability of you making it to the reunion?Barring any last-minute kid sicknesses (which unfortunately happen ALL the time), chances are good we’ll be there!

  • My life now, is surrounded by flowers and cattle. But I have left my heart in the hands of the 300 children I look after in In-dia.

What are you currently obsessed with?My babies in India, I am getting healthy while back on American soil. Places you have lived/traveled:For the past two years I have been living off and on in India. How are you different than you were in high school? Very different. Now I have the Holy Spirit. Back then I was selfish and living for my-self.

Elise Nordwald In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I still love my friends and keep in contact with them.People you actually see/keep up with from high school, Facebook doesn’t count. Jamie, Jill, Melissa, Kelly

Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite local food to eat when you are back in the area?Anything but riceWhat songs are on your 90s playlist?Nirvana, REM, live, CCR & CureWhat is the proba-bility of you making it to the reunion?50%

  • I live in New Melle with my husband and 3 sons. Gabe is 17, Charlie is 13, and Isaac is 8. We moved out here about 6 years ago because I adore 2 hour trips to the grocery store and not living close to civili-

zation. Really, though, we love having space for the kids to roam and living in a quiet secluded space. When I am not being a mom, I am a speech language pathologist at the Walker Scottish Rite Clinic at Maryville University which is code for “I get to play with 2 and 3 year olds all day and help them learn to talk.” Basically, the best job ever!

My current obsession is taking kids to a variety of sporting events all day every-day. Isn’t that everyone’s??? I do love watching my kids play sports, but my guilty obsession at the moment would have to be binge watching Scandal on Netflix, eating chips and dip and drink-

Sarah Larrison Schmidt ing Blue Moon. I know what you’re thinking, “Scandal has horrible acting and an unbelievable storyline.” And you’re right, it does. But I love it and we all need something I help us escape the children and their craziness.

I’ve lived in O’Fallon, MO and now in New Melle. We travel yearly to Table Rock Lake with the kids. And we have been to St. Thomas a couple of times (once with kids and once without). We are not big world travelers. We like our quiet routines. So boring, right???

Different from high school...well, I have more wrinkles, more laugh lines, more empathy, less tolerance for mean people, more confidence in who I am, less worries

Unchanged from high school...I am still loud. I’ve come to realize my voice just carries and runs at a certain volume and that is okay.

People I keep up with...Christine Skornia. And that pesky stepbrother of mine.

90’s playlist:Sir Mixalot (sang Baby Got Back to my kids a few months ago when it was on the radio and they were mor-tified. It was awe-some.)P. Diddy and the Notorious B.I.GBoyz II MenNirvanaJanet Jackson

  • Married to Liz (Noelker) - 10 years this summer. Two daughters, Noella (7) and Hattie (4), and our border collie Zeb (8). Still work for Car-hartt. Live in Bend, OR, because it’s awesome here - mountains, trails, rivers, lots of good beer. What are you currently obsessed with? Other than my family, my current obsessions learning to ski and fly fish (not at the same time), building a camper van (seriously), and anything on two wheels.Places you have lived/traveled: Since high school, I’ve lived in Springfield, LA, Detroit, Salt Lake City, and several cities in Oregon - Jacksonville, Portland, Hood River, and now Bend. I’ve traveled all over the West, and love it out here. How are you different than you were in high school? 1. Ever since college, I’ve realized how much I like being outside, so that’s my priority these days. Camping, hik-ing, cycling, skiing, fishing, gardening - any excuse to be outside with my family.2. I was a pretty lazy student back then, and I wish I would have tried a little harder. Over the past decade I’ve focused on learning at least one new skill each year. So far I’ve delved into brewing, woodworking, welding, bike mechanics, skiing, and fly fishing, among other stuff. It’s been good to push my boundaries a bit and has helped to rekindle a creative side of me that I hadn’t exercised in a long time.3. My taste in beer has drastically improved.4. Looking back at pictures, I’m surprised by how preppy I tried to be. And how much hair I had - that was awe-some.In what ways are you unchanged from high school? I’m still pretty extroverted. I like to meet and talk with new people, which is pretty much how I’ve always been (as far as I can recall, anyway). People you actually see/keep up with from high school, Facebook doesn’t count. Does Instagram count? From

Adam Holtour class, in person, not on Facebook... not really anyone. Occasion-ally when I’m home I get to see Colvin and some folks that I grew up with (not in our class), and I sometimes text with Sadler. Also, I feel like I’ve kept up with Brett Maune in spirit - if you have Amazon Prime, take an evening and watch “The Barkeley Marathons” - you won’t regret it (he’ll probably kill me for that). But I’m only back in MO every other year or so, so unless someone’s visiting Oregon...Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite local food to eat when you are back in the area? My ideal menu for a few days at home would include... Imo’s, Aldo’s, bbq pork steaks, fried catfish, fresh tomatoes and sweet corn, Shlafley, Stag, and even though I don’t drink soda anymore, I still like a really cold SunDrop in a glass bottle. What songs are on your 90’s playlist? Songs from the 90’s that I still occasionally listen to... Nirvana - the Nevermind album, Counting Crows, and some Dave Matthews - wow, that’s the most unoriginal list I’ve ever written. I’ve reverted mostly to the 60’s and 70’s these days. What is the probability of you making it to the reunion? Slim to none. Not that I wouldn’t really like to. But un-less it coordinates with a Holiday or summer break, I probably won’t be there.

  • I live with 2 little people who are constantly wasted throwing things, running, hitting, etc. Isaac (Ike) is 3 and Noah is 1. My husband, Howard, and I love and appreciate every minute of them since we have to because we’re too old to have different ones.

