THANK YOU…Dear Friends in Mission:Thank you for your support of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Through your gifts, you are helping to provide assistance for survivors of human trafficking, funding for health and development projects that alleviate hunger and poverty, holistic community-based health programs, and access to clean water and sanitation. This is just a sampling of the good work that gifts like yours make possible. Thank you for giving so generously.

Dear Pastor Kari and Connection Family, Thank you for sending support funds last month. I am so incredibly thankful to have a church family at home to support me in my mission here…Since arriving in Costa Rica, my biggest goal has been to begin forming relationships and understanding the culture in order to do ministry more effectively. Along with [teaching] English classes, I have been working with some of the other projects such as construction coops for a small chicken business that helps to support a single mother. The long term mission is to establish a Mission Training Center and Sustainability and Creation Care Center. I look forward to seeing you all in December when I am home for the holidays. Blessings, Emily Price
PEACH FESTIVAL THANK YOU!Thank you to everyone who helped in all areas around the church before, during, and after the Peach Festival to show our community what we mean by RADICAL HOSPITALITY! It was a record-setting day where we gave away 1500 bags of popcorn, 2000 snow cones, countless bottles of water, and provided fun for the whole family with inflatables, puppets, crafts, drama, and even a bird show. Special thanks to Coordinators Howie Otinsky and Sarah Drummond.
Grief Share provides help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. It is a support group that meets weekly in a warm, caring environment where you will come to see your group as an “oasis” on your long journey through grief. For more information, contact the church. Open to the community. Facilitator: Laurie Turtoro

It’s Back to School Time and I’m sure you know what that means, sales, sales, sales! This is prime season for cashing in on those wonderful school sales to purchase items for your shoe boxes! Walmart is the leader with crayons costing only $.25, single subject notebooks also for $.25. and other great prices for things that would be treasured by the receiver of your shoebox. Want to learn how to make items for your shoe box? Come to our second Craft Workshop on September 19 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Make and take a craft for your own shoe box, or help the team make items for the Packing Party in October. Our shoeboxes are in the church office now! We are so excited to be able to hand these out for you
to fill and return the 1st and 2nd week of November. If you have taken a shoe box last year and not used it we ask you to use that box first before taking another. Please remember to return the Coin Catcher boxes that you have been dropping your extra coins into. This is such an important part of being able to ship our churchwide packing party boxes that we will be assembling in October. Take another box and continue to drop in your coins to bless these poor unfortunate children living in desperate situations.Speaking of packing parties! Have you taken a mini shoebox from the Christmas Tree yet, it’s certainly not too late! Just buy the item listed on the shoebox and return it to the bin in the lobby. Then take another tag, we won’t mind at all. We are still very short on items for the packing party and could really use your help!
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

We have had several teens helping here this summer - Hannah Zipf, Camryn Harris - Laurie Eden's granddaughter
Desk runner (desired minimum of two people). Tuesdays are covered by John Bansch and Jennifer Zipf; Thursdays are covered by Laurie Eden, Stacey Fox. Several teens - Taylor Luck, Angelina Cirillo, Hannah Zipf. Computer tracking of database - Laurie Eden.
Pick up food (desire primary and back up by day of week)Monday - Loree Rowland and Jennifer Zipf pick up Wawa and Food LionTuesday - Stacey Fox and Randy Overbey pick up Chipotle and Wawa; John and Alana Bansch pick up Manhattan BagelWednesday - Dave Maerten picks up WawaThursday - Randy Overbey picks up Starbucks, Chipotle and Wawa; John and Alana Bansch pick up Manhattan BagelFriday - Laurie Eden picks up Wawa, KFC and Food Lion.Saturday and Sunday - Randy Overbey picks up 2 different Wawa's in Middletown.
Bagger - Diane Hoover; Randy Overbey, Stacey Fox, Steve McMillan and all of teens above. This role involves breaking down KFC, Food Lion and Chipotle, bagging soups and making bags from frozen foods picked up.
Needs - After several years of serving the Food Ministry faithfully, John and Alana Bansch have decided to step down from their duties as desk and runner on Tuesdays. We are also losing our teen help as school resumes in August and September.
With that said, we need at least two more desk people that could work Tuesdays and one more to back up either Tuesday or Thursday. We could use four more people to help pick up food throughout the week or weekend and we could use three more baggers who could help anytime your schedule allows.
To volunteer, please contact me at the email or phone listed below or the church office. We will arrange an opportunity for you to shadow the desired role before you begin.

September is a huge month for Connection’s building plans. We will celebrate our ground breaking on Saturday, Sept. 16, by being bussed out to the land and thanking God for how far He’s brought us to get to this point.
We closed on our bank loan on Tuesday, Aug. 8 and we’re set to begin construction on our new worship center just as soon as we get the final approvals from New Castle County and DelDOT. So, we also continue to pray
as we wait (and wait, and wait). Currently, NCC is reviewing revised plans and the church has been approved for a record plan extension so our record plan submission did not expire at the end of August. DelDOT reviewed updated plans in mid-August and made additional comments, which the engineer addressed and then resubmitted revised plans on Aug. 17.
For more information, see justshowup.church/new-building/
Don’t forget to sign up in the Lobby to reserve your seat for the grounbreaking! Be part of this exciting day in our church’s history!

It is student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led. Encourage your student to meet others at the school flagpole and be bold about their faith! For more info, go to syatp.com or talk with a Youth Leader at CCC.

1. Set aside time every day to listen to the God’s voice as you read, reflect, and engage with God’s word.
2. Pray and ask the God to highlight some portion of your scripture reading for that day. This will be the verse that "jumps off"
the page for you.
3. Read from both the Old and New Testament. Use the churchwide Bible in a year reading plan found in YouVersion Bible
app called, Life Journal Reading Plan (see other side for this month’s readings) or pick another one.
4. In your journal follow the SOAP method (below) and write a few sentences on each of the following:
SCRIPTURE
This will be the one verse that was "highlighted" for
you as you read.
S
OBSERVATION
Jot down what you observe about this verse within its biblical context.
O
APPLICATION
Write down any "take-homes" or personal
applications. Where does this verse touch your life?
A
PRAYER
Close your time with a prayer asking God to
make this learning come alive in your life.
P
Journaling is an excellent way to both record and process what God has spoken to us. It's also a useful tool to use later to reflect on and review
some of the "gems" that you have received. Without writing these down, you may forget those blessings and some very important lessons!
Note: The above material was adapted from Pastor Jorge Acevedo at Grace Church in Fort Myers, FL and Pastor Wayne Cordeiro from New
Hope Christian Fellowship in Hawaii.
Spending time reading and reflecting on God’s word is one of the top things we can do to grow closer to God no matter where we are in our journey with God. Here are four simple steps:
To read through the Bible in a year using the Life Journal Reading plan on January 1 (available on YouVersion Bible App). The plan
has daily reading in both the Old and New Testaments each day. Use the Bible reading and Reflection tips on the other side.
The YouVersion bible app is available at bible.com to read in your browser or you can download it on your mobile device at the
App Store or Google Play store. It is absolutely free.
If you are not currently in the habit of reading and reading through the Bible in a year is overwhelming, then pick one chapter a day
from the below readings.
