The basis for the project
• Work related ill health cost between 2&4% of GNP annually (Indecon, 2006)
• Ergonomics related injuries – Back injuries– Upper limb & shoulder neck
• Almost every HEI in Ireland– Health and Safety programme (cert – Ph.D)– Very few ergonomists
Objectives of this project
• Develop 5 e-learning units on workplace ergonomics
• Freely available• In SCORM format: standalone or via MLE• Users
– Any HEI in Ireland (and beyond)– Workers & companies– Citizens who are experiencing poor workplace
design issues
Ergoman Leonardo Project
• The Ergoman Project• Leonardo Agency funded project• 5 EC partners
– Politecnico di Torino, Fiat, Darmstadt Uni, Slovenia SME
• Developed a training model for – Ergonomics instruction– Varying student background– Level of competency required
• Project did not develop content