We live in Tampa and enjoy everything it has to offer: sunsets on the beach which does result in finding sand in the crevasses of your car and house for a month; great places to eat if we are lucky enough to get a babysitter and eat with 2 hands; and strip clubs... lots and lots of strip clubs (if you’ve been to Tampa, you know I’m not kidding :).What are you currently obsessed with?Visiting every park to find the very best park of all time. We have a list.

Kate Parks Scholl It use to be trying every steak restaurant in Tampa Bay to find which one’s the best, but it’s moved on to parks for obvious reasons.Lived in Phoenix, AZ and all 3 cities in Tampa Bay. I’ve visited several places. How are you different than you were in high school?I am even happier, and I care even less than I did in high school. I had no idea that was possible! In what ways are you un-changed from high school?I’m still extreme People you actually see/keep up with from high school, Facebook doesn’t count.I will still text Hilary ran-dom high school pics as I find them.

Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite local food to eat when you are back in the area?Yes. In Tampa, Cuban food is a must. Cuban sandwich-es and black beans and rice. What songs are on your 90’s playlist?90s hip hop is my playlist What is the probability of you making it to the re-union?Oh, I’ll be there

  • Jill Derner CoppinI live in Eureka, MO with my hus-band Brian and daughter Abbey (5). I like that it’s halfway between work and my parents. Life is good; always busy!

    for fitness; new recipes; and obsessed with stitch fix. I’m obsessed with anything that has to do outdoors -- hiking; swimming; kayak-ing;

How are you different than you were in high school?I’m definitely snarkier than high school haha! Less worried about what people think haha :)

In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I’m still not the most organized person; haha -- improvement ongo-ing, right?

People you actually see/keep up with from high school. Not on a consistent basis; I see Stacy Rio from time to time and was roommates with Amy Wessel before I got married

Do you live out-side the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your fa-vorite local food to eat when you are back in the area?I live in town and still pissed that Patke’s closed :(

  • I currently live in Union, MO with my husband, Todd, and our two children, Isabel and Gabe. Isabel will be 14 in August and Gabe will be 13 in Sep-

tember. This time next year I’ll be preparing to send my firstborn to Borgia and repeat-ing the process the year after that with the second one. Borgia is super expen-sive now, geez. I’m currently a personal trainer at the YMCA and I teach art to 8th grade at Immaculate Conception in Union. Both jobs involve convincing people that they can do something that they believe they can’t. I’m a professional cheer-leader.What are you currently obsessed with?I’m totally obsessed with doing a good job. As a mom I’m constantly worried if I’m doing a good job. Too much screen time? Not enough reading? Did they practice piano? Are they happy? Is school going okay? I’m obsessed with doing a good job for my clients. Did they get a good workout? Do they need extra help with diet? Did I forget to text someone back? I’m obsessed with this reunion. Did I find everyone? Are they aware of the reunion? I’m also obsessed with finding balance

    Stacy Reed Rio

in my life and taking care of myself. I feel like I need to be a good ex-ample to my clients. I’m a disaster and they know it but I’m going for the illusion of having it to-gether.I’m also obsessed with Game of Thrones, Wonder Woman, work-out clothes, muscles and my dogs.

This is not an accuate photo of me. I was wearing Elliott’s shirt and my hair never looked this good.

This is not an accurate photo of us. We can never be found wearing dresses on the beach. We both wear workout clothes all the time.

This is not an accurate photo of me. This was taken the day of a body-building show.

This is not an accurate photo of my family. I can almost never get the boys to wear matching clothes, especially matching fedoras, but when I do, there is photo evidence. This was taken in October, Gabe is 6 inches taller now.

Places you have lived/traveled:We used to live in Georgetown, Texas. It was a lot like Washington, MO except every time a holiday rolled around we had to get on a plane or make a 12 hour road trip. Now we live across town from my family and no longer have fire ants in our yard. We have travelled a lot attending weddings. I don’t re-member all the places I’ve been anymore because they were slightly against my will. Went to Lake Tahoe for Sadler’s wedding. Rachel was there too. We did go to the Cayman Islands for our ten year anniversary. We’ve also done the Florida beach thing. Very unoriginal. How are you different than you were in high school? I

This IS an accurate photo of me. This is what I look like making this book at the computer

have to dye my hair every three weeks to keep my hair the same color it was in high school. Improvements have been made in diet and wardrobe. In what ways are you unchanged from high school? My hair is the same color. I still get zits. I still like to drive my mom crazy. People you actually see/keep up with from high school. In the past 12 months I have seen Rachel, Aaron and John on purpose. Working at the YMCA, I run into a TON of people.Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite local food to eat when you are back in the area? When I was pregnant in Texas, all I wanted was toasted ravioli, and they didn’t have it.What songs are on your 90’s playlist? Blues Traveler, Live, Green Day, Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Soundtrack to Dazed and Confused and Batman Forever. Those were my jams. What is the probability of you making it to the reunion? 99.9%

  • I currently live in Nashville Tennessee with my husband Mike and our son Charlie (4) and daughter Blake (4 months). I moved here 7 years ago to open up a new territory of the event planning com-pany I work for. I travel quite a bit for my job and aside from missing my littles when I’m gone, I absolutely love it! After HS, I moved to STL and lived there for 10 years before moving to Nashville. The

move was supposed to be temporary but it’s an awesome city so it stuck. My husband and I are on a mission to vacation at least once a year by ourselves and so far we’ve been suc-cessful. Mexico a cou-ple of times, Bahamas, Dominican…we like the beach. Next time we are planning Greece or Spain. He is from a tee-ny town on the coast of Maine so we visit there pretty often too. I’m pretty much a 180 of who I was in HS…I’m a bit of a “rule follower” now. I know, lame. But I definitely still know how to have a good time, responsibly of course.

