the disciple’s prayer matthew 6: 5-13. and when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites....
TRANSCRIPT
And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him
In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,Hallowed be Your name.Your kingdom come.Your will be doneOn earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation,But deliver us from the evil one.For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.[

Your kingdom comeFather the purpose of my prayer is to
see the Kingdom of God advanced
I have confidence that He is able and that He will do what He says he will do

I have confidence that He is able and that He will do what He says he will do
Let me check my motives for asking!
Your kingdom comeFather the purpose of my prayer is to

I have confidence that He is able and that He will do what He says he will do
Let me check my motives for asking!
Is it for God’s glory and not mine?
Your will be doneOn earth as it is in heaven
What is God’s will?
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him
Your will be doneOn earth as it is in heaven
What is God’s will?
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything
Your will be doneOn earth as it is in heaven
What is God’s will?
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
In our praying we must have confidence that God is able and willing to answer our
prayers
Not “ I hope God will answer my prayer!”
In our praying we must have confidence that God is able and willing to answer our
prayers
Not “ I hope God will answer my prayer!”
That is a faithless prayer
Confidence is based on knowing that God will answer my prayer
Confidence based on
•Who God is•His faithfulness
Confidence is based on knowing that God will answer my prayer
Confidence based on
•Who God is•His faithfulness•His Word
This changes our prayer from hope to faith
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen – Hebrews 11:1
This changes our prayer from hope to faith
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen – Hebrews 11:1
We no longer hope for an answer
This changes our prayer from hope to faith
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen – Hebrews 11:1
We no longer hope for an answer
We wait expectantly
This changes our prayer from hope to faith
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen – Hebrews 11:1
We no longer hope for an answer
We wait expectantly - in faith!
Give us this day our daily bread
Now we have established the foundation upon which we are praying we can ask
clearly and with confidence our petitions
Give us this day our daily bread
Now we have established the foundation upon which we are praying we can ask
clearly and with confidence our petitions
Note how clear and concise our petitions can be
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation,
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation,But deliver us from the evil one.
And as we finish our prayer…
… we further strengthen our faith
By reminding ourselves of the one in whom our confidence
and faith is placed…
