THE CO-OP CHRONICLE July 13, 2018: Notes from the Director - Iris Hernandez WEEK #2: July 9th - July 13th It was a super exciting week at Co-op! Campers came in with creative, crazy hair for Crazy Hair Day, went to their new majors and minors to learn about their 2nd theme, and went on either on a field trip or experienced an in-house workshop with Liberty Science Center or Stepping Stones Museum. Campers are busy observing, designing, creating, building, exploring and learning all day long through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) lessons and activities. Our philosophy here at Co-op is that children learn by doing, caring, creating and collaborating, and we want them to also learn that learning is about lots of fun, problem-solving and taking risks. Reminding your child about these things is extremely important in developing their self-confidence and learning attitude. THE CO-OP CHRONICLE July 13, 2018: Notes from the Director - Iris Hernandez

WEEK #2: July 9th - July 13th

It was a super exciting week at Co-op! Campers came in with creative, crazy hair

for Crazy Hair Day, went to their new majors and minors to learn about their 2nd theme, and went on either on a field trip or experienced an in-house workshop with Liberty Science Center or Stepping Stones Museum.

“GOTCHA” MOMENT OF THE WEEK Co-Op “Gotcha” Moments feature an instance of a

Counselor going above & beyond to make a difference

in someone else’s Co-Op experience.

Maker Interns Jesse Morris and Jeronimo Pinto have been teaching campers how to whittle figures and use tools in safe ways. I observed them both teaching campers to take risks in handling drills, knives and other tools to create a puppet theatre. Their explicit teaching and kindness are exactly what we caught them doing!

COMING UP -Our MAS Library will be open for all families and campers to check out books every Friday till August 10th from 3:00 - 4:00pm. -Be sure to check our July calendar for upcoming field trips on Thursday and Friday

■ Emily Henderson, Take Flight Los campistas han estado creando y probando máquinas voladoras.