Hilary Boland Lorrain Sadly, I’ve lost touch with almost every-one. Jenny Juergens will always be one of my besties though! When visiting the STL, I always like to hit Blueberry Hill. I used this live across the street for years so it’s always great to go back. Food is so-so but great beers and darts. Anything Bell Biv Devoe and some early Nelly (I think technically this was 2000) for me!I think I have a conflict so most likely will not make it to the reunion.

  • Sydney Nykiel-Bailey

I currently live in St. Louis, MO with my hus-band, Cory Bailey, and 2 girls, Lilly 7 yo and Gwyneth 5 yo. I am a pediatric anesthesiologist at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Washington Univer-sity School of Medicine. What are you currently obsessed with? An eclectic mix ranging from Snoop Dog ( Nuthin’ but a G thang) to Tom Petty (You Wreck Me) to David Lee Murphy (Dust on the Bottle). What is the probability of you making it to the reunion? Promised Brandy I would!!! It will be my first, so the rest of you slackers better come to...see everyone soon!

  • I still live in the good old Wash. Mo. I guess I’m too much of a family girl. I’ve been employed at Enduro Binders as a screen printer for 20 years. Had no idea what I was getting into but I’m glad I stuck it out. I absolutely love what I do and love to be challenged.

I’m obsessed with Cardi-nal baseball. I know surprise right? Busch Stadium is my second home in the summer. I have bought a five game pack for six years now. I go to about 10 games a year. Then in the offseason I bleed blue!!

Laura Roetheli I also told myself that I was going to find a healthier me. I do Zumba, kickboxing, workout at the gym 4 times a week and go for walks. Also learned a lot how important portion control is. So far I have lost 25lbs and 12+ inches and I’m not done.I have been to Cozumel, Key West, Orlando, Fort Myers. All in accompany with Kelly, Rachel, Stephanie.I’m the same happy girl with a huge heart that loves to keep in touch with family and friends.I stay in contact with Kelly O’Malley, Jill Scrutchfield, Stepha-nie Agee, Rachel Swederska.90’s playlists Janet Jackson, TLC, Sir Mix A Lot, RoxetteProbability of making it to the reunion.. most definitely. I have something else to do that day but I will be there!!

  • Jennifer Hanneken By the time the reunion comes around, we will have moved to a place with land outside of New Ha-ven. Super excited to have some critters and live the country life.

My husband Corey and I will be married for 14 years in October. We have a 12 year old son, Dayton, and a 9 year old daughter, Cassidy. Dayton is involved in Boy Scouts and plays baseball. Cassidy is a phenominal softball player. They both get awesome grades and receive awards at school for academics. They are simply amazing and our every-thing. What are you currently obsessed with? I am focused on making sure my kids have a good childhood and making lots of fun memories together as a family. Raising them to be respectful, kind human beings is a top priority, and I think I am doing a hell of a good job with that.I have been to every state, many of them multiple times, except for maybe seven of them. More recently, we have traveled to DisneyWorld, Branson/Silver Dollar City at Christmas time, and we drive east every year and stay for a couple of weeks. We went to Assateague Island a couple of years ago and it was amazing. We’ve taken a pirate cruise on the Kalmar Nyckel. Just all kinds of fun experiences and lots of neat places. How are you different than you were in high school?I am more confident, and more myself. In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I’m still hilarious.

People you actuallysee/keep up with from high school, Facebook doesn’t count.Beth and Tim RoetheliWhatsongs are onyour 90’s playlist?Wasn’t much into 90’s music honestly, but I re-member Adrienne and I listened to a lot of Cake. I liked Third Eye Blind too. What is the probability of you making it to the re-union? Not good.

  • Bryan SchererMy wife Danyelle and I just celebrated 20 years of marriage (we got married about a week after high school) J We now have 4 amazing children (Bailey – 17, Brooklyn – 15, Bella – 11, and Bennett – 4) and soon to be 5. We are almost complete with the interna-tional adoption of our daughter Bethanhi – 12.

We currently live in Minneapolis, MN and migrated north for my job. I’m a Director at FedEx overseeing 1700 frontline employees, 70 managers, and 11 senior managers. My territory includes domestic operations in 6 states. Danyelle is constantly busy being a mom, and homeschooling all of our children.

What are you currently obsessed with? For the past 18 months we have been dedicated to pursuing the adoption of our daughter. It is an extremely long and arduous process but we are nearing the final stages. We hope to travel to Vietnam as early as August and bring her home. My oldest daughter (Brooke) created a Face-book page to capture our journey. If you are interested in following our page just go to: Our Journey “Finding Nhi Ho” and hit like. Places you have lived/traveled:We have lived in St. Louis, Columbia, Springfield, Union, and Warrenton MO, and Lakeville MN. Most of our travel has been domestic to just about everywhere in the Midwest and South for vacations. We recently went to Canada, and I’ve been to Vietnam about 2 years ago for a month. I had the honor of assisting a startup busi-ness (Social Enterprise) called XanhShop. Truly a great organization that cares about our responsibility to the earth, and taking care of the farmers by cutting out the middle man and funneling back all the profits to them. They also donate all their remaining profitability back in the community and care for those who can’t care for themselves. It was a life changing experience. How are you different than you were in high school?

I’ve pushed myself a lot harder in life than I ever did in high-school. Graduating summa cum laude in college came so easy with a little hard work and commitment. I often wonder where I’d be if I had the same drive in high-school. The hardest thing in life is trying to get your children to do what you didn’t want to (when you were their age).

In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I don’t listen to anyone. I have to try it myself and I usually end up learning from my mistakes wishing I would have just listened in the beginning.People you actually see/keep up with from high school, Facebook doesn’t count.I don’t really see anyone. Really between work, raising a family, homeschooling, and working on my MBA in my spare time I don’t often hang out with friends (outside of work).Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite local food to eat when you are back in the area?

I love anything on the Hill. Real Italian food is where it’s at. What songs are on your 90’s playlist?Anything Nirvana, Alice and Chains, STP, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins & Radiohead. Al-though today I find myself liking electronic, and alternative more than anything. What is the probability of you making it to the reunion?I hate that I can’t be there. We anticipate our travel in Vietnam to be around the August / September timeframe and we will spend a full month in country. Before and after that my work schedule is crazy with travel.

  • Remembering Barry

When we were Juniors (I think) Barry, and a group of us were having firework wars. Things went very wrong when we decided it would be a good idea to shoot them at passing cars (and one of them happened to be a police officer). I remember a bunch of us ducked down into the forest and he called us all out. About 4 of us came out and were escorted to my house by the cop. If I remember correctly Barry and a few others stayed hidden in the woods and got off Scott free. Since we didn’t get charged with anything it makes for a good story now – but don’t EVER tell my kids.-Bryan Scherer

What I remember most about Barry was his witti-ness - the whole Reichers clan has it! They are quick to pick up a joke and carry it forward with a silly voice impression or facial expression! I loved to laugh with Barry - his dry sense of humor was awesome.-Brandy Baldwin

Barry was such a sweet guy. He had the best handwriting of any guy I’ve ever met; we passed a lot of notes in Mrs. Sandler’s biology classes along with Rachel Kluesner and Beth Shipley.-Lauren Tucker

I was in one of Chuck Bright’s classes and we were taking a test that day. Chuck was reusing the tests he used from another class. We were writing our answers on a piece of looseleaf. We were supposed to write our names at the top of the test in case someone wrote all the answers on there, he could discover the culprit. I get a test with Barry’s name at the top. He didn’t write all the correct answers on it, but he did cross off all the answers he believed to be incorrect. I pondered getting a new test, but decided to keep this one. I took the test like a normally would, but this was like phoning a friend on every single answer. We agreed on everything. We both got excellent grades on that test. I scratched off every answer rendering it unusable. I asked Barry about the test later. He said, “He told us not to write the answers on there, I just removed the wrong an-swers.” Seemed legit.Barry was at my house several times in high school. I have no stories from that other that ran-dom fun with friends. He never broke anything or was up to no good. He was always a model guest.-Stacy Reed

  • Nothing overly memorable stands out for me. Our second year at MO State, we both lived on Greek Row so I could walk to his room easily and safely and back to my sorority house. I just remember random nights that we would sit in his living area and just talk about everything and nothing. We both had significant others back home so we weren’t really out on the dating scene like everyone else on Greek row. So we would just chill. I will always remember those times with him. I remember seeing the sadness and possibly depression in him back then, but could never have imagined he would have felt so desperate and alone that suicide was his only option. He truly was one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of being friends with. Maybe this world was just to much for his kind heart.

On a lighter note, my fondest high school memory of Barry was dreading every time we had to be in a group together for a class. He would never let anyone else do any of the work because he thought he was the only one who could do it correctly. And it would make me so mad when in reality I should have just set back and enjoyed the ride-Sarah Larrison Schmidt

So, I have been thinking about this a great deal and have been trying to think of memories that can sum up who he was and what our friendship meant. I knew Barry since first grade and running through my memories made me realize that there aren’t any that totally sum it up. My relationship with him is a culmina-tion of tons of little things ranging from playing sports, to fishing and hunting at his family farm, to riding around the back roads of New Haven / Hermann/ Stoney Hill with a case of beer. I doubt any of this helps, but these are the memories I truly cherish.-Todd Steffens

I’ve been thinking of what to say... it’s hard to choose one memory when there’s so many. From Pike parites to BBQs to Sunday get togethers. When I think about him, I remember her genuineness and regard for others. He would check in to see how others were doing. His big smile and goofiness made anyone forget their worries. -Jessie Gildehaus McBrayer

  • Remembering Erin

What comes to mind is seeing her lay on the middle of the living room floor dur-ing a party. We had to walk around her, she was mesmerized by MTV. She’d lay there with her elbows down on the carpet and her chin in her hands just watch-ing all of those dancers and singers perform. She loved that. She also liked going to the zoo and making hair scrunchies. Her demeanor was so sweet and caring, to everyone. But she had and energy that came from out of nowhere and would just burst out in crazy dance, unexpectedly. If there was a piece of exercise equipment in the room, she would have to try it out. Not that she liked or needed to exercise, but she was a curious creature. Her hair bounced into her eyes all the time. She never lost patience with that, just continually pushed it behind her ears and smiled. It wasn’t often that she had her hair tied up. I think that’s because she was too active, it would never stay in place anyway. She had lots of pent up energy but oddly enough felt most comfortable being a wallflower. Most importantly, she loved Jesus. She loved Him like the big brother she never had.-Elise Norwald

Every now and then I come across the newspaper cutout I have from Erin’s wake. I don’t think anyone could ever forget her smile. I’m sad they can’t be here to cel-ebrate our 20 year.-Aimee Bosch

I had a locker right next to Erin in 9th grade. I thought about asking her out many times, but I nev-er did it. It’s unfortunate too because not only was she sweet and cute, but I think the confusion that our names would have caused would have been fun.-Aaron Allen

I just really remember Erin as my first friend in high school. She was in almost every one of my classes. I remember how friendly she was to every person she met. She will always be one of my most amazing and memorable friends that touched me for life by just being who she was and always being willing to make some-one laugh or lend a helping hand.-Kelly O’Malley

Erin came to a party at my house. It was the first time she had been to my house. After the party I was thinking about how much fun we had and I was looking forward to hanging out with her more. I felt like I had make a new friend. I never saw her again. She died the next week. I’ll never forget that.-Stacy Reed

  • Aaron AllenI’m a school counselor at an international school in Beijing, China. With my wife and three kids, I have one of the largest families in the entire city of 20 million or so. I live here mainly because I love the sound of air purifiers and I enjoy playing a live version of Frogger every time I cross the road. Being able to travel the world and having my kids learn Chinese through immersion isn’t bad either. • Laura Voss DavisonI live in Eureka, MO because it is close to my parents since my husband travels a lot of the time and it’s the fur-thest west he would go outside of St. Louis. My kids are Jade (my angel), Macklin 3, Emma 1.5 and baby #4 due December 2017 (yep, call me crazy!)! I currently work as a Dental Hygienist part time in Ellisville, MO. My current obsession is food, specifically comfort food that is healthy (there is such a thing)! As a family we love being able to be outside and since my parents have a place at Table Rock Lake that is where you will find us a lot of the summer! Since graduating college I have lived in Kansas City, MO, Grand Rapids, MI and St. Louis. I have been fortunate to do several mission trips includ-ing Honduras and Venezuela as well as travel to Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cozumel, Jamaica many of which were destination weddings (did I mention I have awesome friends!) but our fa-vorite family trips are Sanibel Island, Florida and Western Michigan to visit friends and get our “beach” fix. How am I different from high school? I have grown in so many ways but mostly I have a deep-ened faith in God. I have better hair and less acne. I really don’t care what people think of me and I am not afraid to speak my mind. How am I the same? I still procrastinate!Friends I keep up with? Chance I will make the reunion? Most likely not since we will just be getting back from vacation

  • Stacy SkorniaI live in St. Louis, MO in a house that was intended to be a rental but turned out to be a suitable family home to meet my ultimate objectives….financial in-dependence. Which, I will hopefully attain in less than a decade. I briefly lived in Madrid Spain, but have otherwise maintained a residence in St. Louis since leaving HS.

Obsessions:My current obsession is to get my non-profit off the ground 1level with the aim to provide people with less accessibility skills in the real estate trade. The non-profit will also provide people on section 8 the opportunity to use their voucher to purchase homes and acquire wealth instead of staying in the vicious cycle of poverty. We will renovate St. Louis one beat up property at a time….

Or drinking a craft stout in my back alley adult-ing with the neighbors while our kids ride power wheels and entertain themselves. That’s South City in a nutshell.

Different from HS:I don’t feel differently than I did in HS. I still be-lieve my life’s mission is likely to help people in some way, it’s just taking me longer to get there than I intended. I initially wanted to be a doctor but it turns out I became a Biomedical Engineer and then a lawyer, by accident. I went to law school because I got tuition remission from the University while I did research in neural tissue regeneration and taught graduate and undergraduate classes. As a lawyer, I work for Social Security Administra-

tion. My job is ridiculously easy, flexible, and low stress. I spend my “spare” time (if there is such a thing) working my other jobs, including working as a Judge Advocate (JAG) in the Army Reserves and developing my residential real estate portfolio and private law practice that specializes in self-directed retirement accounts and self-directed educational savings accounts. The majority of the rest of my free time is spent with my two daughters that I absolutely adore even though they drive me crazy sometimes.

I still love to travel and have spent time in Australia, Austria, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Honduras, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nether-lands, Peru, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, The Czech Republic…and I hope to spend the rest of my life traveling when I’m done working.

I don’t remember the last time I actually saw someone from HS, outside of family, maybe 4 years ago…

I don’t have a 90s playlist. Though I am super passionate about music and dance, I mostly listen to Pandora and XM or satellite because I don’t have time to create playlists. I played capoeira which is an Afro-Brazilian martial art for nearly a decade which requires singing in Portuguese and playing rudimentary instruments.

Probability to make it to the reunion is un-known. I don’t

actually know when it is and we have already on the books two plus weeks of travel from St. Louis to Philly to Hilton Head to Alley Springs this summer. Plus, if it falls on an Army Reserve weekend, I will be drilling.

  • Justin HardinI live in St. Louis County with my wife, Becky, and two children: Sophia, 7, and Noah, 6. We live in the County because while I do work in the City, I do not want to get shot. I work at Brown & James, P.C., a civil litigation defense firm. I defend individuals/corporations in civil litigation matters, mostly serious personal injury suits/wrongful death suits. The types of cases I handle include medical malpractice, prod-

uct liability, auto accidents, professional liability and premises liability (just to name a few). I also prosecute selected plaintiffs’ cases, so you should be calling me. Additionally, I am a licensed real estate agent and act not only as counsel for a real estate agency, but also act as a buyer’s and seller’s agent for family and friends. Again, you should be calling me…!

    Here is my daughter:

This is my son:They don’t always wear sunglasses.

Here they are sans sunglasses:Believe it or not, I am their biological fa-ther…I am currently obsessed with keeping up with my children. We are getting into sports now and it leaves time for nothing else. You should see my lawn. When I do have a moment, I like to watch Golden Girls reruns. Seriously. Those chicks are funny. Also, I’ll watch real crime stuff. You know Steven Avery did it, don’t you? Oh, and sports. Have you heard of Draft-Kings??Places I’ve lived/traveled: I lived in Co-lumbia for undergrad and Kansas City for law school. Moved back to STL shortly

after graduating from law school and have lived here since. Since high school, the most interesting places I’ve traveled are St. Kitts and Hawaii. Or-lando/Disney World, Las Vegas and other random continental US States don’t count. How am I different? My metabolism is nothing close to the same. I still make smart ass comments that get me in trouble. I’m working on it.How am I the same? I still have hair (I thought this would be funny in light of Adam Holt’s response…too soon?).People I actually see, Facebook doesn’t count: Does the fair count? I actu-ally talk to Dusty and Skornia occasionally. I probably see Rascher the most, but that’s because I’m always asking him to fix my car...I see quite a few oth-ers, the list of which is too embarrassing to enumerate. My ‘90s playlist: Let Down by Radiohead. Rearviewmirror by Pearl Jam. A Murder of One by Counting Crows. Cornflake Girl by Tori Amos. I could go on, but won’t.Probability of making the reunion: I plan to be there. God willing.

  • Christine Groeper SkorniaI am married to Chad Skornia (16 years) in June. We met my junior year at SFBRHS. We have two children; Courtney(14) and Con-nor(13) and our dog, Dudley. We live in Krakow, MO which is a mile from where I taught and both kids went to school. Courtney is going to be at SFBRHS next year which makes me feel nostalgic. I just can’t believe I have a high schooler! Between Courtney’s volleyball and Connor’s baseball, we pretty much live our weekends in a gym or on a field. But hey, I wouldn’t have it any other way; time goes by so fast! I have taught middle school Language Arts and math for the last 15 years at St. Gertrude school. Chad opened up his own Aerospace machine shop 5 years ago, which keeps us pretty busy as well. After 15 years, I’m leaving St. Gertrude and heading to St. Alban Roe in Wildwood, MO to teach Language Arts and history. What are you currently obsessed with? I am currently obsessed with learning all the in’s and out’s of Google Classroom and becoming a Google Certified teacher; sounds exciting, right? I also like reading while sitting at the pool, and I can pretty much find any show on T.V. and become addicted to it. I love movies and Primetime television, but thank goodness for the DVR. We love to travel! I have only ever lived in Washington/Krakow, MO and Springfield,MO. But, I’ve been to Austria, Switzerland, Germany, St. Thomas, St. John, the BVI, Cancun, and my favorite (where I will live one day) Maui, HI. How are you different than you were in high school? Well, I don’t have that crazy froe, lopsided hair anymore!! (Big hair is still cool, though!) I also think that I am a lot more outgoing than I was in high school; I was so shy and intimidated by people. I’m more confident and know who I am. I’ve also learned that I’m very competitive when playing games(bananagrams and scrabble especially) and volleyball. In what ways are you unchanged from high school? I still worry too much and even though I’m competitive; I’m still not an athlete. I am still always the one planning everything! People you actually see/keep up with from high school, Facebook doesn’t count. I see Sarah Schmidt (Larrison). On occasion, I’ll run into classmates at the good ole’ Marquart’s Landing.

  • I’m an Associate Director at a biotech startup across the bay from San Francis-co, focusing on gene thera-pies for blinding diseases in children, which are the first among several other orphan diseases we’re hop-ing to treat. I’ve worked

in biotech for 15 years (!!), and spent the bulk of that time working on cell-based therapies, including one for spinal cord injury that’s still making its way through clinical trials (see: SciStar Trial, Asterias, AST-OPC1). I work on optimizing and scaling manufacturing for drug products.I live in San Francisco proper, and have for 8 years. I love it here, even though it’s starting to look a little homogeneous with all the tech bros... I really appreci-ate that it’s such a diverse area, and (for the most part) welcoming for people of all cultures, genders, orienta-tions, and religions. The food is amazing, and there’s always something to do. I try to see as many plays and musical performances as I can. I just wish it cost a little less to live here! The biggest perk, though, is that I can wear the same wardrobe year-round.What are you currently obsessed with?Other than trying to find extra hours in the day, I’m currently focused on my job – it’s pretty difficult to work at a startup, but the rewards are huge if we are successful. And of course, there are free snacks ev-erywhere, and the kegerator…and the beer fridge. I don’t drink much, but if I did, there is ample stock here. Outside of work, triathlon has been a big obsession of mine the past few years – I’ve done a few half ironman distance races, and last year did my first full ironman distance race in Roth, Germany. I’m hoping to do another full in 2018, if I can figure out that extra time thing. In non-drought years, I’m a big fan of heading up to Tahoe for snowboarding and snow-shoeing. And hiking and camping, year-round.Since the fall after High School, I’ve lived in California – Davis, Oakland and other parts of the East Bay, and now San Francisco. I also briefly “lived” in Madison, Wisconsin, for a few months when I was training with my previous company. I’ve traveled a little in the last ten years, and try to use my passport once a year. I won’t bore you with the details, but recent highlights include Ecuador + Galapagos Islands, and Patagonia + Easter Island in Chile. Last year, I went to Germany and Greece, and have an upcoming trip to Iceland. How are you dfferent than you were in high school?Aside from giving up my teetotaler ways, and no longer having to hitch a ride to school with my angst-y older brother, I would say life is quite different. I am very much a Californian, and into some of the

Aimee Bosch crunchy stuff: yoga, meditation, mind-fulness, minimalism; and some of the outdoorsy stuff: car camping, hiking, bike rides, beach trips. I became a vegetarian 5 years ago, and haven’t looked back. In general, I’d say, I’m more self-as-sured, and happier. I can appreciate the accomplishments I’ve made. My life feels pretty balanced right now.In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I’m still an introvert, and I still love swimming. I still hate wearing navy blue pants.

People you actually see/keep up with from high school:On the extremely rare visits, when I have extra time: Angela Ocher, Adrienne, and it’s been a while, but Koper. Brett Maune did camp in my living room one weekend in college, pre-Barkley marathon fame, but I haven’t kept up with him and his meteoric success. I’m hardly ever back in the Midwest these days.Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite local food to eat when you are back in the area? Yep. Ted Drewes, and of course, hitting up some I-talian food in the Hill. What songs are on your 90’s playlist?I have to admit, I don’t listen to a ton of 90s music anymore. But I still love Nirvana, Por-tishead, Weezer, and of course, They Might Be Giants. And some old-school Britney, from time to time. What is the probability of you making it to the reunion?Zero chance – I have a big trip planned in July, and will only likely make it back to MO for the holidays.Do you have any stories of Erin or Barry that you are willing to share? No stories, but every now and then I come across the newspaper cutout I have from Erin’s wake. I don’t think anyone could ever forget her smile. I’m sad they can’t be here to cel-ebrate our 20 year.

say life now is crazy and busy but we love it!! Currently obsessed with Athleta apparel and have always been obsessed with chick bands and unicorns! Lived: Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota. Studied abroad in Australia for 3 months. Travels have included the UK, France, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, and many states throughout the USA including Hawaii and Alaska.

I would love to go to South America, Spain, and Greece which is on the “must-do list” soon! I don’t think I am all that different honestly. I still love to dance, love a good party, love all kinds of music, value my friendships and time with my family. I know I am more confident in my own skin now but still think the core of who I am has remained the same. I still see Tanya, Tricia, and Sydney every year and keep in touch with Angela and Kenny Boy over the phone. I also still see a few of my close friends from the class of ‘96 each year too like Matt Sallaberry, Tim Walkenhorst, Johnny Steffens, David Cassat, and Corey Bailey. Living outside of St. Louis I miss Imo’s pizza the most! Some-thing about that provel cheese and speaking of...I miss being able to buy it in shreds from Schnucks to top off my salads - yum! Note to self: Must bring home some provel from this trip back! 90’s playlist includes Garbage, Hole, Soundgarden, Nirva-na, and a lot of R&B dance favorites from TLC, Salt N’Pepa, R.Kelly, LL Cool J, and Snoop Doggy Dog! Very high probability! Can’t wait!

  • Tony SaporitaI live in St Louis with my fiancee Pam. I moved back to the area about 10 years ago. Before that I lived in Chicago for 5 years. I currently work for a biotechnology company, and before that I was doing cancer research in academia.

Traveled abroad to London, Paris, Rome, Sic-ily, Brussels, Switzerland. Toronto too. In the US, I have visited Montana, Colorado, LA, DC, Florida, New Orleans, Memphis, Boston, NYC, Detroit, and most recently to the Carolinas where I got engaged.

Obsessions: beer league softball, reading, game of thrones

How am I different? My wardrobe is more subtle: less polyester, corduroy, and velvet. No more baggy jeans. Maybe I’m wiser? I also try to be more

    considerate to others.

How am I unchanged? Still like science, of course. And I still have a short atten-tion span. Sitting through a research presentation isn’t that different from sitting through a high school class.

My 90s playlist is quite long. I think most of the alt-rock stuff I like aged well. A lot of those bands still tour. But I also worked at the record-ing studio in six flags where many of the 90s pop songs we had in our collection (spice girls, hanson, etc) were annoying back then and haven’t gotten any bet-ter over the years.

75% chance I’ll attend the reunion.

I’m not sure I am much dif-ferent then I was in H.S. with the exception of the superficial..I’ve gotten older, I’m a mom, a homeowner, etc. But I think I’m ultimately still the same person I was back then just a bit more mature and respon-sible.In what ways are you unchanged from high school? Great question. In reality I’m not sure I have changed much from the high school days.

So my life is pretty much the same except I have these three little people following me around call-ing me daddy.

I’m obsessed with fantasy sports and cars.

This reminds me of home-work, I’m done.

    And yes I’ll be there.

  • I work way too many hours at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO as an in-patient pharmacist. After working every summer with my mom in a retail phar-macy, I swore I would never go into that field. I got degrees in Political Science and Sociology, and guess what? I couldn’t do a whole heck of a lot with them. So when UMKC opened a pharmacy school satellite program in Columbia, MO, where I was still employed at a hospital pharmacy after graduation, I figured “Why fight it?”. Got out of school in 2011. I hate moving though (and I’m not real sure where I’d go anyway), so I just stuck around Columbia, like half of the other college grads they turn out every year. What are you currently obsessed with?Uh... Game of Thrones... just like everyone else. That and peanut butter. I really, really like peanut butter.Places you have lived/traveled: I’ve taken a couple roller coaster themed va-cations since getting out of pharmacy school. In 2016, a college pal of mine and I hit up LA. Their Six Flags has so many more awesome roller coasters than the one in St. Louis! Then in 2017, we drove to the Six Flags in Georgia (still bet-ter roller coasters that STL), then up to Sandusky to Cedar Point, to Cleveland and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the way home (because hey, why not?), and then back home to CoMo in 4 days. Next year we’re going to go to Can-ada’s WonderlandHow are you different than you were in high school?I think I stress a lot less than back in the day. In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I still like to nerd out over comic books, Star Wars, and the like.People you actually see/keep up with from high school.I see Jim DeBroeck (or does he want to be called Jim still?) when he comes home to visit his family.Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite local food to eat when you are back in the area?I live about 2 hours away from STL. It’s great and all, but I honestly can’t say that I crave any of the local food. Of course, I just ate lunch, so maybe that’s why I can’t think of anything. What songs are on your 90’s playlist?Anything by Green Day, Nirvana, Soundgarden (RIP Chris Cornell), Salt-N-Pep-pa, and Blink 182What is the probability of you making it to the reunion?I’m giving it a 71.4% chance of occurring.

  • LAUREN

We are cruising along from our home base in Kirkwood, Mo. I like to say we live in Kirkwood, but we have a Crestwood lifestyle – ha!. Matt and I have four kids – Helena, 8; Mira, 6; Gus, 4; and Abe, 1 – and we spend a good deal of time parenting these darlings, of course. They are a kick and keep us on our toes. We both work full time and the kids have school and their own ac-tivities so I feel like I am becoming a master of logistics. We are back to Wash Mo pretty much every weekend to visit Matt’s parents, mine and other family. We have been lucky to have our parents enjoy our kiddos with us – the reason we moved back when I got pregnant with Helena.

What are you currently obsessed with? HAMILTON THE MUSICAL!! Minimalism and com-pact living. Our kids. Habits – anyone read Gretchen Rubin’s book Better than Before?

Places you have lived/traveled: After college Matt and I got married and we enjoyed our salad days in the college town of Iowa City, Iowa where I was in grad school at the University of Iowa (GO HAWKS!). We haven’t traveled too much since we had the kiddos, though we visit family and friends here and there. Most recent family adventures have been prompted by fam-ily – Kentucky to visit my brother Steve and his family, we did Disney World last December (on the list of things I would never have done without extended family wishing us along!), and enjoyed Badlands, Rushmore, Colorado. I much prefer our fantastic national parks to amuse-

    Matt & Lauren Huber

    ment parks, no doubt.

How are you different than you were in high school?Wow. I sure drink a lot more, have more white hairs. I am glad to be older and wiser. I don’t get around to playing piano much anymore.

In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I still love people, love music. Love Matt Huber! What more could you ask?

People you actually see/keep up with from high school.Matt Huber. Matt is better about keeping in touch than I am, really. I get to see Jared Swoboda, Ben Swoboda, Julie Baker, Angie Hardin. It’s fun to run into old WashMo friends here and there – at the grocery store and at events and such.

What songs are on your 90’s playlist? I’ll do some 90’s Ben Folds and Dave Matthews Band when necessary.

What is the probability of you making it to the reunion? Not looking good, I’m afraid, though I definitely send good vibes and well wishes to all! I hope life is good to you!!

  • Describe your life now including where you live and why.Life is busy with 4 and 7 year old boys. The family recently moved from the Bay Area down to southern CA due to career and job changes. I am now the director of risk management at a startup hedge fund and my wife, Hareem, is consulting with a biotech startup.

What are you currently obsessed with?

    Brett Maune

Not really anything, which probably not a good thing. All of my time is devoted to family, work, and running. It’s hard to be obsessed with one thing when so much time is devoted to each of the three.

Places you have lived/traveled:Traveled: Japan, Europe, Canada/Alaska, every state except Hawaii and North DakotaLived: New York, southern CA, and the Bay Area

How are you different than you were in high school? On one hand I feel that I am wiser (whatever that means) but on the other hand, the more I learn the more I realize that there is even more that I don’t know. In other words, I feel dumber with each passing day (oh what progress!). I take myself less seriously--should anything be taken seri-ously? I also have an appreciation for athletics that I did not have when in high school. In high school I was a die hard conservative, now I more closely align myself with liberals. California has a way of doing that to a person....

In what ways are you unchanged from high school?I am still focused and driven but am not sure why. Old habits die hard I suppose. Despite my outward appearance with gray hair and such, inside I still feel like a child.

People you actually see/keep up with from high school. Julie Baker

Do you live outside the St. Louis area, and if so, what is your favorite lo-cal food to eat when you are back in the area?Steak, barbecue, and my mother’s ice cream pie

I feel like the same person since High School.

Since high school, I am less concerned about what people think. I am more comfortable with who I am and if other people don’t like it then so be it. There are too many other things to be worried about than than what other people think. I am still a nerd though.

I have not kept up with people from high school. Every once in a while I will see high school classmates around St Louis though. I am in

Washington usually a weekend a month to hang out with family.

I likely will not make the reunion due to our second child arriv-ing during the same period.

  • Mike Brunjes

Well holy shit, were almost 40. A lot has happened in the last 20 yrs. We’ve had our own journeys, all of them significant. I feel so connected to ya’ll. We were around each other, 5 days a week for 4 years. Thats a damn long time. We all impacted each oth-er. We didn’t go to some huge school where you don’t know everybody. Everybody knew everyone else. That was pretty neat.

Lately, my wife, Chrissy Jean Thomure, and I have been heading up to Yosemite for the weekends. Its the whole, get in the vehicle at 5:30, drive till midnight, sleep in the back, get up the next morning and hike or climb something, and drive back to Santa Cruz Sunday night. Last year, my brother John and I bought a Burlington Northern train caboose for 7K, and moved it with a semi-truck to our piece of land ne
